One thing that I hate about this game is how difficult it is to find people to co-op domains with that aren’t exceptional and won’t die within 2 seconds. When the person playing Hu Tao lasts longer than everyone else in a domain you should be embarrassed. I go though this song and dance every fucking day, I need to find ppl that consistently know how to play the game and know how to farm for artifacts.

just go on discord servers for the game, i consistently find competent helpers when i need them

I played through that when I saw a thing that said I needed an item from an optional quest thinking it was going to be just a quick quest one and done optional overworld deal only to find out it was a long ass entire loredump style plotline with it's own designated exclusive bossfight. Took me by surprise too considering there's 0 voice acting. It's surreal because compared to other optional quests like it have dedicated voicelines.

Another quest thats less intense but still high quality I ended up just stumbling on is the quest with the amnesiac samurai that's just standing around on one of the mountains. The entire quest is just you helping him regain his memories by doing shit like getting him wine and sparring with him. His model's identical to the enemy samurai NPCS but he's not really an enemy despite being a guy thats dueled countless other swordsmen to death before you got there. Why the fuck is it that some of the best plotlines in this update have come from characters made from slightly tweaked or completely unchanged NPC models? Not that it's bad, it's just interesting. Can't really envision the characters looking any different than they do in this specific case so I can't say they chose poorly in terms of model usage.

You can really see how the shit going on with inazumas just fucking horrible. The Archon's gone mad with power, though clearly recent, the effects are fucking seen throughout the fucking region and the land itself is becoming festering toxic corruption shit in some areas. The purification quest doesnt even fucking do jack shit to the areas with the poisoned water that kills you if you so much as go within a certain radius of it or th wilted trees that rain hellfire levels of electricity on you if you walk too close to them. It does howver bring up a very interesting thing which is the "residual filth manifestations" that have been showing up lately are purely violent malice tumor type shit which is abnormal. The other interesting/fucked up shit is the fact that when they confiscate and lock up visions in the statue it literally steals their memories and emotions, and unlike the samurai guy I mentioned earlier, it's much harder if not impossible for those to return. The "arrogant sounding lady" the archon apperently speaks with sometimes mentioned in the main story dialogue is probably if not definitely the same fatui bitch thats been manipulating shit and yoinking the god power crystals.

Rambling because I meant to get some shit done before going to sleep and it was a longer process than I intended lmao. I wanted to get these thoughts out too before that so here you go.
I kinda hope it's not the fatui causing everything again, but rather the Archon going off on her own accord. It was also interesting that the hero wasn't keen on joining the fight at first, though there's not a lot that can be done with it plot wise.
Also the two other big quests are kinda lame. Game design tip 101: If you make a puzzle about orienting mirrors, either give the player an easy way to access all the mirrors or make it so you don't need to return to the origin all the time.

Fischl was the MVP for that mirror tower puzzle.

As for the story:
I like the references to feudal Japan within in the story (people getting their visions taken away = Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Sword Hunt, which meant that anyone not part of the army had to give away their swords, so nobody could start a rebellion or an uprising. The swords were then smelted down and used as rivets and bolts to create statues of Buddha. Sound familiar? Also, the land is isolating itself, I guess most people know that from japanese history.)

I also don't think the Fatui are behind this one. It seems the Shougun would be too paranoid or proud to trust fantasy Russia's secret agents. Perhaps the Abyss Order found a way to corrupt the archon? Or it could just be that she is simply following her own goals, but something must have happened recently that made her become an uncaring dictator. I am also wondering if she had a big role in the destruction of Khaenri'ah and if she could give us more information about that. Who knows, maybe an evil advisor or a Kitsune or whatever is manipulating her/has manipulated for some time, which, while relatively predictable, would humanise her. She might be the archon of lightning, but she still has her own insecurities or ambitions that are being twisted.

Didn't know the history background, that's actually really clever. Inazuma closing their ports could be the archon fearing she's next on the chopping block after Rex Lapis, but it doesn't really explains why go vision hunting besides fear of potential competition. The most obvious plot reveal is that having too many vision holders will fuck over the world by making the abyss encroach on it.

As mentioned above, asking on the Discord co-op channels is definitely the way to go. There's plenty of bored AR50+ people perfectly willing to hop into your world and steamroll a domain, though many people seem to take this for granted. Over the last week or so I've taken to occasionally helping out people that ask, and maybe a third to half of them are attempting to take on a domain that they have no business doing as I pretty much end up soloing the entire domain with a single character since the only thing the other players accomplish is preventing me from using more than one character. It's always a relief to see someone that can at least pull their own weight and is capable of killing things on their own instead of being entirely dependent on me.

In-game matchmaking is a shitshow and a complete waste of time. You're lucky if you even make it into the domain.

So next update is apperantly the thunder archon and water Ninnuang as the five stars. I'm more hyped for the latter since I have Skyward Atlas and metric fuckload of water artifacts. Anyways I'm intrigued how broken the thunder archon will be.

Also I wonder if the game will have the player fighting against AI player characters. You'd think it will be a really simple thing to implement and make some memorable battles where team synergies will fuck you over.

I recently returned to Genshin a month or so ago, and it's been fun. I'm mostly just saving up for Cocogoat's rerun and grinding mats for Ayaka, considering I got her and best girl Keqing this week! Artifact farming's weirdly relaxing for me, considering I just go in co-op, turn off my brain, and go through my resin before I log off. Perfect substats aren't a concern for me at the moment, considering i'm not at that place to be autistic yet in spending weeks just for maxed out crit damage / crit rate rolls. It's nice that you can do all of your dailies and item farming in less than an hour or two, though, unlike other mobages that require you to treat it like it's a second job just to keep up with current meta shit.

this, stopped doing them after some ganyu tard got pissy about my lvl69 barb, because everybody knows for heals level is the most important thing ...

most of them aren't that hard anyway, all you really need is a char that can make use of the counter element/disorder to make stuff easier. of course if you're some metafag and you try to bring diluc into the electro domain you gonna have a fun time - no wonder some people want to get carried.

don't forget sakura yae miko is involved in the story too and has to be released at some point, and a ganyu re-run should be close too (albedo re-run never). imo doesn't really make sense to run her after the archon, and would be surprised if mihoyo is running the same banner schedule for the anniversary, but who knows at this point.
also sounds she more like a 5* barbara, while baal being either OP af or shit zonghli 1.1 style from the dps -> support conversion depending who you ask.

still pondering to just save to have primos for whatever comes up or blow my hard pity on the ayaka banner for the chance of more yanfei constellations... she's fun to play but with a 5* dps I always feel gimped from the lack of 5* weapons and constellations...

People genuinely getting pissed over level is so fucking funny. Some people get mad over others bringing in Amber, Lisa, etc etc. because they're 'starter characters' and thus weak as shit. It's like building them decent and knowing how to play them doesn't matter in contributing ... I don't think you should stop just because some dude concerned with 'muh numbuh levels' is taking it out on you. Barbara would be proud you brought her.

My experiences were domain have been decent-ish, though I do get an occasional sperg who gets angry over people leaving : had a guy that threatened to delete his game over the fact me and other randies had to go after running out of resin. Nobody ever complained over me bringing in Jean, even though my damage isn't near as optimal as i'd like it to be, but the heals are pretty good.

The problem with that for me is it would just take extra time and steps. If I'm playing co-op, its literally just because I want extra friendship exp on a specific character. I can steamroll basically every domain already, but companionship exp gets wasted if you're using a bunch of friendship 10 characters. Very superfluous and autistic thing to care about but its the only reason I dipped my toes back into co-op recently. It just wasnt worth the effort so I went back to solo'ing.
Plus sometimes I will only do one or two runs of a domain so having to setup a lobby just for that is kind of annoying, but if I'm doing like 5 condensed + more runs of one specific domain then yeah could be worth to find a decent group

I'm so glad I'm on 9 on the last two of my characters for that stupid achievement, finally being able to let Ganyu carry everything again feels good. It might be the most annoying achievement in its set, the time to do a fresh party of characters 1-10 is something like 2-2.5 months optimally and ~3 months casually. The resource drain alone to do this as quick as possible is also retarded. Not including your abyss teams there are also 8 bench characters you need to build decently, 2 or 3 of those you can skimp on probably. A problem in the resource grind for those characters is you need to use your built up characters to get the other characters gear so they can sustain themselves in the grind for another characters set of gear. Also enjoy yourself if you have less than 20 characters and have to waste a slot or have literal what the fuck composition parties. I don't even know why I'm so determined to be done with it when its only fucking 20 primogems and I've already gotten all of the good profile backgrounds.

I stopped playing coop once I got Hu Tao, the damage I could do solo with Xinqiu / Mona was insane. That and I kept being healed by Jean or QiQi. That's why I like event coop mini games, I can interact with other players without me getting autistic about numbers

Trying out a freeze team. Ayaka, Chongyun,Barbara and Mona. Do I need more talent investments for Chong (1,4,7) and Barbara (1,3,4) ?
Chongs field doesnt get much from levelling his talent so no not really. You could also replace both chong and barb with Diona for cryo res + healer then have your fourth be an anemo support. If you're using chong though slap a 4pc NO on him, his burst is really spammable.

I mainly stopped because it wasn't worth the drama (and wipes) for 2-3 runs per day to burn resin, and soon after I could clear most stuff faster on my own, most people aren't even aware of the coop scaling.
tbh never was a fan of the combat in co-op, it works well enough on it's own, maybe with 2, but 3+ gets clusterfucky fast and it doesn't help that mihoyo's combat design translates like crap into coop, where it's easy to get oneshot because it's telegraphed like shit, even more when 4 people blast particles around, and also means healing is pointless and you'd need to bring proper shields etc, which don't really scale that well for multiplayer either.

my go to fix for coop is eso, which is much better designed for it.

It might be the most annoying achievement in its set
*laughs in bounty of the earth*

daily commissions give you 340 companion exp per day and it translate 1:1 to resin spend (bosses apparently give a bit more), that's like 500 per day for 4 chars.
cap is 29k, so close to 60 days. although I mostly stop at 9 so I don't waste exp if I use some of them for bosses etc and rotate the rest. most commissions and domains are easy enough you can just move the gear over and be ok (helps that I level every char to 60/80 and 6/6/6 first). imo no point to rush it when I'm still not even halfway done with 800 leylines.

Couldn't you just put characters in the pot for passive exp gain?
Yes, but it's at a rate of 5 per hour assuming you've maxed energy for your pot (which can take awhile if you've just unlocked your teapot). Useful for supplementing exp from comissions and other sources, but not something to solely rely on.
