I'm not sure if it's legit or a work because of the constant replays that showed the moment of impact. When was the last time WWE did this with a real injury?

They did it in the triple threat with Rhea, Zoey Starks, and Kairi, where they continued the match without Starks. That was a worse injury however. I think its legit cause of how Kairi was acting, it didnt seem that she could do anything and they cut reasonably quick after the medics said it was done.

I've been recommended a couple of Youtube videos suggesting that the WBD split may spell doom for AEW in the same way the AOL-Time Warner merger was for WCW. I don't see how, but then again I'm out of the loop of it all. What do you guys think?

It looked even worse in the slow motion replay but if someone like Stevie Richards does an analysis video on this injury I hope they also include a slow motion video of what it looks like when the person doesn't get injured because all that impact force has to go somewhere.

Cornette called AEW getting sued for something like this, though he assumed it'd be a fan, not a crew member. Survey time: Better or worse? I think it's worse they hurt crew, I imagine word gets around with local union guys in a situation like this. It does help Moxley's gimmick, too bad it isn't the 1970's and it doesn't help his character or his matches. I'm sure some idiots will think getting sued is cool. Badass!

I think it's infinitely worse. A crew member isn't a referee, they're not trained to bump, not should they be expected to.

And this could have all been avoided because TONY HAS THE MONEY to afford plants. He could go for broke and fill every empty seat in the stadiums with plants!

I'm happy they're getting sued, and I hope he fleeces the FUCK out of them both.

If there is a God...

To my understanding, the reason it can be potentially disastrous is the WBD is being split into two companie, shit that makes them money, and shit that don't. The idea being the "shit that don't" part gets sold or foreclosed on while the profitable side remains unscathed. If AEW ends up on the unprofitable side, it's fucked.

It's TV deal would be worthless and that's the only thing generating real revenue. Their toy line is on life support if not dead and we just don't know it yet, their game is dead, their ticket sales are abysmal, the ratings only get lower every year, etc. Every independently verifiable metric of business is looking bad and the costs to run the promotion are only going up.

AEW not now, nor ever, has been profitable. The thing keeping the doors open is Shad covering the difference between their operation costs and their TV deal money. But with no TV deal, or at least a worthless one, there's no point in continuing.

Workrate does matter, otherwise guys like WCW's Renegade, Giant Gonzalez, or Tom Magee would be stars.

But it's like the law of diminishing returns. A pure workrate guy like Malenko or Lance Storm isn't going to move the needle because they can't talk or tell a story, just as a 'sports entertainer' (or whatever) can only do so much.

You gotta have both, to some extent, otherwise you're gonna have a low ceiling.

If one believes in multiverses or alternate timelines, there may be at least one where Paul Levesque is unceremoniously given his best wishes in his future endeavors and Lord knows what he would do of his life, having left nothing but a fancy-pants Wrestlecrap-worthy gimmick as his mark in pro wrestling.

Thankfully he made friends (and a wife) in high places, ditched the foppish persona in favor of pure crass badassery, and started swinging a sledgehammer.

By that point he was already friends with Stephanie and Vince, he got that HOG treatment as punishment for the curtain call and got replaced by Stone Cold in the main event.

Well, at least dislocated shoulder is not a career-ending injury (or so I've heard), she'll recover in a couple of months. I hope she will appear in some backstage segments while recovering though, Liv and Dom are way too entertaining.

Either way it would suck without some form of "competition" for WWE.

I'm of the genuine belief that AEW has been a net negative on the wrestling business and the damage it has done may be irreparable. Before AEW started there were 4 non-wwe companies with TV deals, of those 4, only 1 still does. The indys are in the worst shape they've ever been due to Tony's talent hoarding. RoH is effectively dead so that's one less place to work once AEW goes under. AEW showing their ass time and time again has made wrestling a laughing stock in the TV world making it infinitely harder for any other company to get put on the national stage again.

I personally can't wait to dougie on its grave, especially when Tony's faggy NDAs expire and people can start shooting.

AEW might end up in some dime-a-dozen channel with lesser views than their usual if not on YouTube or some lesser-known video hosting site in a worst-case scenario.

That's why I asked about the tax thing. I'm sure AEW and Shads company's are under the same umbrella. Running one businesses at a loss might benefit the one actually making money. But I'm just speculating on that.

Technically, the money Tony is using is his inheritance. Shad told him and his sister he didn't want them to have to wait till he was dead to get it and that he wanted to see them enjoy it while he was alive. Shad does have infinite money essentially, but at any point Shad can cut him off if he decides enough is enough.

I've seen the theory that the reason Tony is the one who legally bought RoH and not as part of AEW is two fold. First to prevent AEW's finances from looking worse than they already were, and secondly as a back up plan if/when AEW goes under. Since Tony himself owns RoH, he can always run it as his own little Indy regardless of the fate of AEW. But the first part is notable since it implies there is a cutoff limit to how bad the finances can get because otherwise why would he be worried about how far in the red the company is?

There are 3 loss conditions for AEW:

1. Tony gets bored or fed up and doesn't wanna keep playing with his wrestling toys.

2. Shad gets fed up funding Tony's vanity project and stops indulging his manchild son's fantasy.

3. They get dumped by WBD and struggle to find a TV deal and go the way of TNA post Spike where they just keep sliding further and further down. But in that case, I think Tony would just call it a day and give up.
