Spudboy isn't going to "just show up." He doesn't drive. He doesn't even ride a bike. Toren has a car still, doesn't he? But if he does, it's an old beater, and they can't afford the gas to get to Camp Trannywhore, much less to break down on the way. And, as a spectacularly work-averse individual, I can't see Toren going anywhere he will be expected to perform any actual labor or endure any privation. I mean, this is the dude who decided to live with Phil, rather than pitch a tent under a freeway overpass, or live in his car, just so he wouldn't have to rough it. You think that fucker's going to go sleep in a shipping container in the Mojave? Hell, no.

So Phil would have to convince somebody else in their social circle to give him a ride. How many of those guys still have cars, and can afford to go? How many would be willing to tolerate Phil for that long? I can already hear the onrushing torrent of excuses why they'd love to but they can't from here.

Phil would find a way if he absolutely, positively wanted to get to troonsburg.

Though realistically, I don't think his worship of TLL goes that far for him to abandon something as shitty as life with Torren (even though that asshole is the one squatting on Phil's turf), simply because the house has a roof and HVAC.

Him and Slingblade have been one step away from a new "houselessness" saga pretty much ever since they moved in, so when the neighbors and landlord finally have had enough I could see Phil getting on the next bus to troontown. He's nuked all of his other bridges everywhere else he's been.

I guess it's a question of what fails first - the tolerance of Phil's landlord or the effort behind Troontown
