just to show how desperate they are to hire people, just got a text from AT&T about salesmen with a 1k hiring bonus, the reason this shows desperation is that they're using a phone number from 2 years ago to contact me. they're reaching that far back for poeple
I got a similar text a couple weeks ago. From a company I worked for like fucking 6 years ago. It was a call center that took incoming “”””customer service”””” calls for AT&T + DirecTV. There was a sales quota because every time another black woman calls about how “they can’t pay they bill, they tryina seddup a paymint plan”, the company is hoping the customer will still want to buy (finance) a new iPhone, or sign up for DirecTV (it’s only $60/month, you’ll save money! Until the 3 month trial period ends, then we charge you $135/month lol). The turnover in this place was something like 60-80%. People were drinking gin out of Big Gulp cups on the call center floor. The females with no self-esteem/shame would end up fucking the supervisors so they could be somewhat immune from being fired or reprimanded for not meeting sales quotas. Most of the employees were gay dudes, sluts, old people, dudebrah types who were born with a snapback on their head + a Tapout tee on their body, or stoners and dopers (me). I had to go to work stoned on pot, vape a little more dudeweed during lunch/break, then get even higher after work just to make the job bearable.

This place is/was so fucking desperate that they were grouptexting people who worked for them six years ago.

I’m in a lot more physical discomfort now that I work in the construction industry but I don’t get so stressed about work to where I want to get stoned. The physical discomfort is handled with stretching + topical dudeweed. Really makes you think.

Pretty amazing that construction got boiled alive in 2008, yet in 2022 its hard as a rock.

Given that I've been in construction through both, I've never had so many offers for work in the past few months that far exceed what I thought I could get. In 2008 I was stuck with my chit tier contractor who enjoyed handing out raises in nickels.

I cannot find a contractor to hire that's not booked months out. It's impossible to build right now.

I can. They're all high on meth or something though.
Always clean during the estimate, come in hands shaking and can't even hold a paint bucket without spilling.

I'm finally getting the last of my summer projects finished. They were supposed to be Spring projects, but alas, getting contractors is indeed a bitch. I'm glad all my contractors haven't been tweaked. I'm in Illinois, that's not an easy bullet to dodge. My kitchen will have a new floor and my new attic insulation will be in by the end of the week, I hope. My HVAC guys were fantastic, once I finally got them here. My roofers were mostly Mexican, but clean and friendly Mexicans that all spoke decent English and did nice work without leaving a giant mess. I only found 3 nails, and thats pretty fucking good.

And so the wave of calamities begins

Is something going on? This guy is simply yelling "COLLAPSE" with no context.
Gazprom has apparently sent letters claiming force majeure regarding gas supplies from mid June. Still not clear what it means - is it only referring to reductions because the Canadians didn't return the turbine they had so they are ass covering legally, are they completely shutting off gas to Germany and this is a formal declaration of that? Who knows. There is a Reuters article: Archive

As a small aside on this whole issue, I find it ridiculous and pathetic the amount of screeching about this from politicians and the media. Oh no, Russia are weaponizing energy, how dare they. Do these people honestly think when you sanction another country they are not going to respond in some form? We are going to completely sanction your whole economy but don't you dare do anything in response, that's, like, totally unfair man.

Am I more retarded than usual or isn’t there some kind of legally agreed upon definition of “force majeure”? Like is it just for events that are out of the contractors control (“acts of God”), or would it be weasel worded to a “wul it’s not out of your control sweatiey, just stop bullying Ukraine like we want and the sanctions will go away~” type counter argument?

What's "legal" isn't really relevant at the moment.

Its a contractual catch all and can be literally anything which either party says is beyond their control. The counter party can disagree and sue and they may well try in this case if Gazprom completely cut them off. However, and the penny has not quite dropped on this with EU politicians, Russia I think have completely given up any expectations of trade or integration with the EU going forward and are reorienting towards Asian, Middle East and other markets.

Lets say the gas stops and some court in Brussels awards damages in a couple of years time. Russia has already been de-swifted and sanctioned to hell and back and by that point we will probably be in a cold war type scenario with another Iron Curtain. OK Mr EU bureaucrat, you say we owe you damages, who is going to come to Moscow to try and collect and with what army? Its like some cuck in New Zealand demanding Null take down stuff from the site, they'll just be told to fuck off and eat shit.

So does this mean we're actually doing WW3? This seems like the point of no return, but I might just be gay and retarded.
I remain optimistic in spite of all proyected doom, and so i believe ww3 ain't coming soon (yet), BUT i believe we are indeed in an economic ww3, just look at how the west weaponized sanctions and SWIFT, now it's Russia's turn with gas, fertilizer, and to an extend, the stuck ukie grain.

If you look at it this way, Many countries in europe are practically dependant on that sweet cheap russian gas, so if Russia essentially uses this as their "fuck you" to Europe in order to choke them as retaliation, then things will start to get ugly by winter when things start to freeze, ugly not only for the common citizen, but most importantly for all the factories that require that gas to make their products, and as of now there's no replacement or alternative that i know of that's as cheap and easily transportable as that gas is through the pipelines.
What can they do? Honestly i don't know really, ask the US for gas? Buy it outsource from some thirld world country? Tell the peasants to ration gas? sanction russia even more? give ukraine more missiles? lol.

Besides, EU leaders have been really smug about "disconnecting Europe from it's dependance of russian gas with le green energy :smug:" and "we must prepare for a russian cut off" lately, Russia is doing them a favor and closing the tap for them, let's see if they really have the solutions that they claim they do, they really want to push this green deal thing to their citizens, if they were to declare "EScaLAtIoN!!""" over this then that means they were just talking out of their asses and have 0 plans on how to proceed with their "no russian gas" scheme.
Maybe they do have plans, but those are long term and take time to plan, build and operate, i'm talking maybe 3, 5 or 10 years in the future, but again, remember how Trump told them they were too dependant on russian gas and all those Euroleaders brushed it off? they had time to start moving away from russian gas, but, of course, it's simply just too cheap, and the infrastructure for it is already there, they were too comfy, and that's why they didn't.

WHY AREN'T YOU SELLING US YOUR GAS THAT'S UNDER YOUR SOIL THAT WE PUT A PRICE LIMIT TO IT AAAAAAHHRG THIS IS WAR!!
See what i mean?

As a final and personal note, I thought it was a weird move by Russia to do this, specially since Germany had bullied Canada into giving the damn turbine back to the russians in spite of zelensky's whishes and the Russians earn a lot of money from their gas revenues, I don't understand the ruski move here in the long term either, but who knows, the pipeline's scheduled maintenance is supposed to be finished on the 22nd. By the way, some articles i've been reading claim that the turbine held hostage by canada, which is now on it's way back to russia, has no chance of being returned before July 21 (and this is assuming to other bs happens in between), this messes up planning and logistics more than they already were. As i said, Russia gets tons of money just from it's gas revenue alone, 400 million euros a DAY supplying Europe with gas. That's 146 billion euros a year, they would be cutting off a big ammount of this revenue, maybe it's a short squeeze to test how euros would react? i don't know, we'll have to see.
