What are your thoughts on this game? I'm completely fine with the gacha since nothing can be worse than FGO's, and the gameplay looks interesting.
Fairly positive. Despite being simplified for mobile peasants, combat is pretty enjoyable though I often wish characters had more than more than four attacks (light chain, charge attack, skill and burst). Elemental reactions could use a slight overhaul as Melt/Vaporize reactions overshadow everything else, as why bother with debuffs/DoTs when I can just murder it that much faster instead.

Exploring the world is definitely the game's strongest aspect, as whenever a new area is released my priorities shift towards seeing what's there, coming back to the new related quests/plot later after I've explored as much as I can. Voice acting can be a mixed bag, but the music is well done and can really set the mood for a particular area (think of the Mist Island). Plot is generally fairly predictable if you've been paying attention, and not really mandatory.

The two negative sticking points are the endgame and the gacha. Endgame is pretty much just repeatedly grinding/storing materials that you might use on a new character someday and trying to get randomized artifacts with somewhat better stats than what you're currently using, or just waiting for a new short event to come along to have something to do. While you can complete the game as a free to play, if you want new characters you must brave the gacha and even if you're lucky and pull the rarity you want, there's a 50% chance it's not going to be the character you want. The weapon banner is best avoided, as your collection of decent weapons will slowly grow from the character banner pulls. So while it's not FGO bad, it's definitely not Azur Lane good either (where as a F2P you can reasonably pull everything from the gacha, always, without having to shell out any money).

plus there is little to no endgame once you get caught up on all the quests and content.
not really an issue imo, I get my "endgame" fix from other games, and I at least want to get to the point where I can feel I'm "done" till the next patch comes out and not play the same game for hours for days/weeks/months/years. you already have the grind with the game wanting you to log in twice a day, I don't really need an ingame-grind on top of it (and certainly not with the asian mentality in mind, but ESO has ruined me in that regard anyway since most of it's grind is deterministic). I'm more likely to drop a game from burn-out and boredom if it wants more than a casual commitment these days.

as much as I dislike the artifact RNG, I can understand why they did it and tbh at some point there's simply nothing else to spend resin on unless you want to upgrade everything to max talents (but then you're still capped by boss drops). once you understand how it works it's not too bad, but the management and how you're supposed to get it done is royally annoying. I'm at a point I rather trade my resin for straight artifact exp to level and "finish" what I got to separate the crap from the good stuff, than get distracted by constantly getting showered by new potentially good artifacts.

disagree on the f2p part tho, even if you open your wallet (which gets highly expensive fast after the first 2x bonus) you still need to plan ahead what to get, all it requires is some discipline and selfcontrol not to blow what you get for free. of course that means you won't get every char (and never the weapon), but otoh there's really no reason to, and even less if you're a not an abyss sweatlord. collecting waifus is the real endgame.

So I didn't get Itto or Gorou instead I got Barbara and Keqing. I used Barbara in a domain a few times and it's nice to have a hydro character. But I'm not familiar with Keqing, is she a good 5 star or not?

>electro
there's your answer.

fun to play and top waifu but outclassed in the dps department due to her element. as for barb, be aware that she wets herself using her elemental skill and you can't heal without it, which can have interesting effects once you encounter cryo or electro enemies. you can still put thrilling tales (easy to get, if you're out save those 3* in the future) on her for an easy and cheap buff.

on the upside, barb is more versatile (not that there are many hydro chars to begin with) while gorou scales of geo chars, not sure about itto but from a cursory glance feels he wants a built-for team which kinda pigeonholes him. there's also a slim chance electro might get a buff down the line with dendro lol never ever

But I'm not familiar with Keqing, is she a good 5 star or not?
Unfortunately, no. Her kit is fun, but her element and kinda low base damage work against her (if Kekqueen isn't critting, she's doing little damage). She'll never be useful for any sort of elemental reactions, but since she gains Crit DMG% by leveling you can build her physical or electro with Crit% stats and use her as a field hog to stab things to death. Kamisato Ayaka is pretty much Keqing 2.0, having an easier elemental infusion, better element and a burst that actually deals damage.

Plus, just about every single domain is almost purposefully built to discourage anyone from using Keqing.

As someone who got keqing as my 4th 5* and searched her issues

The good
+Gets critdmg on ascension
+if you whale, she gets more value from mistsplitter than ayaka
+is cute
+skill is fun to use and very useful for exploration, i switch to her when hunting oculus

The bad
-overload is unplayable cause it pushes enemies away
-super conduct physical lacks aoe is argueably worse than razor who argueably a meme
-electrocharge is strong when assuming you have godtier supports
-pure electro is actually okay since keqing is still the only real field electro dps in the game
-pyro and cryo keqing exist because niggas will try everything, at least frozen enemies dont get launched
-only 2 particles for 7.5 sec long skill, if you aim up and plunge (actual fun) you get no energy
-electro infusion from skill only lasts 5s instead of 12+ like a normal person (diluc, noele, etc)
-Burst is somehow weaker than Amber and mostly used to get free 15% crit from passive
-combo is argueably worse than some 4*s like kaeya (who has a surprisingly strong combo tbf)
-Has a strong charge attack but pushes enemies away and costs more stamina FOR NO REASON.
-bad subdps and cant be used as offfield dps, much worse than beidou and fish
-Some of the worst 5* constelations in the game, especially compared to Mona and Jean holy shit

tl;dr: She is one of the weakest 5* but the normal game is super easy so she is still viable. Play abyss at your own risk.

Keep in mind that you can simply ignore everything i said and have fun instead. I see a lot of genshintubers legit say Diluc is "the worst 5* in the game" because xingling and hu tao are better but i dont care. I dont want to play xingling or hu tao, i want to play diluc so i'll play diluc, goddammit.

And since i'm here, leakers are saying these are the next char and weapon banners

Xiao or Shenhe -> Yunjin , Ninguang and Xongyun

Shenhe spear , jade spear ; Flute, widsith, fav bow, fav clay, lythic spear (Yes, that's two 5* spears)

Sad if true, i was expecting an anemo there for xiao instead of ninguang.

For those who dont know yet, Shenhe's spear is 714 atk 16% atk spear that gives you an atk bonus when you use your skill. That bonus raises overtime and actually doubles when you're offfield. Kinda underwhelming on anybody except shenhe since her kit doesnt actually snapshot.

If you like her you can easily make her slap but the standard banner 5*s are basically 4.5*s except for Mona
Electro route I would recommend Keq + Xingqiu + fischl/beidou + kok/jean/sayu
You could also play her as a physical dps (charge attack after the E to blow up the sigil instead of infusing her attacks with electro). Pretty much any comp that eula or razor would use works. Just fill the other 3 slots with cryo and electro supports, or general damage buffing units like Bennet/Zhongli/Sara

I started playing this casually and I'm really enjoying it. I'm currently running a team based off the free wishes I've managed to get: Mona, Xiangling, Kaeya, Barbara. Is there an obviously better comp I could be running with the characters I have? The only non-storyline character I have other than these is Razor.

Considering Razor is a bit of a meme (IDK why tho, I thought it's cause he's a stand user in GI world). I'd say you have a fairly good team.

Just don't use Barbara in Dragonspine, she's kinda useless there & more of a liability then ever. I'd say the same for Kaeya, but he could be great if used right (He's my best & kinda only sword DPS due to the fact that he's the only character apart from MC I have a constellation on).

Yeah that sounds like a good idea. I'm getting my ass kicked apart by that timed challenge in Dragonspine near the water on the "In the Mountains" quest, it's the closest I've come to wanting to throw my controller while playing this game lol. I'm just going to wait until I'm overleveled.

Yes, this place sucks ass, unless you can delete most mobs in seconds. And you need at least one pyro unit there overall.
Also I recommend to not roll right now. Next patch, particularly second half of it, is very promising. Both five stars are quite good.

You can trade xingling for anemo traveler and try freeze kaeya OR xingling for razor and play physical +superconduct/shatter. XL is strong but she needs a pyro character to feed her ult, but she's still workable on that team.

If you're playing dragonspine, i recommend using noele instead of barbara (if you have her) and use a pyro/claymore dps for the ice shields, trying to do it early on is really frustrating.

If Mona was your first 5* character from the limited banner, then the next 5* should be guaranteed, i recommend waiting for the zhongli+ganyu banner and getting one of them since they're both extremely useful and easy to use.

Razor is considered a meme cause he ONLY attacks. His skills end up weak cause you dont build electro and his burst only exists to give him atk speed for 15 seconds which is difficult to make a team* around. He is as ungabunga as it gets.

Razor is actually underrated since he's technically one of the best physical characters in the game, the problem is there are barely 5 good physical chars in the game so that's not impressive. Physical in general isnt "optimal" because you waste your elemental dmg and robots have big phys resistance and they're always at abyss.

The reason Eula works is cause she gets around all the problems of physical. She shreds resistance, has some actual AoE, both her hold skill and burst do physical damage and she can nuke stuff in 7 seconds. Razor cant compete with her but can still ungabunga fine in overworld, he just lacks the shred/aoe/nuke for abyss.

And since i'm here, i'll share that i was doing the amplifier quest and somehow a lawachul dashed on top of tower and is throwing rocks at me, which is a funny sight at least.

edit: this is actualy cancer wtf i already lost 2 character trying to climb it

So has anyone else been turning on the debuffs in the new event or am I the only masochist here? JUST managed to finally 8k the first chamber (zhongli/noelle/diluc/xingqiu). The second one was pretty trivial with a standard Noelle geo comp. The third one I havent started on but it seems like total ass cancer
I know its a dumb meme since you max out at rewards at 12k but eh, not like theres any other goals to chase in this game

Damn bro did you reroll? Mona is probably the best standard roll you could get as your first 5*
Thats a pretty good team, I dont think you need to change it.

Thanks for the advice! Those comps sound really cool and synergistic, I might consider switching over.

From your post and the last few pages of this thread it seems people are hyped for the next banner, so I'm glad I saved a few rolls in primogems at least.

Nope, just lucky I guess! I threw in $15 because I've been enjoying the game but I didn't get anything more than a 4* weapon and a duplicate Xiangling out of it.

Nice. I wouldn't recommend topping up in this game at all but if you enjoy the game Welkin($5/mo)+BP($10 every 6 week patch cycle) are pretty reasonable and give you a lot more primos/resources to play with.

The second incoming banner is great because it's two extremely solid and versatile characters. Zhongli is the best shielder support in the game and ganyu is very strong archer with great off field skills so both can be used on many teams.

If you want to put money in this game, dont buy currency outright, the only things worth buying are:

welkin boost (5 dollars)
-300 genesis (can buy skins or convert to gems)
-2700 gems over 30 days
-You must login everyday, but ONLY login, if you dont feel like playing at least log to get this

Battle pass (10 dollars)
-money, exp, ore and other resources
-4 inter fates + 680 gems (9~ fates)
-1 strong 4* crit rate weapon you can choose

You can also pay extra 20 dollars (lol) to get 10 battle pass levels and a profile card. Dont do that. Also, dont use crystals on resources bundles, only buy intertwined fates.

So in case it wasnt obvious, either are cheaper than the 15$ trade and come with way more gems, the only downside is that you have to login everyday and level up the battle pass (or buy it at level 50).

I'm only buying welkin for a few months and despite the ridiculous conversion (30 reais), i think it's worth it since it allowed me to stack enough rolls to ensure two 5* i really want now. It's not great if you have no rolls and NEED the current banner but it's good for saving on the long run.

I tried the third one and gave up trying to get +6k. it's just PMA but you take free damage every 2 seconds which isnt my idea of fun. Good thing i got 6125 +6125 from the previous ones so no need to tryhard, just killed on easy and finished.

I still remember the last whale check and the shit they pulled in the last arena, I'm waiting to see if I can get max rewards without getting pissed off, else I'm not even gonna bother and just finish it once for the primos.

the 2x bonus is ok, but that's only once per year each. welkin + BP is definitely the way to go, especially since BP has pretty good weapons (there are more in the shop but imo not worth it when you can spend the starglitter on chars or constellations instead, especially if you got the BP).
I'd also save the crystals in general and not turn it into primos outright, shop stuff will always be crystals and if you really want something for your waifu/husbando you gonna smack yourself for wasting it and having to buy bundles again (which sucks even more if you already used the 2x bonus).

it really comes down to not falling for the FOMO and patience.

-electro infusion from skill only lasts 5s instead of 12+ like a normal person (diluc, noele, etc)
with enough ER you can bridge that with the burst, thundering fury will also reduce the CD, and it makes sense to build her for electro from the start since constellations shift her in that direction anyway (like fischl and beidou). the idea is that you constantly rotate everything, that's why c6 gives you a buff on top.

(there are more in the shop but imo not worth it when you can spend the starglitter on chars or constellations instead, especially if you got the BP).
I'd disagree and say half of the shop weapons are worth the starglitter; the royal series can take a hike but the Blackcliff weapons are definitely worth it, though the bonus is situational and not really useful in boss fights.

I'd say the blackcliff weapons are a bit underrated as "filler" weapons. I've been passing the sword between Bennet(high 4* base damage which is the only thing that counts towards his buff) Kaeya, and Ayaka and I just recently bought the bow for Fischl.
Death Match and Serpent Spine are obviously hard to top though, they are so good especially with more refinements. Serpent Spine at R3 is around R1 WGS level, and R4/R5 straight up shits on R1 WGS.
BP Bow is mid, Black Sword is fine we just don't have an amazing user for it yet, Solar Pearl is great but not broken.

Being overleveled is the best way to get through most of this game. I'm AR25 since the 3rd day of playing this game (I only starting playing a month or 2 ago) & I kinda have 110k+ AR points.

As for In the Mountains, I didn't even knew how to do it at first. One day, some rando joined my world & he just said while completing the other 2 apart from the Domain unlocker one that "You'll thank me for this later", I randomly did that quest & I only had to do the in cave challenge (absolute hell with all that Frozen, let me tell you) & later all of the Domain unlocking & all.

This quest is basically mental torture, like all of Dragonspine. It doesn't give enough to make it worth it.

I kinda just Metal Gear Solid'd it, I just glided towards the one where your Lawachurl is standing 『M E N A C I N G L Y』, & then climbed the other one later on. He only found me after I broke the 2nd one. It's very weird how he's still annoying while he's just LvL 24, where I'm LvL 50 with 3 big damage charas.
