I might be completely overanalyzing this but I think I’ve finally been able to reconcile the vast differences between the two Glorias. On one hand, we have the good little Christian girl who spouts religious right dogma and writes thinly-veiled fundie propaganda posing as a childrens’ book and, on the other hand, we have the bikini-wearing party girl who gets nekkid for synthetic marijuana.

Sure -- it would be easy to say that Glo-Glo is just being a hypocrite but I’m starting to think there’s a deeper pathology than that. We all know Glo-Glo has been completely controlled by her parents and is merely a tabula rasa for them to use to obtain their own goals, dreams, aspirations, etc. However, I've been operating under the impression that the Family Tesch had one end goal in mind but ... what if each of the parents had a completely different vision/purpose for Gloria?

We know Gerry is hard religious right and pretty active in his church, so it’s pretty clear he wants to use Glo-Glo and Maradonia to spread the word of god and save those heathen souls and gain street cred in his church (and, just maybe, line his pockets with the proceeds from the Maradonia empire). Marina, however, is living vicariously through Glo-Glo and wants Glo-Glo to live the life she never had. Remember – *this* is a picture of herself that Marina posted, which tells you a lot about her goals and outlook on life.

We all know that Maradonia is crap but -- at the very least -- the book (and the movie, for the most part) don't over-sexualize Maya/Glo-Glo, while the Goldilocks videos … well, no need to go there. Plus, don’t forget that Marina took some very revealing photos of Glo shortly after she turned 18 and we also have some pretty strong evidence that Marina engineered the relationship with the Uberman. (And, for that matter, Marina even appeared in the “Convertible” video.) Hence, Marina has Glo doing all the things Marina wanted to do, but couldn't.

So … if the book writing and the movie acting and the business side of things all came from Gerry and the modeling, rapping, partying, and social media presence was Marina, I think that would go pretty far towards addressing the dichotomy between the two Glo-Glo personas. Even more (and here is where I am admittedly making a lot of assumptions), could this have created an underlying conflict between Gerry and Marina that led to the divorce? I’m pretty convinced that Gerry and Marina’s marriage was just a way for Marina to get her US citizenship (because why on earth would the INS give a permanent visa/green card to some random Russian artist?) so we already know their relationship was closer to a business arrangement than a romantic one (which actually makes Glo's engagement to the Uberman even creepier).

I dunno, maybe I'm just talking out of my ass but I really have the suspicion that Glo-Glo's two very different personas are the result of Gerry and Marina playing tug-of-war with their little "billion-dollah industry" (as the Maradonia promo video told us)...
And let us not forget that blanket Marina is standing on is the exact same one in the background of said just turned 18 pics of Glo. To me it adds another layer of disturbing a mother not only took those revealing pictures of her daughter but also has the same blanket that she used in her own 'sexy' photo in frame.

I also find it odd that both Gerry and Marina jumped all over marketing Gloria as their get rich quick scheme and completely overlooked her brothers. Surely the youngest one really could be the world's youngest author if they started him early.
That would make sense but the elder Tesch strike me as the kind of people who, upon going to the casino, will head to roulette and just keep betting everything on black. They 'won' the spin once, the table most be hot! Just a few more spins and that huge payday is bound to come.

That's just my opinion atm though :P

Actually they sound like the kind to keep playing the slots because the machine is just getting ready to payout. They spend three hours working that one machine, dumping hundreds of dollars into it and then try to scam the casino into paying out by faking an accident.

Re ShortPoppy's info, some "liberals" find Caitlyn Jenner disgusting because she opposed gay marriage and supported conservative candidates, but since Gloria has praised Trump, it's more likely her disgust is not at Caitlyn's politics, but his transsexualism. However, girls kissing girls doesn't seem to disgust her.

On the question of which parent is more exploitative of Gloria's sexuality, agree with most of what Muscle Bra wrote, but here's where seeing the whole Maradonia movie brings some other info into play. I've noted that the movie is not much different than the long trailer: you're not really getting some new, different experience, just more of the same to the point of boredom. Trailers can feel, by their nature, disjointed, but sometimes the actual movie is more coherent than the trailer: not so with Maradonia. It's the kind of sloppy, lazy story telling where the protagonists run around a lot and things happen TO them, not because of them. What didn't strike me watching it - but what my wife and her sister instantly reacted to in disgust - was how creepy it was that Gloria was always thrusting so much cleavage at the camera lens, and then undressing to go in the magic lake, within a movie ostensibly aimed at children and directed by her father.

My wife has good instincts for this stuff , with many cases in our history where she saw something with people long before it became obvious to me, and her gut reaction watching the movie was red flags about Gunter's feelings for Gloria. That they home schooled Gloria is certainly another red flag. Nothing conclusive, of course, but with the churchiness aspect, whether it's ISIS or the polygamist cults in Utah, it's amazing how often restrictive and oppressive religious doctrines include some twisted justification for sex with teenage girls. God, while creating the Universe, was apparently reading a lot of Barely Legal.

So you went to the premiere?

  • Point 1: Ick.
  • Point 2: That may explain why Glo-Glo became the golden child of the Family Tesch, while the other two kids have been largely ignored.
  • Point 3: Ick.

This is a theory I never wanted to consider, but it makes sense.

I made that as a joke. I didn't mean for it to be real.

I saw it because Gunter gave the DVD to my brother-in-law and a lot of other distributors at the LA Film Market. And yes, molested children are often favored - brought/bribed, however you want to put it - by the molesting parent. Again, doesn't mean it happened, but odd for my wife to react so strongly. See "Gift of Fear" by Gavin de Becker.

Well looking at his wife, Gloria looks just like a younger version of her. I wonder if your wife can get law enforcement to contract out her out for her "creepy detector" lol

How much does your brother in law want for the DVD?

I'm willing to pay for it, and maybe we can screen it for the Kiwis on movie night.

Leak please.

I was on the site before as Bobbob and logged in automatically, so months later when I accidentally logged out, completely forgot my password. Some glitch kept me from retrieving it, so I signed back up with this name. I addressed why I can't/won't leak the DVD in posts on page 152 and the bottom of page 153, and as I've repeatedly assured you, the film isn't better than the trailer, just longer and more boring. As much time and money as they put into it, I'm sure they'll self-release it eventually.

Are you suggesting a John/Mackenzie Phillips type situation?

I dunno I dont get the "I was molested" vibe from Gloria. Shes awkward but not that awkward.

I don't get the "I was molested" vibe either, and my wife is only going off Maradonia, so agree it'd be a huge leap to think it probable anything physical happened, but I do think Gunter was okay promoting Gloria's sexuality in the quest to make her a star.

I remember Bobbob posting a couple of months ago and having some sort of insider's view into the Tesches and their plans for Hollywood domination but didn't realize that you and Bobbob were the same person. Welcome back!

This is why I'm offering to buy the damn thing because it might be the only way for me to see this turkey and it would look great on my DVD shelf. I love bad movies and the ones that are inept and poorly made, but the cast and crew are giving it their all are the best.

I'd even create a place of honor for it and display it proudly for all the world to see.

I take it the movie begins with the non sequitor opening of the professor going to class and talking to the kids about Maradonia and 9/11, then smash cut to Maya and Joey going to their first day of school and Alana bullying Maya?

At what point does it end? After Maya and Joey's army defeats Appolyon's with the magic invincibility water (that's right outside his own castle) and then cut to the villain meeting at the dinner table discussing what to do about the children and leaving a cliffhanger for Maradonia 2: the second half of the first book?
