China is nominally communist in many regards, but the state still exerts a lot of control over the economy in many sectors. Much of this is funded through various special economic zones which operate under capitalistic free market principles and as long as the people making all of the money are loyal to the communist party, no one cares too much. They would be considerably better off if the government weren't trying to engage in central planning activities because they tend to choose poorly and waste a lot of the wealth that private enterprises generate. Even with that waste the average Chinese person is significantly better off today than they were a decade ago, and a decade before that, and so on so the party generally has the support of the people. As long as the party rule isn't challenged, people are given a lot more leeway than in the past as well.

The nazis sprouted from what we today call fascism which came out of italian communism. I'm not gonna go too in depth but Hitler and some others in Europe at the time realized that communism is possible only on racial collectivist lines, otherwise it ends up disintegrating into racial conflict. But they also realized the benefits of so called conservative liberalism, which is just freedom but unity. So they mixed the two to form nazism. It is in parts communism, racial identitarianism (what we call ethnonationalism today) and collective conservatism (the liberal kind you would see in the Amish and other insular communities). Economically hitler basically expropriated the property of everybody he targetted and reintegrated it into the state. Then the state reallocated it to industries and businessman who they had confidence in, which was overwhelmingly rich industrialists, scientists and party members. Culturally he encouraged white collectivism, social conservatism and a metaphysical attachment towards what came to be known as the German people (their ethnogenesis, mythical story, historical exploits, the "geist" or will of the people). Both of those interacted with each other when it came to worker compensation, public policy, cultural activities etc this creating what seemed to be a cohesive system, if you were German ofc. It started failing when their maintenance of the concentration camps/territory started draining them of resources and them being attacked on pretty much all fronts.
