I'm giving it a shot, just got to the Raptors Den or whatever it is for the thief guy. Its an okay game, production value shows in the amount of VA and the cutscenes although I don't care about any of the story or lore so far. Never got too into Gacha other than Dx2 so I'm not sure on the meta for rolling generally; should I go for the Venti Banner and the Promo one, or just hoard everything I can until the content update/next banner comes out? Also it seems like I should just blitz through the story stuff, should I prioritize that?
there's no hurry, current story ends at AR30 anyway - after that it's doing your gatcha routine of burning resin and BP stuff while deciding what to spend it for, which takes like 15 minutes (you can do some farming but it's not
really necessary), plus whatever event is currently running. only reason to rush right now is getting to AR20 to get barbara (or AR7 for the primos iirc), but even that is active till 1.1 (november 11th), you can take your time.
so be aware that content will end at some point (rather abruptly actually) till they add more, but till then you can get a few solid hours out of it.
as for banners, check the details, it gives you an exact overview what's in there in what rate. standard banner usually isn't worth it since there's too much stuff with the same chance in it, it's basically bait for retards who can't read and just there to blow free fates (if you rolled it it's fine, but rolling it "to get X" like some people do is stupid).
the limited banner has usually boosted chars or weapons (again, check the details), it's up to you if you want to use your fates for that (and possibly spend cash to get what you want) or rather wait while accumulating fates for free. biggest honey trap in gatchas is impatience, and (for now) no content really requires paying for anything.
I think the Venti banner has been mathed out to have better chances for getting a 5 star character like Venti, while the other one with Jean/Diluc on it is diluted by weapons.
no need for math, it's pretty much spelled out in the details, afaik legally required. gatchas would kill for the zero oversight and free fudging of chances the west gets.
genshen impact's success in grafting mobile gacha into a narrative game plus successfully launching simultaneous mobile and consoles ports is going to disfigure the industry even more than it already is. games will be "free" in the sense that mobile games are "free." a no cover-charge experience designed to milk retards.
companies have been trying that shit for years with f2p and lockboxes, they're usually just too dumb/greedy for it. the difference here (or gatcha in general) is that they're smart about it - can't make money without spending money, and some people will never pay anything, but they
could pay in the future or at least populate the game and generate word of mouth, so it's a good idea to keep them around for the price of a few 1s and 0s instead of blowing hard cash on advertisement or "influencers". it's also much harder to get them back once they leave or to replace them, so free shit they get to keep players isn't a net loss (same way a download isn't a lost sale but pretty much advertising).
of course you'll get cases where it's better or worse, but that happens in every business model - unless you want to tell me 70 bucks + multiple season passes with microtransactions for a finite amount of game time or endless grind as content placebo is the better alternative. at least here in the worst case I only wasted a bit of time.
