I'm fine with it, if the characters are more than just 'OH MY GOD I LOPPED MY DICK OFF' and the shows marketing isn't in your face with it, like it's something sooper special you guys.

That may be but its still not a good way to write a character. Except maybe as an antagonist. I think you could do a lot in a tv show by comparing the attention whore to the person who just wants to live their life and not constantly announce how trans they are.
