Here's the news of the Government Shutdown as of 1/22/19

It's been a month now since this shutdown started which started back in December and no deal seems to be coming.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...day-32-as-democrats-vow-to-reject-trump-offer

"The longest government shutdown in U.S. history entered its 32nd day on Tuesday with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell expected to call up legislation to advance a proposal from President Donald Trump, which Democrats have already said they’ll reject.

The president said in a Jan. 19 speech he would support a mix of immigration-related proposals in exchange for $5.7 billion to build a wall or other barriers along the border. Trump’s supporters, including Vice President Mike Pence, pointed to the offer as evidence of the president’s willingness to strike a compromise with Democrats.

Pelosi’s Democrats, meanwhile, plan more votes of their own in the House to reopen the government, with a new offer of $1 billion for border upgrades -- but not a wall -- on tap this week.

If he doesn't, nobody will turn out to vote for him again. And the country is likely to plunge into civil war because whoever follows Trump will be 10x worse or better from which side's perspective you're on. Bottom line, nobody wants to compromise or make deals because there's too many loonies running things now.

There may be elections in 2020 but even if Trump wins it may not matter, as the federal government may not matter.
Melodramatic much? The US isn't going to have any "Civil War".

Blackpillers, I get where you're coming from, but c'mon. If you haven't noticed, Trump is against the Dems, his own party (there's an agenda for both parties, and it doesn't involve building a wall), the entirety of the media and social media corporations, the deep state (however you define it), and most world leaders. Yes, it's disappointing that this shutdown ended, bit I'm confident Trump's going to make lemonade out of lemons and try again.

Besides, who else do we have on our side? The whole reason this is so controversial is because Trump has practically the whole world arrayed against him, trying to prevent him from enacting his campaign promises. In a normal world, the fact that a first world country has a totally porous border should be unheard of, but here we are. No one else would even be trying to fix this, and Trump has balls of motherfucking titanium to be taking his retirement to be endlessly hounded and threatened by maniacs and psychotics. He has my eternal respect for trying to turn this clownworld around :semperfidelis:

A thing I find curious is how we had so many different takes on how the shutdown was affecting people, how many workers were having hard times paying for bills, and how Trump should stop t his overall. Now he did (because indeed, there are innocent people on this), you have democrats saying "well, I hope he learned the lesson" and making fun of him.

As a foreigner, the only "lesson" I see is that democrats would not doubt to use other people's real issues and other manipulative tactics like guilt to make others cave to their demands and once they get away with it, they turn back to their usual bully selves. I really hope Trump's people are able to see this and use it against them.

I'm not going to act like Trump has some 4D chess shit planned or he is losing 2020, but I feel there is something more to this, and can't exactly say what it is.

The Democrats have never been about helping people. Inner cities are shitholes, people leave California and New York constantly, and the policies they push have the interesting side effect of cementing their hold over populations and give them more power.

After the disastrous Midterms and failing to fulfill the signature promise of his campaign, I can very confidently say that Trump will be a one term president.
Smarmy cocksure millionaire playboy doesn’t back down against the federal government and doesn’t play by their rules is what got trump elected. He’s tried a lot harder to get funding for this wall, than say Obama shutting down Gitmo, and still has 2 more years. I’m not disappointed by this at all. He hasn't failed anything.

Skepta's new raps are a bit shit these days.

the difference is, nobody who can aim a gun is on the leftist side.
Even leftist former generals are running around calling to ban assault AR-15s, saying ludicrous shit like "fully semi-automatic," and calling magazines clips.

This is a huge loss for Trump though. The GOP will probably be able to give the Dems a veto proof majority in the Senate after 3 weeks. They just don't have the stomach to save themselves or rather they only care about themselves and not the ideals or people that got them elected. Trump needed to both continue the shutdown and announce an emergency on the border to create it himself or order the military to do so without the state of emergency.

Edit: Even though the law should be on his side to do so, it will not pass the courts or in the most optimistic scenario will do so so late that he will have to win again to get even the steel slat version remotely close to done. The shutdown was his only real leverage.

Wouldn't continuing the shutdown make him look worse? Ending at least makes it seem like he's taking some high ground.
