Naomi gets a major push, becomes champion and has now vacated the title due to pregnancy. Cornette was right about women, you can't trust them to not completely fuck up your booking by getting pregnant at the worst possible time.

Congrats to Naomi on her pregnancy. I'm not a big fan of hers or anything, but I did like how she stayed in character and wouldn't simply hand the title over, instead relinquishing it on her own. She did claim she'd be back in 9 months, but as we saw with Alexa and Becky, it takes time to recover after birth, so it'll be at least a year and some change.

I'm not sure what the deal was with her title reign anyway. It felt like they just wanted the shocking moment of her cashing in on IYO and Rhea during their match, then couldn't figure it out after that. There wasn't any real story going on with her on Raw. As of now, it hasn't been decided what will be done to find a new champion. Vaquer is supposed to have a match for the title at Clash in Paris, so I'm sure they'll throw something together with there being one more episode of Raw before that PLE.

Honestly her character being batshit crazy has been one of the most entertaining things on Raw the last few months. It sucks that she'll likely never get this spot back. As they have the most stacked women's roster in wrestling.

Bring on the Chilean Queen!

I don't think they want to put the title on Vaquer yet, they have bigger plans for her. I think it's all but certain Vaquer is going to win the Rumble and probably face Rhea for the title at Mania. Giving her a filler reign now doesn't make much sense.

Vince the elder was looking to expand from the major metro arenas and out into the suburbs, so he wanted an "All American" (read: white) Jack Brisco type. Backlund (he wasn't Mr, in those days, lol) fit the bill after a hearty recommendation by Eddie Graham.
not well versed in the period, but from my understanding Vince Sr was concerned that turning Billy Graham babyface was a bad idea because he had long hair and he thought it was a bad influence on children to have a counter-culture Proto-Hogan as face of the company, so he dropped it to a Backlund, who was obviously a more clean cut, 50s American kind of deal, as a guy with Long Hair myself, this wouldn't be a big deal now, but many people, especially back then gave a shit about that, just kind of how it was

yeah, timing was strange, but sometimes accidents happen when it comes to pregnancies, she had a very good past few months, im not really a huge fan but I can appreciate putting in the work when I see it, in terms of the title going forward I think they do some sort of Triple Threat or Fatal Four Way match to determine who gets to face Vaquer for the vacant belt, whatever they do, they have to save Rhea vs Vaquer for Mania, thats just too big of a match to throw away at a B PPV like Clash, at least in my opinion

I can't say I've ever heard this story at all. This shit about Graham turning face didn't start until he suggested it in his book years ago, is Graham's revisionist history in the wake of Stone Cold Steve Austin. Before Graham's book, i'd never previously read, or heard of a scenario where Graham suggested to big Vince that he be turned face. That sounds like something Graham's biggest dickrider, Meltzer, would push as legit.

The fact of the matter is, Vince the elder, wanted a clean cut, white, white meat babyface in the Jack Brisco mold, as he was expanding the WWWF out to the suburbs, where a spic like Morales, and a wop like Sammartino, or a roided up hippie like Graham, would be a harder sell to suburbanite kids. He also wanted someone relatively new, who didn't have any personal demons, could get over with the fans, and most importantly, was not going to throw their weight around about bookings and payoffs like Sammartino did.

Once Backlund was decided upon in 1977, then he chose Graham to keep the title warm while they built Backlund up on WWWF TV. it was merely gravy that Graham was able to get over so well at the Gardens (Madison Square and Boston).

Beyond that, Graham just was not capable enough in the ring to wrestle like a babyface. And despite what Graham and that faggot Meltzer would have you believe, if you were a babyface in the WWWF in those days, you were expected to wrestle like one. Hell, even Brawling Bruno, didn't start unloading on heels until they "made him angry" by cheating.

EDIT: sentence clarification

Agreed. Rhea vs Vaquer is the match for Mania. I think the safest way to go now is to put the belt on back on IYO by beating Vaquer in Paris (I know they've avoided a finish between them twice, but the situation may force their hand). Then have Rhea finally beat IYO for the title in Perth (maybe have Asuka cost IYO so it builds that feud). Long term, it would also be a way to set up a Vaquer vs IYO feud after Mania since IYO can say she has that previous win over the new champion.

And Graham was a proven headcase and drug addict when he decided to leave and go to Memphis.. where he proceeded to wrestle like shit and behave like a mopey retard. Never once thought to prove Vince wrong by going and being a great face in the NWA. Nope, mopey retard time! Blow through your money on blow, mopey retard! Vince was so wrong about me, he says as he snorts a fresh line and tries to get his dick hard for a rat.

Hulk seriously knock the shit off. No one here worships Trump. I like you man but when it comes to Trump you fly off the deep end. I don’t even like Trump so I ignore him and move on with my life.
To be fair, I do have a shrine dedicated to him in my basement. I wouldn't say I worship him, it's more like a living scrapbook that I masturbate to.

NJPW did a terrible job of preparing for Naito and Tanahashi imminent retirements/getting raided for talent by AEW. They put their chips in on EVIL and Sanada as top guys and neither of them really panned out. It looked like they were going to pulled the trigger on Hiromu and it just sort of never happened.

There's some decent guys in the guys that came back from excursion over the past couple of years but the only one i see being a top guy is Yota Tsuji. The pandemic fucked them as well because of how strict Japans restrictions were during it.

The biggest problem is the only Japanese heavyweight they graduated from the dojo between Okada and O-Khan, which was over a decade, is Evil. They put their chips in on Evil and Sanada because they didn't have much choice. Everyone else was either a gaijin who left, broken down, green or Okada who left.

I think Uemura and Oiwa have more potential than Tsuji, and I like Tsuji. If they can hold onto Callum Newman, he's going to be fantastic. Same for Boltin Oleg who they should have put a rocket on his back as a heel. They have a lot of good talent to build around. They just don't seem to know how to push the next generation to the top at once.

She's married to Jimmy Uso, right? The one not doing shit right now while his brother and wife are in main event spots? I bet he knocked her up out of spite to keep her from becoming a bigger name than him (even though she probably already is). Might as well name that kid Fukyu B'ch Uso.

Did Jake Lee get isekai'd? He was supposed to be the guy who could carry the company and disappeared last year.

She's almost 40 and has previously talked about wanting to have a kid after this run, they probably have been trying for a while now so good for them. As far as booking goes, the only person who would benefit from winning against naomi for the belt is jade and I just don't think she has it, so good for naomi, she's going out hot, I personally would prefer that over fizzling out or a quick title change that means nothing.
Anyway, I was watching raw and the vision is alright, they're trying silly goofy shit which is great, can get millennial haha quirky at times but seth riling up bron popped me. Everything has been too serious for a while now, especially in the main event scene and we could all do with a little more variety.

Lee was injured last year and who knows where he is now. Don't believe he was ever supposed to be a top guy for them. He didn't look like one in last year's G1.

Naomi revealed she had an oophorectomy, removal of her right ovary, way back before her debut in WWE. Then she had a myomectomy, the removal of fibroids, in 2020. With this new information, the-soon-to-be parents are likely feeling blessed.

I figured it would be easy work for him going forward given how much Mexico loves their freakshows. Come in, throw people around comically, pick up your check, then leave. No bumps necessary.
There's an old series of movies about a famous mexican wrestler "El Santo" wrestling against creatures like vampires, or aliens.

That guy's supposed to be an alien threatening to kidnap El Santo btw, who stands his ground and claims he'll wrestle until he dies.

What i'm trying to say here is that it's still real to me, dammit

Bron and Bronson getting to show some personality has been a big boost to the group. Bron has really embraced being a Steiner and Bronson having the shoe stealing gimmick with Roman is fun. When they were just standing around while Rollins was cutting a promo, it was pretty boring. The Vision is still a serious heel faction, but throwing in some humor goes a long way toward making them much more tolerable when they're all over the show.
