I will say it's kinda hilarious that the CN fanbase are the ones genuinely raging over the 2.1 updates being lackluster, rushed, and having a hyped Villainous Archon be but a sad waifu that was totally tricked into all this. Even moreso than the Waifuist side of the Global Fanbase that just wants to put their head on Raiden Waifu's Void Cleavage because "she did nothing wrong uwu"

So, I've got some related news. It seems Mihoyo started a crackdown on the leaking. Few days ago they've recieved access to the bilibili data of accounts that posted leaks, now they are trying to whack honeyhunterworld.com, which has a database on everything genshin, including leaks. They didn't even contacted the guy who runs it, and went straight to his provider.

Further updates:

Several of the major content leakers for beta versions have retired. And by several, I mean almost every single major leaker is gone. The only 'big' names remaining are dimbreath and UBatcha, and UBatcha has announced a break until 2.3. Not only have the leakers gone, but one of the de-facto discord servers Wangsheng Funeral Parlor has also decided to stop publicizing leaks. This is suspected to be tied to the bilibili lawsuit from Mihoyo.

Some of these leakers like Terry Chan have become inactive earlier, but this is a massive, unprecedented exodus of leakers. Confidential sources are also tightening up, meaning that almost overnight the entire leaking community has dried up like a well. Discords, subreddits and forums are in absolute shambles right now.

That'd make a lot of sense, actually. I can imagine MHY would want to keep as tight a lid as possible while doing Dendro balancing and deciding on the debut units for the element. Leakers are already a hivemind who only know how to call something broken or trash, I can't imagine the sway it'd have in the public perception of Sumeru/Chasm content if it was leaked before it was done. Kokomi got fixed and people still call her hot garbage, Dendro would never recover.

The Genshin leak community has also sort of gone a bit far IMO. It's one thing to leak banners/mechanics, but people are dumping the entire story/plot before updates and it makes it goddamn impossible to enjoy the game if you're even the slightest bit online. Had to speedrun Inazuma because everywhere I turned there were more and more spoilers weeks before the update even came out, and speedrunning was the only way to experience it without having the entire thing ruined. People just cannot be trusted to help themselves.

wangsheng funeral parlor and the whole comradery of leakers in there are all cowardly faggots, honestly. not to powerlevel too much but i've lurked in that server for a long time and let's say i had a tie-in with a former mod from there. the admins are typical discord moderators in the sense that they have some skeletons in their closets they don't want people to see, very obviously from the way i've seen them moderate. i wish i still had chat logs but i don't feel like scrounging up messages in a 100k+ member server. maybe if i'm bored enough i'll dig up some old dirt.

as for the leakers, they're gullible af, resulting in an eternal slapfight between themselves over dumb shit like who gets to monetize their leaks first. a lot of the leakers just straight-up give false info as "crumbs". some of them rely on shit from chinese beta players because you know for a fact they're all banned from playing due to breaking the nda lol.

tbh because of this shit i'm honestly gonna try for the beta myself, this kind of dripfeeding mentality is what pisses me off about both the company and the leakers. ffs i just wanna know what character banners we're gonna get each update so i can decide to save or not, nothing more or less

Apparently the Webmaster is reacting to all this... by migrating data and removing watermarks to at least dodge some of the leak crackdowns... and added a very trollish disclaimer at the bottom of the page.

Mihoyo needs to take a hint at this point and put out a damn roadmap. It's obvious the players want at least some idea of what's coming up in the future and their trailers usually do a good job of selling the new update, leaks or no leaks. If they want to profit of FOMO so bad, it shouldn't be a surprise that it's going to cultivate a culture heavily focused on optimal saving and a demand for information.
