Even knowing it's engineered to get me to spend money I find it an enjoyable game. I used my Google Play credit on the cheap battle pass because I've got nothing else to use it on. The resin timegate stuff isn't that bad since I'm able to use some while at work and thus continually have it regenerating. The expeditions are a nice income of supplies. Unlocking Xiangling for free is so far beyond me, even having her unlocked through Wishes and a party of 40+.

I didn't bother with rerolling through new accounts since lol it's a game and the free characters were good enough for the prologue quest line.

it's your average gatcha with the difference having an actual game attached to it and not just an autobattler for waifu jpegs you play on your phone while on the train or taking a shit. the game part was what drew people in, when the current content was done they got a culture shock with the gatcha aspect (which honestly isn't even anything new, timegates are old as shit now, even granddaddy WoW had them and no one complained - in a fucking sub game, people really like to get strung along), in any other game they would complain there's nothing to do till the next content drop. like they do in every game.

it's simply not meant to be played for hours every day, didn't help that were people blowing through it hard for MUH ENDGAME only to run into the gatcha loop of doing shit for 15 minutes a day (a bit more if you're start farming stuff early which doesn't require resin, gotta need some rare stuff that later on and ore is literally weapon exp just laying around).

usually the daily grind gets spiced up with events having you do different stuff so it doesn't feel too much like a chore, that's where they fucked up, especially when people are used it from other games where there's constantly something going on. it's also an easy way to dump older chars etc on you for free since they hardly make any more money from it when there are shiny new characters and shit to roll for and to clean up the pool a bit, but the game simply isn't old enough for it yet.
That makes sense. Even then, I still don't understand the praise shower the game is getting. Seems like same ol to me. Game gives you some content and then turns into the typical gatcha grind.

Who the hell would be elitist about this game? I mean sure if some one wants to whale to get his waifu he is just a idiot with extra money, more free game for the rest of us.

Like at that point the only acceptable response is to laugh at him and call him a retard.
The kind of people who act like they own the product.

my assumption is because the game isn't outright shit - it runs great, looks great, plays great (ymmv), no western idpol shit, it's something you'd pick up if you just want to run around with cute animu girls and collect some stuff without the game kicking you in the shins for trying to enjoy it or simply get it running. even when made as an outright product to sell gatcha rolls if still feels it's like an actual game where people put effort in (which by god is few and far between these days)

the "some content" for the average player is quite a bit of hours without ever feeling you're forced to drop money on it, so from a cost/benefit perspective you can get a lot of entertainment out of it for free. and there's isn't really anything to play anyway right now, so might as well spend it in there till you finish the content and then you're ready for cyberpunk or whatever else comes up this holiday season.

ive put around 100 hours into the game, (Adventure Rank 36)

The games difficulty ramps up at 35, at that point you have to know how every element reacts to what to kill enemies fast, or get lucky and pull Venti like i did, Venti is absolutely busted.

That shit with the dogs opium brothels and windmills is hilarious and the world looks fun, but it's so strange seeing people act elitist towards anyone who didn't pay money for a gatcha game. I didn't know people did that, is it some sort of crab bucket thing? "how dare you not waste your entire entertainment budget on waifus like I did". Also hearing the phrase "gatcha veteran" is incredibly depressing. Might as well just move to nevada and be a slot jockey at that point.
"Gatcha Veterans" can also include people who basically jump ship from one f2p gacha to the next, they're generally weebs who are cheap and want a grindy time waster with cute anime characters in it. So they pick up new gacha games just to see how far they can go. They're not the same as actual whales, there are people who I swear play "f2p-only" because they like the fact that the odds are stacked against them.

So, started out with Diluc and Keqing, after maybe 10 rerolls. Currently AR30, and I since then got Fischl to 5x and Xiangling to 5x(constellations) along with a Qiqi from the Venti banner. Done quite a few pulls since then(f2p, but you get a few a day at least) and will hopefully get Venti. If not that's alright, because according to some math I saw I am assured to get the limited banner's main 5 star even if a new one comes. The story, gameplay etc is of course all great. The world though is what I really like. Liyue in particular is awesome, and I find myself marveling at the scenery sometimes. Currently waiting for a grain of aerosidite so I can ascend Diluc's Prototype Aminus again. Shoulda thought ahead. Make sure you do domains for level up and ascension stuff! I could have prevented this wait if I'd just ran a domain in like 4 minutes the other day for 20 resin.

Lol its me

God damnit, got a lot of rolls from the devs giving free crack and somehow wound up with only 2 copies of the same fucking character (the earth witch) and 4 star swords (that I have too much of).

I'm giving it a shot, just got to the Raptors Den or whatever it is for the thief guy. Its an okay game, production value shows in the amount of VA and the cutscenes although I don't care about any of the story or lore so far. Never got too into Gacha other than Dx2 so I'm not sure on the meta for rolling generally; should I go for the Venti Banner and the Promo one, or just hoard everything I can until the content update/next banner comes out? Also it seems like I should just blitz through the story stuff, should I prioritize that?

I think the Venti banner has been mathed out to have better chances for getting a 5 star character like Venti, while the other one with Jean/Diluc on it is diluted by weapons.

With regards to the story stuff, it's the bulk of the content up until the end of the prologue when you'll be around the proper level for bosses and domains.

I hate this game.
more free game for the rest of us.
genshen impact's success in grafting mobile gacha into a narrative game plus successfully launching simultaneous mobile and consoles ports is going to disfigure the industry even more than it already is. games will be "free" in the sense that mobile games are "free." a no cover-charge experience designed to milk retards.

more chink gacha trash with some mmo elements sprinkled on top of it, whats new?

whats new?
The actual game part is really good, instead of endless menu fucking with occasional softcore like the games you're thinking of.

Seriously, I get the suspicion from everyone, but the game is just good. It's as simple as that. If the gacha was egregious it might dampen the fun, but the devs have a long record of generosity that's already proven to work. There's no reason to get greedy when playing fair has made them one of the biggest companies in one of the biggest markets in the world. If the future is 'pay what you want for quality gameplay', then I think the doomsaying is a bit much.

there's no hurry, current story ends at AR30 anyway - after that it's doing your gatcha routine of burning resin and BP stuff while deciding what to spend it for, which takes like 15 minutes (you can do some farming but it's not really necessary), plus whatever event is currently running. only reason to rush right now is getting to AR20 to get barbara (or AR7 for the primos iirc), but even that is active till 1.1 (november 11th), you can take your time.
so be aware that content will end at some point (rather abruptly actually) till they add more, but till then you can get a few solid hours out of it.

as for banners, check the details, it gives you an exact overview what's in there in what rate. standard banner usually isn't worth it since there's too much stuff with the same chance in it, it's basically bait for retards who can't read and just there to blow free fates (if you rolled it it's fine, but rolling it "to get X" like some people do is stupid).
the limited banner has usually boosted chars or weapons (again, check the details), it's up to you if you want to use your fates for that (and possibly spend cash to get what you want) or rather wait while accumulating fates for free. biggest honey trap in gatchas is impatience, and (for now) no content really requires paying for anything.

I think the Venti banner has been mathed out to have better chances for getting a 5 star character like Venti, while the other one with Jean/Diluc on it is diluted by weapons.

no need for math, it's pretty much spelled out in the details, afaik legally required. gatchas would kill for the zero oversight and free fudging of chances the west gets.

companies have been trying that shit for years with f2p and lockboxes, they're usually just too dumb/greedy for it. the difference here (or gatcha in general) is that they're smart about it - can't make money without spending money, and some people will never pay anything, but they could pay in the future or at least populate the game and generate word of mouth, so it's a good idea to keep them around for the price of a few 1s and 0s instead of blowing hard cash on advertisement or "influencers". it's also much harder to get them back once they leave or to replace them, so free shit they get to keep players isn't a net loss (same way a download isn't a lost sale but pretty much advertising).

of course you'll get cases where it's better or worse, but that happens in every business model - unless you want to tell me 70 bucks + multiple season passes with microtransactions for a finite amount of game time or endless grind as content placebo is the better alternative. at least here in the worst case I only wasted a bit of time.

Nah it had something to do with the total number of 4/5 stars in the banner. I can't find the post so maybe I'm just retarded but it was something along those lines.

Ended up pulling Mona and Xian from the discount banner, then the electric bird girl and another Xian on the Venti one. The hooks are starting to sink into me.

hm, doesn't really matter how many are in there tho, 0.6% chance, of that chance you got a 50% to be the boosted char, 100% if you didn't get it the first time (standard banner has a flat 0.6% for every 5 star, and there are both characters and weapons in it, that's why even with pity it's pretty meh). with 100s of different chars it wouldn't change, you'll get the boosted one at least every 180th roll. which also means for offbanner there's a 50% you won't get a non-venti even if you pull a 5 star (and if you do you won't the second time), so even with the better pool compared to the standard banner it's still not that good. the most sensible way is to wait for a diluc banner or whatever the FOTM is at that point (which could be in 4 weeks: 2 weeks for the klee banner, then most likely zhongli with 1.1 and then an older 5 star or another one that might come with 1.1)

they might have been talking about that 1.6% mihoyo calls "consolidated chance", since there's still discussion how they came up with that number and what it's actually supposed to mean (especially since the pity seems to be an increase over rolls, not hard counter. lot of people got their 5 star around 80).

Its fun so far tbh.

I just wish there was no gatcha elements

just imagine the banner to be a boss you can only summon with fates, and it's random what it's gonna drop. if you mean the resin, it's either limited number of tries per day, or if it wouldn't exist you can do it as much as you want but with 1% chance for the shit you actually want, so good luck.
