I fucking despise seeing this guy's skits in my recommended feed. He's a socialist-larper wannabe Breadtuber, cut from the same cloth as Lindsay Ellis, who tries to act like he's being centrist and satirizing both sides, when in reality, he's sweeping for his masters.

There is literal mountains of evidence that Hasan:
1) Owns a shock collar
2) Owns the exact remote for the shock collar and not the vibration version of the collar
3) Uses it to shock Kaya into lying still on the tiny little bed she has in the corner of his room
4) Is desperate to obfuscate or hide the facts above
and 5) Is a chronic dog abuser, looking back to how he treated his old dog, Fish. Picking him up by the tail ON CAMERA.

All across multiple streams, for years. The worst kind of fence sitter is someone who pretends they don't have a side. Just be upfront and say "Hasan Piker can do no wrong, and if you accuse him of ever doing wrong, you are wrong, even if you have evidence."

I was wondering whether Nathan Grayson was going to get into what exactly the controversy is and his reasoning in defense of Hasan. He does eventually get to in in the middle of the article, though that in itself is probably tactical obfuscation, end he settles on the dewclaw lie.

But I think special mention goes to Nathan's address of the other half of the controversy at the end of the article:

Well Hasan's carefully-curated, jam-packed shelf, wall, and floor display behind him "does not meaningfully contribute to viewership numbers" either, but he sure does care a lot about presenting an image of himself with what he puts on screen. And it's not rocket science to recognize that livestreams are more appealing to viewers, even if slightly, when they feature pets, regardless of the main subject matter. Hasan clearly recognized this when he made his previous dog Fish a significant part of his personal branding on Twitch with additional dog imagery to show for it. Hell, I think it can be argued that the dog is actually more essential to Hasan's success as a livestreamer than the notion that he's a "himbo".

I suspect it's more likely that Nathan is feigning ignorance to protect his idol than genuinely stupid. He has done this sort of thing before...

Not just "one of the Five Guys." He's the corrupt game journalist at the heart of Gamergate who gave Zoe Quinn positive coverage (but not reviews) while secretly being a personal friend of hers at best. Nathan just had the sense to shut up about his role and dive for cover while Zoe drew most of the attention by being loudly vile.

All he had to say is he uses a shock collar in and outside the house for safety in case his dog was to run away and instead of having him constrained with a leash... but no he has to lie multiple times and use his influence online to pressure people into backing him up.
 
While I am surprised that this has continued to be talked about since most Hasan controversies usually die out within a few days, I'm still unsure if anything is going to happen to Hasan. His fans will just keep defending him until the end of time.
 
Who cares about his fans, which are like 1% of the population. As some other posters have pointed out, this scandal ensures that Hasan will never be accepted outside his little circle of retards. And I think he knows it.

This is exactly it; which is gratifying in some way (watching a narcissistic asshole melt down (from a distance) is always fun) but it's also embarrassing when you realize how fucking easy they had it just being a lying asshole their entire lives, never called on it worth a shit.

Sticking to One Big Lie is better in almost every way (as we've seen many times) but they can't do it, because they can't stand ONE person knowing they're full of shit, and so they end up letting EVERYONE know.
