I haven't played too many otome games lately aside from Obey Me. That said, I recently downloaded Disney Twisted-Wonderland, and while it has the makings of an otome, it isn't one. The basic plot is that you get isekai'd to a world of magic where the characters are all men based off of Disney villains, and they live in dorms dedicated to seven of them.

I like Obey Me (Mammon is best boy) but I have to take breaks from it for a while because it does get kinda boring. I also would prefer routes but whatever.

I thought about downloading Twisted Wonderland but havent yet. Do you like it so far?

Honestly I spend most of my time doing the events instead of the actual story. Belphegor is my personal favorite.

I like Twisted Wonderland more than I thought I would; I've already finished all the available story content. The characters are fun (for the most part it's obvious who was based on which Disney villain) and have lots of different interactions with each other you can unlock. There's also a rhythm game mechanic for certain stages, so if you like those at all you'll probably enjoy it.

Tried out Twisted Wonderland. Pleasantly surprised at how premium the game feels despite the combination of visual novel, turn based combat, and osu rhythm game. This game almost comes across as an in-depth character analysis on the Disney villains and a lesson on dystopian vocabulary-changing propaganda. It is, however, a gacha game and therefore I fully intend to abandon this game like a newborn giraffe (how's that for a Disney movie reference?).

It's really funny googling this game and coming up with "frequent searches" asking if Twisted Wonderland is an otome. Even one of the most popular topics on the Twisted Wonderland subreddit are people asking if it is an otome.

Most players seem fine with the platonic "asexuality" of the characters, but Leona sometimes makes some flirty statements that come straight out of otome (not surprisingly considering his voice actor Umehara is famous for otome too). One of his upgraded artworks for his cards reminds me of some Fire Emblem TCG art where you get full view of him holding the protagonist by the ass.

(I'm sorry the forum's image attachment service isnt working as of this post)

It is pretty funny to me that TW isn't an otome. I don't blame people for asking.

All the characters have varying degrees of flirty lines, but Leona in particular can be outright suggestive. I think it's nice that they try to keep the MC's gender up to interpretation (the default name, Yuu, is unisex). However, the game does seem to imply that they're meant to be male, what with them being at an all-boy's school, and they even depict Yuu as a guy in the official manga. It's no surprise that the fandom has tons of yaoi fans.

Out of shock at the absolute unit of a mongoloid that appears to represent the protagonist, as designed by the official artist no less, I decided to check the card's story for the Lab Leona card. Sure enough, that's actually EPEL's ass in the image (which probably doesnt make things any better).

I mean, if there was a woman's tournament for Pokemon or anything like that, 99.9 percent of the participants would be troons because no actual woman who plays video games is autistic enough to play video games competitively
Fake sports is the gaming equivalent to a dick measuring contest.

I still remember the actual all-girl team that got hyped up in the media got thrashed so hard by the male players. That was funny.

This industry chart is a couple of years old, but still generally applicable. Girls care more about the genre and gameplay than whether or not there's enough pastels or too much boob armor.
Did they measure fighting games or do so little women play them that they didn't bother displaying the number? I love fighting games!

I still enjoy quietly fucking around in Stardew, growing things, making jam, petting my ostriches. I don't have to Do Stuff, I can just fuck around, and I like that.

I totally forgot that Rune Factory 5 came out. Nintendo is so Jewish when it comes to their pricing but it's most likely going to be years before this gets a PC port like 4 did (if at all). Is it just me or are the males in this one not nearly as appealing as their female counterparts? Their designs are either too generic or has something off. Like the blacksmith guy looks cute but the retarded headband ruins his design for me.

I really tried to get into Rune Factory with Rune Factory 4 I really did, but I found the controls a bit awkward so I couldn't finish it. I feel bad because I wanted to like it and my husband talked about how if I like farming simulators and stuff, I should give this a try with its action RPG elements and stuff, but I just couldn't.

5 so far is pretty different from 4. Combat is similar to the earlier Tales of games and the overworld feels like an Atelier game since everything is full 3D now. Everything does feel a bit floaty. These games definitely more for someone who prefers RPGs over pure farming games. Harvest Moon might be more up your alley.

That's the thing, I played all of the Story of Seasons/Harvest Moon games and my husband said that these games were originally a spin off of those games and if you like those games, you will like these games, but it turns out he was wrong and I wasn't a bit fan of Rune Factory 4 which I am disappointed about

Oof yeah sadly that was not a great take from your husband. I tried Rune Factory under the same sort of impression and was sorely disappointed. It is nice that Story of Seasons has continued to develop the Harvest Moon formula properly, but they still need to catch up to Stardew Valley in terms of the raw gameplay. Olive Town was closer and I am optimistic about whatever the next one will be like.

I would really like a blending of Stardew Valley's gameplay with the overall density and options of HM: Magical Melody.

The only boy that looks interesting to me is Reinhard, that's it.

I love these farming games, they scratch the gardening itch in my city-folk ass.
The most recent-ish one that I liked a lot was Animal Parade, the ones after that one just lack too many features I enjoy,
Occasionally they have decent story and characters but even that is rarer than it should be.

Stardew Valley was fun but I don't love the combat and the pixel art is frankly a complete shitshow; only acceptable because it was a single dude making the game.

I wish there was a HM-style game with borderline Factorio/Satisfactorio/Monster Hunter levels of autistic mechanics.
Back to Nature had some good features that never fully came back that could've added a ton of depth (i.e. Hiring helpers, having fun Events).
Heck they did away with the single people marrying and having kids because....the players had FOMO, I guess?
For shame.

I see what you mean, though personally the butterfly boy does it for me cause I dig the ethereal white haired prettyboy archetype.

I haven't started the game yet cause I'm still working on finishing SMT 5 but from reviews I wonder if rune factory 5 is just going to be the end of the series. It's not that impressive graphics-wise and from what I can tell the gameplay is also pretty basic and there's performance issues. For the target demographic I'm sure most of this won't matter, hell I bought it knowing full well it'd probably have issues, but at the same time this is also looking to be a great year for videogames and I imagine for most people a clunky game like RF5 isn't going to be worth the standard retail price when there's all these other options around. Yet at the same time I also get the impression that if this sells like shit it may lead to the series getting canned. Just some thoughts, I guess.

I want to get rune factory 5, but yeah, it's not a priority for me. I'd rather wait for a price drop.
Also, akyss put up preorders for some otome games on Amazon the other day, including a new Piofiore.
I'm kinda excited about that, I thought Idea factory was just gonna do it themselves like with what they to Cupid Parasite.

I never got around to finishing Rune Factory 4, but I do like it, I have the special edition for the Switch. I'll probably get the fifth one but it's not a priority for me either.

I used to play pretty much any cooking-related flash game I could get my hands on. I still like them, but games controlled entirely by mouse bother me more than they used to.

I've been eyeing Rune Factory for awhile. Is there a specific one you'd recommend to someone new, or should I get whatever's easiest?

Yeah, cooking games were awesome, I loved Cooking Mama as well. I remember playing the crap out of this one flash game where you decorate cakes when I was a kid.
