Saw this video recommended and got some insight on how arknights endfield changed from alpha to beta to become more fast paced and action oriented like zzz and wuwa. This video apparently sparked a mini debate on the fandom wether Endfield should be action or strategy.
Back in alpha you held the skill button for each member and it would freeze time to use items and skills so you can aim it and everything has different AoEs like a moba (line, cone, circle etc). This made positioning strategic as you would move and try to line up enemies to hit all of them at once, try to play around your allies, etc. In the beta it was removed for an auto lock on to the nearby enemy.
Another thing is how skills straight up don't have cooldowns anymore, instead you charge an SP bar by hitting the final attack in your combo and you can spend that on someone's skill (sounds retarded oh no) and now you get "combo skills" where you do a QTE for an ally to attack (like zzz). The idea is that you do a full normal attack chain then use skill then you combo team attack.
But the big one is that the game got a dodge button. It wasn't there originally it was put in the beta and it made possible to legit to play like a true but mediocre hack and slash action game, but dodge cancels your combo. This creates an awkward and you want to finish that combo for skill points.
This youtuber is really salty about it tho because the game turned more action and less strategic and he thinks the dodge should be removed because the genshin/wuwa/zzz normies are complaining about that it's not like zzz/wuwa and they will ruin his game. That's fair but he he's keeps blaming gacha players players being braindead and is too defensive over the devs.
Maybe the battle system was changed for a reason? The alpha combat doesn't benefit at all from the game's perspective, by that point just auto attack and give me a top down pov (wait... that's just normal arknights?). He says "people expect dodge to be rewarding" like that's wrong lol, yea people expect the system to synergize with itself and player skill. I don't play zzz/wuwa but if endfield wants to be an action game it better be a good action game.
One retarded take of his is saying pity not carrying over to the next banner is "the gacha system encouraging you to be strategic with your pulls", as if this isn't a predatory as fuck. I had no idea the game would have this bullshit lol, imagine being greedier than hoyo.
I won't pretend i know the solution but geez man, there has to be a middle ground somewhere. Strategy is a lot more about enemy and mission design than a dodge. If the core endgame is "kill this boss that is immune to all but 1 thing in 90 seconds" then it will be shallow anyway.
Fun Fact: Xinyan is one of the only 1.0 character that (afaik) still doesn't exist onscreen in any permanent content. She never appears in the main story, any character quest and has no hangout. Pray for rocker girl.

Right, my bad. I know about the agencies and studios Hoyo go through for their voice actors, I just default to saying Hoyo out of habit.
(I must be a fake fan because I didn’t get to finish this year’s Lantern Rite. No Xinyan? 0/10)
