I'm starting to think this might be an Adam Sandler style scam. Produce a shitty project on a shoe string budget, pander to the lowest common denominator and make bank. Who wants to bet this thing will be overloaded with product placement, too?

Oh, dear God. Having first read about this...show...in the Dobson thread, I purposefully avoided watching the trailer for a day or so - the stills alone were enough to put me off. Until, of course, morbid curiosity (surely the defining flaw of all Kiwis) got the better of me.
And? That was so sodding awful it makes my teeth itch just to think of it. You know the forum rule about not getting worked up over things of no importance? Quite so. And I suppose I can take a modest degree of pride in having always abided by that rule. Until now. I'm not even going to sperg...I mean expound on the boring, bland design, the dreadful pop culture references or the terrible lack of any actual, you know, humour. What really gets me is the horrible air of patronage hanging like a cloud of incense, pocky dust and menthol cigarette smoke over the whole thing. Yes, I'm referring to the rampant tokenism - the only reason any of these stereotypes exist. And as for the FIRST EVER TRANS LEAD VA IN A SHOW IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF THE KNOWN UNIVERSE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF MADDIE BLAUSTEIN EVAR - could someone please explain to me just why I feel as if I've just been patted on the head and given a lollipop to suck?

I also like @Zvantastika 's suggestion that when the show gets cancelled, the creators will cry PATRIARCHAL CISGENGENDERED TRANSPHOBIA on the part of...whoever the hell it is financed this thing - and then proceed to milk their tumblr fanbase via Patreon. Though if that's the gameplan, they're most definitely playing with fire. Tumblrinas are well-known for suddenly condemning a previously blameless form of media as "problematic". Today's SJW is tomorrow's shitlord...

Same. I'd be willing to do some voice work or script writing for it.

Also everything I said in the Dobbo thread applies here. It's below even most flash products on newgrounds in terms of frames, and the art assets and animation s are worse than Humpty Dumpty Man himself. Also they look like a cheap scam due to all dat merchandise and the lack of a good studio for their actors.

I realise it's getting a little crowded with people clamouring to do voice acting but I'd also be happy to do voice work. I can do scriptwriting too - I've been writing since my early teens and have had a full-length play produced (also the proud owner of a copy of Final Draft) so I think I could tackle this. In fact I'd be more than happy to.

I agree. My impression is this guy can't actually get any real funding that doesn't come out of his pocket so I think he dumped this dredge on the net in a desperate bid for some pity dollars. The obvious prodding, the lame, reaction creating jokes and of course that shithole of a store to pool in some cash is clearly shitty attempts to fund a project only morons want to see come to light.

I can't decide if it's more or less autistic than Growing Around.

After all, a certain number of people seem to be falling for this bullshit. They're announcing some shit that isn't even made as a "modern classic" already, forcing a bunch of shitty memes, and getting news coverage in which shit like any financial backing, actual places it's airing, etc. are conspicuously absent.
 
is it just me, or does it sound to anyone else like they stole the music from the Tokyo Mew Mew opening theme? Seriously, listen to both and tell me they don't sound nearly identical! (with the notes kinda inverted). When I first heard the music for GenZed I swear the FIRST thing I thought was, "That kinda sounds like music from the opening theme of Tokyo Mew Mew (Japanese theme).

I'm baffled as to how Tumblr hasn't cottoned onto this yet. Usually when they find they smallest thing they don't like they'll be all over it like flies on a turd. This is like a Moffat-era episode of Doctor Who where the Doctor or another character will do something utterly ridiculous that shouldn't work logically and there'll be no consequences whatsoever.

I'd say he's garnered enough brownie points with tumblristas that he can play with fire like this but that can't be true because we know what they're like with turning on people. Literally the only thing I can think of right now is that a wizard did it.
