It’s literally just a guy and his business model. There’s not some secret story or some big turning point. He just knows an angle he can get people to pay for. He just has to stay on top of the WWE bad talking points and he gets $15 a month from thousands of idiots. He’s bought a house off it, raised kids off it, traveled to Japan off it. Now he’s paying for divorce with it which might be why it’s louder then normal divorce ain’t always cheap but at its core a guy found a business model and likes the money.

Another piece of news, WWE might finally try and go into China, this was only a matter of time. For those unaware AEW had a deal with a Chinese wrestling company for a moment a company called OWE it was a company full on funded by the Chinese government and the government made them present wrestling as a stage show or play, they had to make an announcement prior to the show telling everyone it was fake and at the end they would all come out and take a bow. The most notable thing to ever happen was AEW sending SCU over there, the students gave SCU a kung fu demonstration that got posted on YouTube and then SCU had a match. A lot of it was shoot ex monks who could do spots and the government pulled funding rather quickly. All of this is to say WWE will have literally zero competition in China and if the government is still interested in Pro Wrestling it could become a new Saudi Arabia type deal.

They probably told him to fuck off at some point or another or completely ignored him. WWF/E has never needed Meltzer or his press, positive or negative. He's probably just bitter and spiteful. And the fact that they seem to enjoy fucking with the retards who "leak" shit and almost always get it wrong leaving them with egg on their face lookin stupid. That's my headcanon at least.

Ever since he was on the Donahue show about steroids with Vince I'd assume he's been "Persona non grata".

When you really think about it WWE and Meltzer have no real reason to be allies. Dave's rise in popularity was because he was critical of the of the WWF cartoon style of the 80s and early 90s. Dave doesn't seem to understand that what he thinks is the best style of wrestling will never be the mainstream or viable here in America.

This is why he pushes AEW so much and will defend they're successful until the end. Even though ratings and attendance show a decline year after year.

I'm sure it pisses Dave off that WWE is doing everything well from a business standpoint and AEW isn't. Dave is such a biased "journalist " he won't even attend WWE shows when in they're in his own town.

tldr Dave forgets the Wrestling business is just that a business. WWE has been the benchmark for that in America since they overtook WCW. Sure the actual wrestling might not always be good, but the business is making money.

Dave has always, always, always been a workrate nerd and Steamboat v. Flair is basically what spawned the whole snowflake/workrate nonsense that permeates wrestling fans opinions to this day.

On top of this, a lot of the stuff Vince did back in the 80s to companies like JCP and AWA (counter programming, raiding rosters, territorial expansion, etc.) and basically shitting on the NWA soured a lot of fans (Dave included) on WWF, especially with the cartoony campiness Vince was incorporating. Seeing guys like Dusty or Terry Taylor come in and basically be reduced to jokes also likely didn't endear Meltzer to WWF.

As to what is causing him to get prickly recently? Either Tony's checks started clearing again or he just has a hair up his ass over recent moves from WWE to counterprogram AEW.
