Shame the Houser brothers were such morons that when Ray did Joe Pesci's Goodfellas bit unprompted for them they saw their arses rather than geek the fuck out about it.

GTA 3 has a great world ambience, even 20 years later. The music and ped dialogue complements the drab, smug atmosphere of Liberty City.

Every design choice crafted into Liberty City then was intentional. Truly a sight to behold to just ... Stand there and observe.
This is something I hate about modern gaming. It feels like with 4K graphics and uncompressed sound they feel like developers can just not give a fuck about atmosphere and ambience.
This is primarily why I think the first RDR is superior to the sequel.

RDR2 is beautiful, and a technical marvel, but holy shit, even with all that detail does it feel lifeless, and stale most of the time. The first game had such good ambience like that creepy whistling noise when you're exploring certain places at and that iconic haunting guitar twang when you update a side mission.

The only ambience noise that I can think of in RDR2 that isn't animal related is that weird Theremin-sounding noise that occasionally plays when you're in Roanoke Ridge, but that's literally it.

I think the PS2 version of GTA 3 has the best ambience of all its versions. It's ugly in a charming, intentional way.

I’m actually a sucker for the FAT Xbox console allowing you to play your own music and MP3s on the custom made GTA stations for III, Vice City and San Andreas.

It brings back joyful memories of playing the likes of A Tribe Called Quest and OutKast soundtracks in the San Andreas game, especially when you’re in Grove Street and everyone is playing Ice Cube, Eazy-E, Dr. Dre and Madd Dogg.

Michael Jackson refused to let R* use his songs for SA if I remember rightly.
Now, to be fair, I wouldn’t be surprised. MJ’s songs did fit the overall aesthetic of Vice City more than it did Los Santos. If anything, it’s one of the main reasons why we’ll never hear the likes of Prince, The Beatles or even Frank Zappa in a GTA game in the near future.

If anything, the people that are still a fan of GTA in current day should be lucky they managed to get Queen, Elton John and an Eminem feature (courtesy of the Dr. Dre exclusive) in GTA V.

PC versions do that too. And the PSP versions of LCS and VCS. Underrated feature, to say the least. I think GTA IV takes it one step further by having in-universe ads WITH your custom soundtrack on PC. Sadly, you couldn't do that in the 360 version of IV.

Two plot holes with GTA V:

Micheal is tasked to kill Stretch to "keep him clear of known associates." But, Micheal would announce that he's assassinating Stretch on behalf of Lamar and Franklin. Wouldn't that line link Stretch's murder back to Franklin or Lamar?

You kill Wei Cheng at Pacific Bluffs with Franklin. 100% dictates that you kill him with a sticky bomb. His son, Tao, is with him in the vehicle. You kill Wei with a sticky bomb, the car blows up, killing everybody in it. Yet, in Online, Tao lives and even mentions the shootout at Pacific Bluffs in the Casino DLC. WTF?

It would only link them insofar that anyone survived and talked to the police. I can't remember but don't you end up having to kill *everyone* at the meet? It's not really a plot hole, it's just Michael being stupid and too fucking dramatic like he always is.

As for the other one, yeah that's the kind of bullshit that is to be expected from GTA Online at this point. Someone could probably make the argument that extra mission objectives are not meant to be hard storyline canon thus it isn't a plot hole, but I honestly don't know why anyone wouldn't use that method out of pure ease.

People compare Stretch to Big Smoke and Ryder, I disagree. He was just thrown into the plot with little character development or background. Just another gangbanging moron.

Love how Franklin reacts to Trevor suggesting him along the rest of the targets for the final mission

"Stretch...? We really gonna throw him in there?"

More an inconvenience than an a legit antagonist

Well, he was going to kill Lamar so...

Disagree about the music. GTA3 has the WORST soundtrack. SA at least has SOME good tunes but hampered by Rockstar not wanting to buy the rights to big name acts (Metallica, Madonna, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston) while Vice City has the best soundtrack with Rockstar opening up their wallet and buying all sorts of great songs with a bunch of big names.
Rise and MSX FM are still better than all of GTA Vs radio stations though
(Seriously though why are the electronic stations in GTA V so shit, Soulwax FM is boring and I wish they just they got more of the French House songs that were on Non Stop Pop and made that it’s own channel)

I like your taste in music.

Why did they turn Vladivostok FM into club music for TBoGT?
