The bit about this that sticks in my craw is that the politics aren't even *really* those of empathy. They are those of foolish, infantile idealism that ignores the very basics of human nature. Hasan and other socialists, especially of the shart-in-mart variety, only pretend to have the people's interests in mind, even then only their economic interests. Such politics openly understand, through their discussion of dictatorship of the proletariat, that statist authoritarianism is essential to their designs for humanity. Open acknowledgement that they must crush the individuality and agency of the human beings around them is fucking engrained into both communism and socialism, the actual effects on the humans involved be damned. I get that Hasan Piker is openly too braindead and apathetic to actually think this through, as is most of his audience, but the continued characterization of such statist, authoritarian brutalization of basic humanity as "empathetic" still pisses me off like nothing else.
