I don't think they'd go full on woke or anything like you can't kill prostitutes and stuff, but I could easily see them shoehorning a crazy female protagonist and the humor getting really shitty. Of course, one could argue that might happen regardless with Dan Houser not being the writing lead and Lazlow being gone from the radio writing or whatever.
I predict the writing will be a far cry from earlier installments. No brevity or wit to the humor, just in your face stereotyping. With how the world is now, that humor will get outdated as soon as it hits.

Grand Theft Auto its a franchise with great games and shit online modes thanks to griefors and Rockstar ruining the meta. I'd say Red Dead Online is better if only because of no flying motorcycles with rockets. Funny given the story mode is pretty series with themes of rage and the consequenses of it and egos of people who live in Los Angeles. I really wouldn't know how to rate them as i like them all equally. The only 2 i don't rate is the 2d ones because no one gives a shit about them. Just like with Metal Gear but without the cringy fans and autistic reviews.

So I managed to reach the final mission in GTA 4 (I took the revenge ending cause fuck Dimitri) and there's a fucking bug that makes it impossible to complete the mission without dicking around in task manager. This has been an issue with GTA 4s PC port for years apparently, you'd think Rockstar would of fixed this in that update that merges the base game and DLC but I suppose removing songs from the radio is more important.
So on top of them gutting the soundtrack, they made the game nearly impossible to finish on new consoles?

If they gave a shit about their old games, they'd make a patch to fix that. Better framerate shouldn't fuck a game up.

Archive your shit. Tweet unavailable.

Wonder how a female protagonist would work, seeing as most of Rockstar's modern leads get thrown into very uncomfortable situations that are out of their control, and might not fly smoothly if a woman is involved.

CJ getting forced into bdsm sex, Johnny taking jobs from a nude congressman, hell, it's possible to get Arthur fucking raped.

Usually GTA/RDR protagonists are written as the "sane" ones amidst a colorful cast of characters, but even then they have their batshit moments, all of them have at least one dark moment where you feel bad for whoever their victim is at the moment, and if modern writing is a sign, i dont see how they can pull a female protag off

How WOULD you make GTA "woke?"
Making a “woke” GTA game would be like making a “woke” Super Mario game. If you want real gamers to be left angry and confused, just try to do that to those traditional franchises.

Actions do speak louder than words, no matter how many times they try to tell you that “WORDS MATTER”.

I don't know how true this is but from TVTropes:
TVTropes said:
In the motel-shoot-out scene, if you avoid entering the actual motel and run off into the city, it is abandoned, In fact, the entire map is abandoned. No cars, no bikes, no motorcycles. Not a single luxury. Except, about ten miles north, in the middle of a country road, a dead cop. No, really.
This sort of thing fascinates me. I can understand the city being abandoned, but why would the cop be there? Is it a bug? How did it come about? What do you guys think?

This cop glitch is common on the PC versions. Has it ever happened to you?

I'm assuming it's Super Cop? Yes, I had it happen back in the day on PS2. Don't know if it was patched on PC or what but haven't experienced it in any of my recent playthroughs.

I didn't know for a while that you COULD pick up prostitutes in GTA. I think it took me five years to learn that.

Really? It's all anyone would talk about back when GTA III came out at my school. Get the hooker, bang her for the 125 health, beat her with a bat to get your money back. 12-16 year olds thought it was hilarious.

I actually think, outside of GTA IV and maybe Max Payne 3, he's a pretty good video game writer. It's very hard to make a good video game that has the kind of quality writing you find in a novel or film IMO. To go down that route will often be detrimental to the game.

I don't even think there was supposed to be a message to San Andreas. Sweet is just a dumb asshole, and him being a dumb asshole is the catalyst to get you to go back to Los Santos and finish off Big Smoke and Tenpenny. It would have honestly been dumber for Carl to just go back for petty revenge. At least with Sweet there is a familial component to justify it.

If it's in Vice City/Columbia or whatever, I'd rather it be a time skip like Driver: Parallel Lines or something tbqh.

I almost feel like they'd have to do that. Modern day Vice City would be kind of lame, but none of the kiddies are going to be buying shit in 80's GTA Online 2.
Man it's a shame driver parallel lines didn't get enough traction T.K or Tyler kidumms will always be my favorite protag

Related to the stuff about Rockstar taking down the big mods, there seems to be a bit of a meltdown going on over at GTAF atm.

From what I've read, GTANet, which hosts GTAF, has been shilling the Tuners update quite fiercely, alot more than they usually do when an update drops. There's basically no mention whatsoever on their social media's about the mod situation. The mods on GTAF are largely staying silent about the situation too with one of the admins accusing the creator of the thread (a guy who has been extremely active in the GTA modding community) of trying to start fights and wants to take a "wait and see" approach to this. The thread creator then rightfully pointed out how it's odd that they would shill Rockstar while turning a blind eye to this situation despite having done the opposite during the OpenIV situation.

Long story short, the users suspect that the GTANET/GTAF team are trying to get into Rockstar's good graces and are throwing the mod community under the bus.

They've always tried to get into their good graces IIRC. Or at least pretend that they already are.

With GTA Online they see the writing on the wall probably, and are picking their side of the line. They'd rather be corporate shills.
