Gotta make that extra click dollar somehow when they can't REEE about not having a female protagonist in every single game. But of course this is the "future of gaming" because regardless they're gonna try the old "force the square peg into the circle slot" method video game streaming. Even if we get terrible product after terrible product like VR it's just gonna be a thing but hardly will it be "the future of gaming" just another byproduct.

Before analogue sticks, in the NES days, you could just have a block. To ensure control of analogue sticks, you need to have wingy-things. Personally, as a man slightly taller than Osama, the Xbox 360 controller works alright at best for me. Cramped, but fine.

Google's alternative looks like it might work for women and children who aren't fat better, which I think makes a lot of sense, but is less good for adult men.

Why aren't these companies working to offer interchangable/adjustable lower wings on their controllers?

Because shit like that is a nightmare from a design perspective. There are controllers with adjustable parts and companies that do bespoke mods, but almost all of them have drawbacks or cost a lot.

The emotional conceit of these people. They think they are perceived as John Lennon-esque dreamers, even as they shill for massive corporations.
 
What the hell is wrong with people that they start sexing appliances. I'm a woman with weak hands. Handles need to be thick and heavy so I don't need to exert force squeezing them and so they don't exert greater pressure on my hands. Pens need to be heavy so I don't need to press them against the paper.

The woke should know that when separate but equal sexed fragmentation enters an existing market for no good reason, it's the quality of products marketed to women which suffers. "Women don't need this much speed. Women don't need this much precision. Women don't need this much durability." All it achieves is gatekeeping superior products from women ("why are you using a men's controller, are you a troon? a lesbo? a wannabe pro gamer?" + gifts).

Want to account for hand size, make a Small and a Large (but tbh children whose hands are too small for normal controllers should be developing fine motor skills, not have their hands locked in a static grip for hours).

And make a "lefty" controller already.

As the informal Kiwi Farms expert on sexual deviance, there is a parahilia where people have unhealthy, intense sexual attraction to inanimate objects. Its called 'Objectophilia'. Its what it sounds like. You hear this occasionally in the news. Where people have married trees, utility boxes and most recently, a plane. Someone even married the Effiel Tower. A vast majority (unsurprisingly) of these people are on the autism spectrum. They can't relate to people or emotion. So they put their emotions onto objects and believe they 'reciprocate'.

There's really no sexuality to any controller unless you make one specifically for it. Controllers are designed to be utilitarian. Also a good controller is REALLY hard to make. There's a reason XBox controllers are considered the best controller for literally everything. People often underestimate how difficult this is.

Funnily enough, controllers are excellent for developing and maintaining fine motor skills with small and delicate movements. Stadia is just making them in different colors, which has been done forever. But they need any press they can get.

You know, there's something to be said about how amazing the modern game controller is as a human input device. They're just so intuitive and easy to use, and even modern US Navy submarines are controlled with actual Xbox 360 controllers. There doesn't seem to be much of a way to improve them, either, what with every standard controller since the PS1's Dual Analog being some mutation of that. It's been a little over 20 years, fads like motion controls have come and gone, and to this day, every system has almost the same control scheme.

The thing that makes me chortle and guffaw about gender-neutral controllers is how it's such a transparently lazy attempt at getting the woke crowd on-board with minimal effort. It's just a cynical marketing spin that highlights how Stadia controllers, aside from black and white, come in one color. Just one. Green. Yeah, there's the dark blue one that was exclusive to founders (blue = a boy color, so by this logic, wouldn't that mean the founder's edition was targeted only at men? 🤔), but green is your one option if you don't want the generic black and white that every other tech thing in the world comes in.

Hey, you know what? The KiwiFarms logo is in green. Maybe they secretly made the controller for us! Fuck yeah! Everyone who buys a green Stadia controller is dogwhistling that they love KiwiFarms and everything we do.

[Suggestion] The Stadia Store games should list resolutions and frame rates available in the game description.

Because the frame rates and resolutions seem to be dependent on the individual developers rather than a set standard, it would be a lot better if this information was displayed on the store page before people are spending the money. This would avoid the numerous threads where the community is confused and trying to figure out what settings each new release is running on.

For each individual game the Stadia Store page should show the native resolution and resolution upscale information as well as frame rates for both High Quality and Balanced settings so people know whether the game runs at 60fps in 1080p.

I'd also like to personally know if I can leave it on High Quality and still get 60fps when playing in chrome or on a 1080p TV with the CCU. I use a 1080p TV with High Quality because I felt like my render distance improved with High Quality in Farming Simulator, but I could be totally wrong and that's the problem. I have no idea what changes between high quality and balanced with each different game in regards to graphics presets and frame rates.

This should all be explained so much better through both the store details as well as the actual in app settings so you really know what's going on with frame rates.

People actually bought this thing, they actually went and spent money on a google device while just a few minutes worth of time searching the internet would readily tell you that buying a stadia or pretty much any google gadget/toy/thing or whatever else is a really bad idea based solely on historical precedent.

Honestly, I'm equal parts disturbed by such brazen stupidity and mad that I didn't find a way to take advantage of it first. I bet I could sell some of these idiots a nice bridge or two in New York City. Maybe some beach front property in Alaska too, possibly.

Can someone more autistic than me do the math to see if Stadia really saves you money? Account for costs of the chromecast, games, and the subscription fee. Also just assume you have an unlimited internet plan.

$70 for a Chromecast Ultra, $70 for the controller, $10/month subscription, then full price for each game with some kind of discount for a "Pro" tier. I believe there's a $120 bundle that includes the Chromecast+controller and 3 months of service, but I can't recall whether it has any games included besides Destiny 2.

If you wanted to just play Ass Creed, the cheapest non-Stadia route would be a $120 used XBone and a copy of the game for around $15. All of this is according to eBay.

If you went with a new console, then the startup cost is less for Stadia, but once you get into buying the games you're 100% fucked. Don't forget the $9.99 fee you'll be paying each month that does fuck-all AFAIK. Xbox Gold and Game Pass come bundled at $15/month, a much better deal.
