The cast looks pretty Z-list to be honest; I'd say Richard Schiff is the only majorly well-known actor in it, and I suspect he's only doing it because Hayden was in a series he produced.

Isn't Dominic Monaghan also in it? I like him but I doubt his participation is enough for me to overlook the overall craptitude impression I get from the trailer.

My God, this Hayden Black guy has real money to throw around! In which case - why on earth didn't he employ an experienced designer and animator? Please believe me when I say I don't want to hate on this Alex Bradley fellow, I honestly don't - it's clearly his first real project and it must take considerable effort to design and animate - 7 eps at 22 minutes an episode? - over two and a half hours of animation. But this is the thing - it's his first real project. He's inexperienced. And for someone without experience, that's an awful lot to take on.
I'd be seriously interested to know just how long this series was in production - I mean, drawing characters and backgrounds, inking and colouring, animating and editing. As it is, I feel genuinely sorry for Mr Bradley. This is his debut as a serious animator - and before the first episode has even screened, it's already the laughing stock of the internet.

He does seem like an amateur who's gotten in way over his head. In case you missed it, @Ass Manager 3000 posted one of his preview works.

It's... not very spectacular. Like, it's mildly amusing from an independent, inexperienced artist but it's nothing to really write home about (not to mention that I swear some of the stuff is copied over some older animations like He-Man anyway). Unless the two personally know each other, it would've been best if there was some extra staff behind Bradley to make sure he wasn't overwhelmed by the workload.

(Of course, this is assuming that he doesn't consider himself some sort of god artist with his head stuck in vintage era of animation who thinks he can handle this all by himself and he's some sort of new and upcoming hit animator, in which case I look forward to the resounding failure.)

Before today, I did not believe in fate.

Now, I believe.

In all seriousness I do feel sorry for Bradley. He will get no positive exposure from this.

Edit: I doubt he's in on a potential grift. Hayden probably went looking for somebody who needed a break. It's not unlikely that he took advantage of this guy to extract so much work from him *sigh*.

Oh, no. For myself, at least, this thing just took an unexpected swerve into sadness territory. I wasn't able to watch the entire video - the wretched thing seemed to take forever to load - but I saw enough of it to feel I'd got a bead on the guy. And you know what? Maybe Gen Zed has softened me up - Mr Bradley could animate doodles he'd drawn with crayons sticking out of his ass and I'd consider it an aesthetic triumph - but I genuinely liked that little demo reel. Like you say, it wasn't anything absolutely incredible, but there were lots of ideas (several of which made me chuckle) - and it seemed (to my eyes, anyway) decently animated. Much more so than Gen Zed. (Though I admit that isn't saying much.) What's worse, though, is...

You know how you hear someone's voice, get a few examples of how they present themselves, what their interests are etc. - and on the basis of this, form an opinion of that individual's personality? Based on his voice, his appearance, the ideas and humour in his demo reel - Alex Bradley seems like a nice, decent person. Certainly he appears to have a real passion for animation - there's more stuff at his website. And based on the little I was able to view (guvking Vimeo - the hipster's choice of video hosting platform) it would appear Mr Bradley cares deeply about his craft. What I guess I'm saying is, he's not Dobson, yeah?

I can't blame the man for accepting the job. His first full-blown animated series! Written and produced by someone who'd previously managed to get their stuff on television! He wouldn't be the first person ever to accept what appeared to be a golden opportunity - and in doing so, bit off more than he could chew. :heart-empty:

Edit: Oh my god, @Ass Manager 3000 - I hadn't realised Bradley's physical similarity to (a younger) Dobson.

Poor, poor bastard. :heart-empty:

Watch from 18:30.

wat

Edit: Just saw your edit, @Ass Manager 3000 - I've been thinking exactly the same thing! Judging by the high quality of Bradley's other work, I can only assume Black has been riding the poor guy like the devil. And though I'm sure Mr Bradley is doing his best, it's pretty clear he's been quite overwhelmed. I do feel terribly for him.

Maybe... Maybe Bradley was under pressure to cobble together a trailer out of unfinished footage? And he is, as we speak, sitting chained to a desk, placing new black bars at the top and bottom of the image while cursing Black for all he's worth?

I gotta disagree about Bradley. His animation is Adult Swim tier at best, and I'm talking Aqua Teen Hunger Force. He also strikes me as smug (although that may just be his physical similarity to Dobson).

That said, nobody deserves to get scammed this way.

Something like AHTF survived on the quality of the jokes (and eventually pure habit when it Spongebobbed out). Bradley is painfully unfunny. His "jokes" are shit-tier and mostly plagiarized.

I have to agree with you on Bradley. While some of his animation looks shitty given he's trying to go for some faux anime look(Which you can see some of in Gen Zed with the eyes and such) I actually liked his 70's Hanna Barbera retro looking animation. I've always had a soft spot for cartoons like that and he portrays them pretty damn well...but Gen Zed looks like he stepped out of her comfort zone given the shitty looking flash feel and the blocky, broken movement.
