Oh,
no. For myself, at least, this thing just took an unexpected swerve into sadness territory. I wasn't able to watch the entire video - the wretched thing seemed to take forever to load - but I saw enough of it to feel I'd got a bead on the guy. And you know what? Maybe Gen Zed has softened me up - Mr Bradley could animate doodles he'd drawn with crayons sticking out of his ass and I'd consider it an aesthetic triumph - but I genuinely liked that little demo reel. Like you say, it wasn't anything absolutely
incredible, but there were lots of ideas (several of which made me chuckle) - and it seemed (to my eyes, anyway) decently animated. Much more so than Gen Zed. (Though I admit that isn't saying much.) What's worse, though, is...
You know how you hear someone's voice, get a few examples of how they present themselves, what their interests are etc. - and on the basis of this, form an opinion of that individual's personality? Based on his voice, his appearance, the ideas and humour in his demo reel - Alex Bradley seems like a nice, decent person. Certainly he appears to have a real passion for animation -
there's more stuff at his website. And based on the little I was able to view (guvking Vimeo -
the hipster's choice of video hosting platform) it would appear Mr Bradley cares deeply about his craft. What I guess I'm saying is, he's not
Dobson, yeah?
I can't blame the man for accepting the job. His first full-blown animated series! Written and produced by someone who'd previously managed to get their stuff on television! He wouldn't be the first person ever to accept what appeared to be a golden opportunity - and in doing so, bit off more than he could chew.
Edit: Oh my god,
@Ass Manager 3000 - I hadn't realised Bradley's physical similarity to (a younger) Dobson.
Poor, poor bastard.
