Structured this joke all wrong, what with the punchline being crammed into the middle of the set up.
If it was something like "It's cool combining my love of things. Like, I love magic. But I'm also a serial killer. My favorite trick is the one where you saw the man in half." It still wouldn't have been funny, but at least it would have been a joke.

Well yeah, you are right, it's just that it's another example of how backwards the whole thing is. "putting the cart before the horse" actually does define what this show is doing.
Instead of silly self-inserts in more popular and established franchises to stamp in merch, they should get that artist to do stuff like some short promotional comics or something, to actually prove us wrong about how the characters are one-note shallow stereotypes. That'll never happen, of course, because that requires having a plan, and it's clear this show has a complete lack of direction besides "trans lead" and the few amounts of data you can get from the trailer (which are very not interesting or revealing by themselves).
Any of you knows any production more disastrous than this? I mean, I know epic failures regarding to poor/misguided/stupid investments and budget cuts or executive meddling, poor ideas, confrontational staff and such, but this...is something else, it's like all of it combined, just at a small scale. The campaign is overly aggressive (both in marketing terms and in terms of how tryhard the staff acts) without any substance to back it up (and refusal to add any details that could change that). It's...almost a thing of beauty, really. They are failing so hard before the thing is a thing, that even if it was a masterpiece in the end, the damage is already done. Before the pilot is even out!
I really like to see failures being turned around, but as optimistic as I am, I don't think this show can be salvaged at this point. Only time will tell if it'll become useful to get some laughs at how bad it is or not. Hey, if it's at least "so bad it's good" territory, it's better than nothing.

I don't see this show being "so bad it's good," because it's a bad comedy. Bad drama makes great comedy. Bad comedy is just stupid.

At this point, I am not even ironically interested in it anymore. I have seen the pilot animatic and it literally has nothing to offer. Nothing of substance. No jokes, doesn't show characters aside from "in your face" Shona, it's not even laughably bad. It actually managed to kill down my intrest for it, even in the worst sense and that is well.. quite an achievement!
I honestly think, the only people that should watch it, are those that will make YTP out of it. Because that is all it really can offer.
So far, any parody here has been better than the actual show.

Their "stories" are about on the level of random 4chan comments if 4chan had SJWs working for them. Well allegedly they do (it for free) but whatever.
I can't imagine anyone else seriously publishing a bunch of "Samus is trans" sperging by two nobodies.

I wish this was a so-bad-it's-good-show, but it's just going to be a flop and I don't think most people will bother watching it, which won't result in much fallout either.
So I'm just waiting for the Hayden and Julie pity party when it releases.

By the by, I was checking Hayden's wiki page history, and I saw this lovely thing:
When this fella edited the page, they removed the reference to my inform ant's reveal that Hayden Black's Goodnight Burbank was nowhere near as successful as he claims it is (remember, he claims top 50; it was in reality #1641). Plus the only two
were admittedly us two dumb kiwis, and we both were satisfied after the reveal of Hayden lying (Hell, the wiki guys liked the reveal and kept it after toning down the vitriol). So, what? Three edits? So with that in mind...
