Do not go down the mod rabbit hole. That's when the game really becomes digital crack. For me, anyway. I dismissed the mods for a long time. Then I discovered Stardew Valley Expanded. I now have nearly 30 mods installed and counting.
My mom's a girl so I might see if she would be interested in that, and set it up on her Ipad.

She's in her late 60's and is not really into games normally, but she plays sudoku, online hearts, quiz type games, and most horrifyingly.... some free to play but pay to do things faster Farm Game.

For the longest time, she was just playing it normally, not actually spending any real money on it. But then we found out she started spending a little cash on shit in the Farm Game, which I thought she'd never do since she's a dago, who are notoriously cheap. It's in their dna.

But, I guess she was hooked, so she did end up spending money in a free to play, crappy farm game.

She'll play for hours while her and my dad watch TV every evening, they have the time because they're retired. My brother had a brilliant idea though: since she was mesmorized by a shitty, Facebook tier Farming Game, she would adore Stardew Valley.

So he bought that for her and yeah, she did adore it. She became borderline obsessed with it. I played it for a while when it first came, so I knew a little bit about the game, so she would call me up and ask me how to do this or that in the game.

It was really funny explaining a video game to my mother. That's never happened before.

I didn't at all mind her calling to ask me Stardew Valley questions, but I could only help so much, because it had been so long since I played, I didn't remember everything, and I didn't get extrememly far into the game. I think I played one full year (4 seasons) in game before moving on to something else.

The next time I went to my parent's house, I showed her "The Stardew Valley Wiki", which could answer any question she may have been wondering about.

She couldn't believe that they even had something like that. She was surprised that people documented everything in the game and made it so readily available online. Remember, this is the first time she ever used the internet to get tips about a video game.

Later, when I talked to her, she was watching Youtube videos on Stardew Valley stuff, which is how she found out you could play as a gay character and have a spouse the same sex as your character.

She wasn't thrilled about that but I explained to her the deal with shit like this in current year. How it's easier for game creators to just leave that option open, allowing any character to date/marry any other, than it is to deal with armies of screeching retards online, who would try to cancel you and boycott your creation for not kowtowing to a tiny segment of the population.

And if you don't wanna play as a gay, you will never have to see or experience any gayness in the game. That made sense to her, and she didn't let it bother her. It's just that she is so far removed from all the culture bullshit in video games that's been going on for the last 10 years or so, it was somewhat surprising to see any gayness in a colorful videogame that children play.

But anyway, she ended up 100%'ing the game. Unlocked all the shit at the rec. center, all the home expansions, married, children, the whole thing. She was still playing and selling her crops, cheese, mayonaise, etc. while she had something like 50 million dollars lol.

She doesn't play it anymore. She's back to sudoku, online Hearts and online Yahtzee. It's been about 6 or 7 months since she stopped playing Stardew Valley. Next time I go visit at her house, I'm gonna see if she'd be interested in starting a new game with a few of these expansive mods installed.

When have you ever seen a girl play cities skylines?
Well, It's just different kind of autism I guess. My sister used to play the sims a lot and she told me how everytime a new expansion came out people were crying over how the windows can't be placed exactly right, toiletpaper rotated everyway or some other shit like that. I also learned that there is new similar game coming called Paralives, and The Sims fans are hoping it to be answer to all their autistic dreams. And end to the EAs jewish ways, Sims 4 with all dlc costs about 750usd. I also used to play it, but it got boring pretty fast because I'm not really into decorating and all that stuff in games.

I was that girl playing sim city (and cities in motion and later skylines).

I've been playing lots of otome video games lately. Otome (means "maiden" in Japanese) is a subgenre of Visual Novel video games designed for women. They are called "maiden" because they never show anything beyond kissing (but the characters do sometimes have sex off screen and it is implied). Visual novels are like choose-your-adventure books where your dialogue choices determine which route you partake in the game plot.

Consoles with otome are PSP, PSVita, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Playstations. Once upon a time, otome games were Japanese only and by grace of translators did the Western world receive them but thankfully companies like Hunex, Aksys Games, and Voltage localize them these days.

I find otome games interesting because of their wild plots. Sometimes they are cheap harems of handsome men surrounding one special snowflake female character (admittedly good guilty pleasures). Sometimes they are adventurous titles with routes where you don't end up with a man at all due to various circumstances. For my own amusement, I like to "award" one character from each game the title of "best boy", typically for being the most well-written, reasonable, and healthy of the character relationships.

A recent favorite of mine includes a PC port to Nintendo Switch named "Steam Prison", a story about a female police officer in a post-apocalyptic 1800s-styled European society. The story begins in the "Heights", where the sky is blue and air is clean. The Heights has a secret, however, and that all criminals the police arrest are sent to the "Depths", the world beneath the Heights. The Depths are the surface of the planet and is a dank, oppressive place to live years after a great flood encapsulated the planet. The Heights is a tall tower with a surface that sits above the clouds. People of the Depths survived the flood apocalypse with steam technology, which contributes to the smog, making it difficult to breathe alongside the high humidity. People of the Heights look upon those of the Depths with disgust and so a lot of "class" politics is involved in the plot.

The protagonist, after a series of events is arrested herself and sent to the Depths. She goes from a "strong female" character to confronting reality pretty fast as the naive sheltered princess she truly is when she experiences the Depths. In the Heights, the people use swords, and it is what the protagonist is trained in. In the Depths, people use guns and despise those from the Heights. Choose your words wisely to survive...

This title has six bachelors to choose from and you have to choose specific dialogue choices to reach their respective routes as well as unlock special bachelors with completions. Each route provides more revealing information about the world, in the end unlocking a "golden" route where everyone can be happy (otome golden routes typically don't get you laid though). Steam Prison is a fun game for it's incredibly naive, sheltered protagonist and unforgiving side characters who kill her or leave her for dead if you don't answer well. As an aside, the doctor character I chose as best boy as the route is rather wholesome, pleasant, and acknowledges that you can be the change to the world you want to see. The protagonist is also not useless there, which is always a plus because otome protagonists are typically useless sacks of shit.

This industry chart is a couple of years old, but still generally applicable. Girls care more about the genre and gameplay than whether or not there's enough pastels or too much boob armor.

I'm glad there is another otome fan here. I have been busy with a few crochet projects in my free time for various things so I haven't played a lot. I began CollarxMalice and got through Takeru's route before I stopped, but hopefully I can continue it. Definitely didn't expect to like CxM, but IRL friends kept begging me to play it.

I heard Variable Barricade is coming out soon this month (it might be already out, I don't know) I heard it was kind of a reverse romance where the goal is not to marry the guy and the guys are supposed to not have many redeeming qualities if at all.

I've recently read the mysery/drama vn The House in Fata Morgana. While it is not a shoujo/otome visual novel by any means - It's probably one of the best japanese works I've read so far.
I went in expecting the standard VN rigmarole of tropes appealing to horny japanese teenagers but I ended up getting an incredibly well done story about love instead.

The entire novel feels very unique, from it's art, music and story to the characters and their arcs.
It's hard to talk about it due to the mysterious nature of it all but I cannot recommend it enough if you have the patience to read vns.

Sorry for the esl formatting and all but I'll leave you with this track from the OST .

More otome fans is always good! 😊 I share my experiences and screenshots with my boyfriend and he is usually amused by the weird shit that happens in these games. I think guys interpret otome in a funny way because it's like watching one of your bros try to hit on a girl you know well.

On a side note, I keep up with otome titles using a site called OtomeKitten.com, who has walkthroughs, reviews, and posts about upcoming otome titles if you interested.

Collar X Malice is definitely one of the great ones. I love protagonists that show some level of competency at their role. I ripped the game's music because I particularly enjoyed it. Very reminiscent of Ace Attorney games. That standard police drama genre-type but endearing none-the-less.

Takeru's route I spent most of my time annoyed by his actions. He is a typical tsundere type (someone who is distant at first but shows affection overtime), but he doesn't show much deredere (loveydovey-ness) and thus feels abrasive in his combativeness. Reminds me of my ex. Luckily he isn't as combative in CxM Unlimited if you ever want to play the sequel game.

My chosen best boy for CxM was Okazaki for being a competent officer and overall hilarious character in every single route. I called him "hobo secret service" due to the way he sleeps in the alley and barges in through windows. He also has some sweet CG scenes and probably the most sexual of the bunch. I couldn't explain his hair, though. Reminds me of a fledgling owl. Fucking anime.

I haven't played too many otome games lately aside from Obey Me. That said, I recently downloaded Disney Twisted-Wonderland, and while it has the makings of an otome, it isn't one. The basic plot is that you get isekai'd to a world of magic where the characters are all men based off of Disney villains, and they live in dorms dedicated to seven of them.

I read Fata Morgana last year, and also finished both the prequel and sequel in the past couple months. It's absolutely an underrated gem with some downright beautiful art and music.

Yeah, I always find it funny coomers in Visual Novel discords complaining another otome game gets localized and not one of their waifu VNs. I mean, women like their VNs too.

Recently it was announced that Piofiore 1926 is going to have a special edition that you can preorder. I am debating getting it. I have a big back catalogue of games I need to get through.

Piofiore will forever be known as the "heterosexual sex saves the world" game to me. The plot of a 'certain character' in that game was so outrageous I can't imagine how it could be topped in a sequel.

Curious that Piofiore gets a sequel while Cafe Enchante continues to exist as the lunacy that it is. Truly a game where you win by not playing.

Do any of you like basic bitch restaurant games? My favorite it called Bistro Boulevard. I've played this thing like 8 million times. I give myself a weird parameter like, I'm only going to hire tall blondes. In this game you get 1 star for decoration, 1 star for discovering all the recipes, 1 star for "perfect days", 1 star for completing tasks, and 1 star for doing the other shit. Are there any other games like this? I don't like all the diner-dash clones that make you try to repeatedly match colors. I just use cheat engine and give myself an unrealistic amount of money.

God, I hated Dante's route for that reason. Orlock, Yang's, and Gil's though were great, but Dante can just... die... I was so happy when they killed him off in Yang's best end.

Oh yes, Cafe Enchante... that game was... trippy seriously, I was expecting a game about a cute cafe and I got... well... I still like my favorite glowie, Rindo.

Ok so after playing some of Variable Barricade I found myself on Nayuta's route. I just want to say if you intend to complete the game or otherwise choose him, prepare to want to vomit or otherwise shrivel up. The cringe is indeed real, ladies and gentleman.

Okay, good to know, I was planning to get it sometime this week.

I vaguely remember playing similar games, but I don't remember the names. I do remember a very simple, 2-D looking game called The Waitress. Really really simple, you played as a blonde waitress that walked like a mummy and had to serve different customers and all that shit. I was a bit obsessed with it, I don't know why.

And then there were Burger Shop 1 and 2, by Popcap Games (now owned by EA). I loved that game, it was about a fast food restaurant with a conveyor belt that dished out different kinds of ingredients, and you had to put them together to form the food for the customers.

I found the style pretty neat.

What's the most girly Elden Ring build?
In b4 blood build because obvious joke is obvious.

I remember liking this one, it was free and simple enough.

Christ, what memories you've just unlocked! I remember playing at both these games for hours and hours

Probably my favorite mobile game, though I haven't gotten into many, is Tripletown. It's a puzzle game somewhat similar to bejeweled in that it's mainly just matching things on a board with limited slots, but it has city builder elements and some satisfying progression. It's also got teddy bears in it, for women to enjoy.
