Had some matches to grind, it is fun, they should keep this mode in general. I didn't play the last one, but this one does have one major issue, the hunter feels too OP. It's almost like playing an FPS with a hacker using an aimbot & wall-hacks, except the aimbot is literally a game feature. Combine that with movement speed upgrades & a power-up sensibly only able to be picked up by the Hunter is a fuck-up to go through. I actually won against that once too & was the last man standing, it was fun in it's own way.

That said, anybody with other power-up makes this mode fun to play, mostly because it feels fair to play.

I'll say it depends a lot on who plays on console, pc or mobile. I've seen some hunter who dont know how to look up so i assume they play on phone, while pc hunters are 360ing non stop. Stamina is also significant since even 180 to 240 is a big difference in a chase.

I wish they would add bonus for people for running away from the hunter. I spent over a minute "looping" a xiao by climbing a pillar, running, going invisible and climbing again but he got me near the end so i get less points than the rebels who stood still the whole match.

This guy on 4chan worded it more eloquentally than I could. Sums up my thoughts on not only the new grey husks but also elemental slimes and whatnot
View attachment 2891542

I agree but the husks arent supposed to make you save time, they're there to make you waste it, because at the end of the day all that matters is how long it takes to clear abyss right?

It's obvious the enemy design philosophy changed after inazuma, with every new enemy having either

-tons of hp
-stun/pull immunity
-damage resistance or invulnerable phases
-self healing of some kind (water specter and samurai duo)
-ability to dash / fly / teleport

Enemies are now designed around some sort of meta or character, not around being "immersive". Like, look at hilichus, they might be zelda goblin ripoffs but they're super fun to watch (they sleep, dance, etc), have their own culture and everything they do makes sense and can be countered. Now you have maidens with more HP than robots, balloon specters immune to wind and wolfs that can cut 1 person to make 4 bleed.

The husks "solution" to shield meta (zong really) is not only "unelegant" but also contrived and nonsensical. Why do they get buffs/heal when hitting shields? It makes no mechanical or world building sense. who created soldiers that can only use their powers against shields? They still cannot remove the shields so it's a not a great war strategy.

Even dumber cause """shields""" are mostly an abstract concept behind game mechanics (is christalize "canon"?). The only faction that uses shields in lore is the abyss itself (mages and heralds) but that's where the husks are from. It's not like shields are in-universe godlike tools that warrant creating a specialized army to deal with it. The husks literally only exist to slow down zhongli players because the devs regret overbuffing him.

Even the wolfs had more effort put into this since they can teleport, make portals and "erode through the boundaries of the world", so bleeding you through a barrier makes logical in-universe sense.

tl;dr: Yeah it's bad and not fun but it's ALSO stupid.

either way i tried new abyss floor 12 and pyro lector, pyro primovishap and pyro specters means diluc cant do shit. Guess i'll wait for next banner and try ganyu on one side and ayaka on the other. How cursed does Ganyu/bennet/ninguang/zhongli sound? Cause i think that's what i'll try out lol.

I pretty much ignore floor 12 because without fail every time I've done a run it goes beyond what annoyances I'm willing to put up with.

No joke, if I didn’t need to clear 12-3 for a Trophy, I wouldn’t even try. I still haven’t tried, mostly because like you said, depending on what the Abyss effect is it might go past how much stupid shit I’m willing to tolerate.

Damn, now I know how Itto mains felt last patch. Second half of Floor 12 is so favored by freeze teams, I felt like a whale.

lol my brother straight up refuses to do floor 12 cause he ends up yelling (he plays league of legends too tbf) but he wants the mora and xp so i do it for him. If one cant reliably survive tho, it's annoying and frustrating but if one doesnt mind getting 3/9 stars then it's not THAT bad.

I've got to say that this is one of the more wholesome threads here despite the sheer amount of autism and chinkism in and outside the game.

As someone who checks the genshin subreddits, glances over youtube guides and occasionally facebook by coincidence, i can confirm. It's like, i feel other gacha fandoms have this self awareness and self depreciation but not genshin's.

I guess it helps that kiwis are well aware of how autistic fandoms can get so we're chill about it.

I recommend at least trying and if you're frustrated stop and leave it at that. Even if you get no stars, you get some gold/xp/ore and that counts in the long run.

If it helps i find this new abyss is a lot better than the previous one. The wolves teleport so much i wanted to shoot myself but the current enemies are just robots, specters, heralds, primogeo and magu kenki. They're all very tanky but less annoying to fight.

Only reason i didnt finish it yet is cause i'm waiting for zhongs so i can bring him against primogeo, feels like i spend more time getting ragdolled than fighting. (oh yeah that one is annoying).

Finally a fellow sweatlord. Here's my clear:
screenshot_2022-01-16_04 33 43.jpg

I cut it really close and pretty much got garbage abyss cards across the board. both sides of 12-1 were a pain in the ass, Mona by herself takes too long to melt down the pyro lector shield. Also I had to reset multiple times on Kenki
Surprisingly tho Primo Geovishap was downed pretty easily with a couple seconds to spare even though I used mono geo. I think you really shred his defense when you shield is big boom attack

you meant to tell me you're not a whale??
pressing x to doubt
A side effect of the Windtrace event is that I'm being exposed to a much wider swath of the community instead of being more limited to just helping people with quests/bosses, and ho boy do some people need parental controls on their purchasing powers. When you have C6 of almost every limited character (including the ones that just came out) and R5 of their 5 star weapon, it's time to admit you've got a problem.

Admittedly my own problem is that I only really have two proper Full Teams that are set to go, as in Fully Ascended, Weapons Maxed, Skills Levelled, and Artifacts Not Shit (those being “Kazuha-Ganyu-Klee-Noelle” and “Raiden-Yoimiya-Ayaka-Kokomi”). I have a few other characters that are in the same boat that I can swap as needed (Zhongli, Qiqi, Barbara, Fischl, and Mona), but I’m still trying to build so many characters it’s not even funny - shit, half my time goes straight into Boss Farming for mats anyway.

They either need to up the resin cap, up resin regen speed, or both. 160 Resin, at 1 Resin every 8 minutes? Shit, even F/GO has better regen then that, and that game is remarkably Jewish…

From what i hear online a lot people buy the battle pass+welking so yeah no way they're bumping resin gen so soon.

Yo you're underselling your options there, your second team has no synergy at all (that's 4 people who want field time) but if you switch things around you can have 2 solid comps. Ayaka-ganyu-kazuha-kokomi/mona is peak freeze team and kill shit easily, the only problem is that you probably prefer kazuha on the other side.

Also be aware that just CLEARING floor 12 isnt very hard, only the stars. Surviving floor 12 is mostly about having a well thought out team comp that can sustain itself. I posted here my first floor 12 clear with Ayaka + 3 low level healers which is hella unoptimal but it's still a double cryo anemo hydro comp and that's just strong. For example lets say 2-3 ruin robots appear (they love these):

1-get in the middle of robots
2-hold skill + burst with diona (noblese buff procs ->+20%atk)
3-switch to sayu and burst ( VV procs -> -40% cryo res)
4-switch to lvl 50 barbara and press skill (freeze all enemies cause they moved towards you and attack the shield)
5-switch to ayaka (r5 TTDS procs ->+48% atk), burst -> skill -> n2C all 3 at once while they're frozen
6-restore energy (sac diona, fav sayu) and reset

Boom, a room that could be extremely annoying yet i consistently clear with just ayaka using a 3* sword (Hod), 2pc hybrids and 3 supports with unleveled artifacts. This is what i genuinely like about playing abyss, when you have scuffed teams you must play smart to get away with it.

My diluc+bennet+xinqiu team is a lot weaker because i have nobody to use on the fourth slot (sucrose is c0 and rosaria brings anti-synergy) so it hope zhongli fixes that.

And regarding the resin cap, the original cap was 120 which actually made impossible of clearing the daily BP quote in one sitting so it forced people to log twice per day. Did you know the events used to take resin too? And there was no weekly boss discount?

Gachas tend to get more newcomer friendly with time so hopefully genshin gets there. Even something like 10 resin per hour and 200 cap would help. The weekly bosses also need to be free considering they keep adding more of them and it eats so much resin, you cant even do them all in one day. With the next boss we'll have 6 which is 30x3 + 60x 3 = 270 resin.

I’m not gonna argue that, I mostly just threw that team together around Raiden and Yoimiya (Overload Machine Gun goes BRRRRR - it’s the only Electro reaction worth a damn anyway).

Would Jean work well in that comp? Got spooked by her a while back, and actually have a SSR sword for her (Skyward Blade), she just needs a but more work before I’d consider her good to go

Why are you not using jean she's so great i wish i had her so much lol (i play her on my brother's account). Yes, go train Jean ASAP, she's one of the most flexible chars in the game and cover's both the VV+healer role while bringing good dmg. Ideally you want atk%/anemo/CR or CD (jean skill hit so hard she doesnt need EM) but if you dont have the time, just give her atk/atk/atk and even with a lvl6 burst she's going to heal fully (best burst heal in the game). She can hold any ER sword but amenoma (4* craftable) is also godlike on her.

Altho you can also leave Jean on the other comp and trade her for noelle, who isnt optimal as a solo geo healer. Then put kazuha on the otherside, this way you have vv on each side. With your current characters, you can actually make two freeze teams.

>Ayaka - cryo - jean - mona

A hard hitting freeze where you want to burst with mona then ayaka in a vv targeted. You can put fav rosaria, sac diona or sac chong here, they dont need to be strong, only need to battery ayaka.

>ganyu - cryp - kazuha - kokomi

a team with less burst dmg but much more aoe and cc, should be pretty safe.

Funny, i was thinking pyro comps and typing "and you put bennet here" but then i realized you didnt mention bennet. I feel like i got really spoiled by getting bennet so early in the game and getting 5 copies on standard (he is c6 but i refuse to activate).

And that's the trap of genshin "guides", they sound good on theory but no player is the same on practice. The best lesson you can learn is how to get value with what you currently have.

That being said, there are still some workable comps there. if you're unsure then just train Jean, she's a super flexible and fun unit who can be thrown on any elemental comp. Just putting her on noele's place already boosts that team by a lot.

In my defence I got Jean long after I maxed Kazuha, she’s just been a work in progress for a while. Grinding Skill Books is pain, but a necessary pain. Noelle at least I managed to get a Maiden Beloved set where all her Artifacts had Def%, so while she isn’t always a reliable Healer or Shielder, when she provides heals she heals a lot - and it makes a nice Emergency Nuke situation with her Burst.

Bennett meanwhile, ran into the problem of me not having any Hydro characters other than Barbara properly built to keep up with Bosses as my Adventure Rank went up, so fighting the Fire Tree was just a tedious pain in the ass. I’m currently working on that - downsides of viewing the game as a character collector (I have, no joke, every character except Itto, and that’s on buying almost nothing but Welkin and BP. The Resin Cap is not my friend.)

I think it's more that, unlike other gacha, Genshin has actual gameplay and bearable pity. Not to mention it's apperant that some of the devs care about the game to add a lot of small details rather than just crap out the modern day boring sandbox.

Funny what you say about bennet since the only reason i trained Bennet was cause i felt his boss was SO much easier to farm than barbara's and noele's (i didnt know how good bennet was at the time). Pyro regisvine has to be the weakest boss in the game, the core takes fixed damage on reaction so a level 1 barbara can stun it by tapping for a few seconds, then you pass TTDS and attack with the rest of your team (i used beidou and rosaria early on).

And now for something completely unrelated, i got bored and talked with the windtrace npc and found out the devs made the in-universe game developer whine about the playerbase being full of scrubs, which is pretty hilarious.

The map complaint is somewhat fair tho, if a player didnt reach inazuma yet thent they'll have no idea where they are. I wish we coul try out the maps in singleplayer.

The funny thing about the comments the NPC makes is that they're even more true this time around. In the first run of Windtrace, while a competent Hunter would almost always stomp the Rebels with little effort, Rebels generally did have more escape options (and there were far more props littered around the map to blend in with) and being in a chase with the Hunter wasn't an automatic death sentence as while you couldn't outrun them you had the potential to juke/break line of sight and make the Hunter put in so much effort they often decided looking for someone else was a better use of their time. Now, you have much fewer props to hide amongst and more open maps without ways to break the line of sight outside of the invisibility skill, so well done there.

On the flip side, the Hunter will either curbstomp the Rebels often without using their skill/favor within a minute or they'll run around and find absolutely nobody without much middle ground. Mihoyo latency can sometimes make catching people much harder than it should be, but it's really the Hunter's game to lose. Unfortunately, the device you play on still plays a large role in how effective a Rebel/Hunter you are, as those on mobile devices are far easier to juke or hide in spots that people on consoles or PC would clearly notice you. If I know the Hunter is on a mobile device, I can get away with so much more than I could against a Hunter on PC/console. My default tactic is to never be a prop at all and not only do I win the overwhelming majority of the time, I'm usually never seen at all even when I stand in plain view.

No joke, I’ve probably had a few people throw their phones, all because I just climb a cliff in the corner of the map. I actually took pity on one poor bastard that had 30 seconds left, used his Favour and never came close to me - was the Mondsadt Forest Map, the one with the waterfall, was as high up the cliff by the waterfall as I could be as Qiqi with the Hunter running around beneath me spamming Capture, I just put “look up” in Chat. Glided away as he tried to climb up, I could see Capture being spammed behind me - first time I’ve had someone actually use the in game Chat to go off on me.

That or the one Quice (sp?) Village map, theres a cliff that has some shrubbery growing out of it, I just climb down to there and go make coffee. Being a prop is overrated.
