All things considered, even the shittiest urban hellhole in the US is safer than Haiti. CHAZ and January 6th has NOTHING on a literal gang revolt of their own government being violently exiled out of dodge. What I am curious about is how are their food handled.

As fun it is to imagine spear and ak armed negroes haughtily chewing on roast bbc while going hon hon hon and drinking toilet wine....

Is the food given as aid from the UN? Are the locals capable of foraging without massive agriculture? Like people go out and fish?

With the government in exile, are foreign trade ships bringing in food, or local farmers just not effected and robbed of their food?

Haitians had resorted to eating literal dirt even before their country officially collapsed

 
They do need to mix that with vegetable paste or animal fat. Are they eating bushmeat?
 
Haitians are incapable of living off the land. They can’t resort to subsistence farming. Too many people, not enough arable land. People will be eating rats, bugs, dirt, and penises. Fishing is a no-go. They managed their fisheries about as well as they managed their forests.

How did they not starve beforehand? A lot of food imports? I am jist trying to make sense how Haiti... even exists, from a good old Tropico 3 perspective.

Imports. Lots of imports. That’s typical for a Caribbean island but they don’t have any other industries like tourism or manufacturing to help pay for it. They don’t have the infrastructure to move the imports effectively. And law and order has collapsed, so the food gets stolen and resold.

The population density is absurd. It’s around 420 people per km2. For comparison, the Dominican Republic is 230/km2, Jamaica is 250, and Cuba is 260.
The DR also imports much less food.

Imagine planning a party for 230 people, on a budget of $6 per person, and then suddenly learning you have to have 420 people in the same space on a budget of $1.75 per person. And nobody can leave when they find out your party sucks. Also everyone is a nigger.

These were pre-unrest numbers.

Yeah that's what I figured. I am not a Caribbean expert, but Tropico and history showed me that my mons need to make good cash crops, export stuff like minerals and booze, and import other shit simply because it gets them better cash than just raising cows.

I was thinking they had some rural fishing and crop growing, but oh boy are they fucked. Penis flavoured dirt cookies are on the menu boys. I appreciate the info on the region.

For info, I could likely feed a person in eastern Europe for 6 dollars a day. Not fancy, but some meat and potato stew with a carrot.

2 dollars would be barebones, enough to not starve but they would get scurvy on that budget.
 
Part of the income for the island are the cruise ship stop over drop offs. Of course all of the shops at those ports are pretty much owned by the cruise ships, so they are getting the majority of the income. The Jewish community there pretty much own the ports.

I am a tad bit confused as to how on earth they got back on Haiti and got citizenship after the Haitians murdered everyone white, or even partially white. The wikipedia article suggest this involved Jewish pirates, and then pressure from the British government to allow Jews to own property in Haiti.

It appears they survive on that island by having the rich ones fund a gang and politician for protection. Which is all fine and dandy for them up until everything turns to shit, and maybe those gang that was providing protecting starts to think that maybe they could just take the port and Jewish resources for themselves. Previously buying off the politicians and the police were enough to keep their pet gang in check to not think they could just take everything for themselves.

In addition to the port, some kind businessmen had set up a T-shirt manufacturing plant after the last hurricane. Realistically being a source for cheap low skilled labor is about the best they can hope for IF they stay stable enough to allow those types of businesses to function.

As income, there are also gated beach resorts for people like Connan O'Brian to brag about how safe and wonderful Haiti is (For Connan it was a good thing the vast majority of Haitians can't swim).

Other than that, I expect they subsite off of charity aid that probably becomes much more flush after they get hit with hurricanes.

The population expands to meet the availability of food. So just giving them food only expands the problem in the long term.

The only pressure relief they get is the few that escape. Haiti to live in the US, death by killing each other, and periodic hurricanes wiping them out.

Outside of providing free birth control, about the only other way to really help them out is to provide free return trips to Africa where there is more land.

They can't go on the Dominican Republic plan because they keep on killing off all the white and mixed race people.

Idk man… Even your average African shithole is a island of tranquility compared to Haiti.

And don’t forget that Haiti and Haitians serve a very important purpose. As an example of black excellence when left totally to their own devices and no whitey to boss them around.
