I have no interest in Star Rail and have been disappointed every time I've checked new posts in this thread for the past couple weeks.

I wouldn't mind spinning HSR onto its own thread since I only played Genshin for like a month.

Also trying to look up shit for Star Rail on the internet is complete cancer.

I just want to know if the higher levels of Echos of War give you more rewards but google helpfully gives me a bunch of soyface videos that I am not going to even fucking bother watching. Basically should I hold off until I hit equilibrium 3 before doing it this week or not.
I've kinda got in on the Pump n' Dump myself after getting FOMO from the Prime Gaming reward. I actually surprisingly like it, despite hating turn-based games.

Higher tier equilibrium difficulty will give you like one additional purple tier material drop.
Echo of War E3 gives you two, then E4 gives you three.
HSR EoW.png

It's only E5 that give you two 5* relic drop, people then switching to idea better to farm relic at that level. Since the amount of required credits and level up materials are a lot - really expensive, it's not enough to farm for 8 characters from Trailblazer level 50 to 60.

IMHO, building 8 characters for a full two-team in MoC/Abyss isn't really worth it right now unless you are a whale. Just focus building one team, then additional one or two characters for swapping appropriate weakness element. If you have one team can auto-mode in simulated universe at highest possible difficulty in any world you like, it's good enough.

Use your trailblazer fuel if you think you can push it to next Equilibrium level before weekly reset, because weekly simulated universe rewards is better at higher tier.
Doing SU can be boring after a while, but for now it's the only way to farm little bit of more green tier relics exp and credits.

I just wait until Sunday to do them every week. That said, they are worth doing for the MoC currency to get dupes to superimpose.

genshin is on a filler patch right now and the thread is much slower anyway while we're not on the clearnet.

should pick up next big summer patch and then fontaine-hype while people come out of the HSR honeymoon...

I'm surprised at how much I want the Golden Apple Archipelago to return this summer, and how disappointed I am that it probably won't. Leaks for 3.8 show a different event map in Sumeru, which I guess is going to be our summer vacation this year.

I shouldn't complain about getting something new, but I like tropical islands a lot more than rainforest.

If nothing else I'll take Rainforest over Desert and more goddamn CAVES. We spent more time underground than anything else this fucking region...

I'm not looking forward to Fontaine having a Water Temple.

Of all the things that annoy me in Genshin as a new-ish player, it's probably the events. Maybe I'm just spoiled by FFXIV where most events can be done in an hour-long lunchbreak, but the fact that Genshin events appear so frequently, have so much actual goddamn story-relevant content, and take so long to churn through feels very annoying.

It also feels incredibly strange that so many resources go into things which will exist for a couple weeks at most and then just disappear.

Anyway, the TCG event was alright. I enjoyed how most of the card battles were draft format so I didn't have to go work on my deck to participate. The payoff was shit but I won't say no to a free 4* bow and a crown along with some more screentime for my wives.

this is the part that really bugs me. i started playing a couple months after release so i missed the event with fischl/mona/scaramouche and i'm still annoyed about it. it would be really nice if at some point they made it so older events are replayable, even if there aren't any rewards and it's just to see the story related content. i've heard that star rail actually has this so i have no clue why they can't implement it in genshin

Playing Genshin and expecting story to actually feel pay off in a long run will only set up for disappointment.

I don't want to say this whole thing below in a bad way, it's just how the game design.

(Edit, add TLDR: I recommend you to skim through dialogues in events, not like game allows you to skip dialogue very fast anyway. You should still able to get the gist of what is going on.)

Game has a fixed schedule new contents update every 1.5 months, pretty much any events are created in mind gameplay first, story later. And by now you should know event stories are kinda like glorified "hangout events" for easy primos and materials in game. Considering the game likes to have players log in daily, have fun coming back next days to proceed next part of the events.

Event quests are glorified "hang-out" events, not really plot important, just feel like some cameos, new 4* character or at least potential playable character introduction (Pokemon event with Layla, current TCG with Kirara) or maybe a bit more friendship relationship between playable characters.

Story in this game that actually mattered is archon quests (obviously main questline). World quests are side quests that are just side world building and exploration. None of the actual playable characters are even used for these world quests, which is one of the thing I dislike or feel like big miss-opportunities in the game.

By that I mean, for example if they have used playable characters for areas like upper Chasm, Enkonomiya, and most of Sumeru desert part. I may have cared lot more after I finish bunch of quests around those areas.
Probably unpopular opinion on desert areas, I like them and I find Liloupar is way more interesting than Jeht depsite how many loving Jeht.

For areas, I'm okay with using side NPCs, Seirai and Tsurumi island, unironically forest part of Sumeru (despite how many times I say I dislike Aranara questline) and two new areas for Sumeru with Pari.
The underground Chasm is debatable for me, the early part you have to deal with ZhiQiong, she's so stubborn and annoying. The end with her questline feels so unfulfilled, you really "can't do anything" and none of the other related NPCs feel like they care enough.

there's only one flagship event per patch, which takes like 2-3 lunchbreaks tops. rest is usually filler with some minimal backstory attached (like the current one), but that's usually it. although they're sometimes gated behind other story and worldquests, so usually a good idea to keep up with those too. but again that's like 1-2 quests in 6 weeks, plenty of time to do it in little small chunks. think of it being max-level in ff14 and waiting for the next patch.
half the time they're not that important anyway, can't even remember what the first windblume was about...

and mihoyo gives no fucks, if that leak by the chinese tax-office is legit they made so much fucking money in 2022 it's mindboggling. that's probably why they can create a banger boss theme for a summer event only available for 2-3 weeks...

probably because genshin is over 2 years old while star rail simply doesn't have that load (yet), quite literally in file size alone. apparently mihoyo said somewhere they're looking into it, but given their general lack of putting in QOL I wouldn't hold my breath.

for old events there's a writeup on the wiki, and a few videos around (english dub, but still):

first channel also covers other stuff easily missed etc.

pretty sure a big reason for that was the first lantern fest (or the event before) where you mostly interact with random NPCs and everyone was complaining and whining how they should use existing characters. cue next patch and it's the glorified hangout you described ever since - which is fine, but also makes the feel way smaller than it needs to be always tripping over the same characters over and over...

I do like how HSR will allow you to replay missed events and just give you half the rewards. I started Genshin on patch 2.1 and it was annoying how the game expected me to know who certain characters were because they were introduced in 1.5 or something.

btw, anyone who wants to do the pain in the ass elemental specialist achievements, the current even allows user content - which people promptly used to build arenas to do those the easy way. might as well make use of it while it's up.

Underground map is coming soon and few more quality of life map navigation for quests and commission.

none of those "WoW" me tbh. maybe 1-2, but with my luck chiori will be used in star rail.

also interesting that there are STILL some pairings missing. at this point I'm sure they gonna keep cryo catalyst off till snezhnaya and give it the tsarista. fuck fontaine is the hydro nation and there is STILL no hydro claymore?

Chiori won't be in Star rail, because leaks for Star rail already list a bunch and she isn't on the list. Also, space Japan shouldn't be out at least like two years in Star rail and funny thing that leaked characters are up to like 2.x or something.

Charlotte is supposed to be cryo catalyst, but like a 4* version of Baizhu. However, after Dehya thing, I don't really trust leakers about character function until actual gameplay video.

About Snezhnaya, after Star rail, I won't be surprised if there are Bronya and Seele equivalent. Same thing how Raiden and Yae copy from Honkai Impact.

things chance constantly, a good design is a good design and there's enough overlap it can be used wherever (or never at all).

saw charlotte run around with a cryo vision, but it's not even about leakers, after dehya mihoyo making it shit on purpose (or not giving a crap) is very much on the table, so while I'd love to see cryo yanfei, she's probably more cryo lisa, so I'm not getting my hopes up.

Edit:
Stream is mostly about major event next patch, but around 32:33 is small preview of Fontaine city and a bit of swimming.
neat.
expected it to be tomorrow again, dunno why they moved to a saturday to begin with.

EDIT: grab the mails and see it's cyno's birthday. those puns are killing me in a good way

More leaks

New strongbox artifacts and new BP weapons.

Fontaine map, wingglider, two new artifact sets and 4* craftable weapons

New artifact 1.png New artifact 2.png

Despite picture names I use, it hasn't determined which goes to which.

Set 1
2pc: NAs, CAs dmg increase by 15%
4pc: CR increases by 11% when HP changes occur, for 5s duration, can stack 3 times

Set 2
2pc: Elemental skill dmg increases by 20%
4pc: Elemental skill dmg increases by 20%, and increases by a further 20% when off-field, this effect is removed after 2s of taking the field

Character kit, numbers can be changed, so have fun reading for now.
Lyney character kit, pyro charged attack bow.
Second level of charged attack grants a stack (up to 5), summons a cat (taunt) and costs his health (only down to 60% of his total health).
E skill will consume all stacks to heal himself and do AOE damage.
E burst is kinda similar to Fischl burst? Transforming himself into a cat(?) and dealing damage to nearby enemy, can be canceled early by pressing E skill.
Lyney normal attack.png Lyney E skill.png Lyney E burst.png

Lyney passive.png Lyney constellation.png

Lynette character kit, anemo sword (off field?) unit.
E skill function wording is confusing, sorry I'm skipping summary.
E burst gives a box cat taunts and damages with infuse-able elements.
Lynette E skill.png Lynette E burst.png

Lynette passive.png Lynette constellation.png

Freminet, seems to be on field dps with physical and cryo damage scaling on E skill.
E skill functions like a combo by pressing normal attacks only, E skill only or mix between the two, up to 4 times.
E burst grants a mode to have a buffed up E skill, more damage and less CD.
Freminet E skill .png Freminet E burst.png

Freminet passive.png Freminet constellation.png
Edit: wordings. Feel free to correct me on character kit if I'm wrong on summary.

Edit 2: Hydro traveler kit, seems like Fontaine is gonna rely on gimmick of losing/draining health and regen health back.
