I'm curious which wrestler books are actually worth a read because it seems like every one has a book.
I've heard great things about Gary Hart's book and you can find a pdf online of it pretty easy. A physical copy is pretty damn rare though and can go up to a thousand dollars.

Fun conspiracy, but I don't believe it because that would mean a Hart cheated on his wife. And Canadian Heroes would never do that. Right Bret?
You're right. I forgot how noble the Canucks were as indviduals. Especially the harts would never do anything like that.
Journey Into Darkness is interesting
it's a mashup of the greater Taker/Kane/Bearer lore, the (then-recent) Katie Vick stuff, and other odds and ends
Jesus you just unlocked a memory. I forgot this book existed

If you're into more of essays on wrestling I recommend checking out Steel Chair to the Head. Various scholars share essays on wrestling from different perspectives. Pretty good read.

Well, Mox and his dumb shit made TMZ and ratings are up on both last week and last year so we are going to see more of this nonsense.

I genuinely hope AEW doesn't turn into a worked version of Bumfights but when you have braindead shite like Powerslap and BKFC doing sustainable business then who knows what's going to happen.
Is TMZ even still relevant in 2025?

That's one theory. According to Holly, the spot was supposed to be that Holly was going to reverse it into a drop kick (Holly had a great drop kick). If you watch the clip of it, it's kind of hard to tell. Could be miscommunication. Could be Lesnar making a mistake. Could be Holly sandbagging him. Only two people know for sure and one of them (Holly) denied that was the case.

It looked like Brock just gave up and dropped him as a result of sandbagging to me, but again, it's never been confirmed by Brock.
Saw an old shoot where Bob claimed it was just an honest fuck up. Brock didn't do it on purpose, and Holly didn't sandbag because something to effect of "if Brock can belly to belly big show, how the fuck am I gonna sandbag him?".

Bob Holly was an old school dickhead carny far past the era when that sort of behavior was accepted.

He knew enough not to fuck with any of the established guys in WWE/F but he'd routinely tune up newbies on live TV and was a notorious asshole to the WCW and ECW guys when they started coming over.

However, his problem was that no one backstage had a whole lot of time for him so if Random Jobber #57 or Buff Bagwell or Dreamer or whoever started giving him receipts the attitude was: "oh well, he's had that coming for a while now".

He's one of the more notable pieces of shit in the business and it was all for nothing because he was only ever a midcard good-hand.
From what I can gather, old school locker room mentality was that you have to take up for yourself if someone takes liberties with you, otherwise it doesn't stop. Sometimes you have instances like when Matt Striker was pressed by Benoit and JBL and managed to get their respect (he stood up to take his beating and they interpreted it as him being willing to fight them), or you get an instance like Jacques Rougeau getting even with Bulldog for jumping him by blasting him in the mouth with a roll of quarters. The means in which you get yours doesn't seem to matter to the locker room, just as long as you make it known that you were retaliating and the recipient was aware of it. If Matt Capatteli told Holly to meet him outside the arena and then broke his jaw with a pair of brass knuckles, I get the feeling that the locker room would just shrug their shoulders and be like, "Eh. Guess he got his." I don't think even Holly would probably think nothing of it afterward beyond considering the matter officially settled. Old school carny culture almost feels like it operates under prison rules in that sense.

He makes a valid point. It sure looks like a sandbag but, like he said, Brock can throw Big Show half way across the ring so I am not sure if 230 lb Holly could sandbag him on a powerbomb even if he wanted to

If you watch the footage it looks like Bob didn't meet Brock halfway (he doesn't sit up properly) and it caused him to land really badly. Bob's performance is all over the place during the match too. Fifty second rest hold, decent suplex thing, turnbuckle stuff, botched dropkick and then finally the neck-ruining botched powerbomb. I would believe Bob was gassed and they couldn't recuperate long enough for him to get it together.

Yeah and as retarded as Holly could be, I am not sure I buy him being retarded enough to sandbag at that part of a powerbomb where it would result in him getting dropped on his head

It is pretty amazing that his book is a thousand dollars and that rare. You'd think Hart's family would get more copies published. I've heard good things but haven't read it. Probably has some interesting information given his life in the territory days (surviving that plane crash, being booker for WCCW, JCP, etc)

Mick Foley's first book is good. Same with Jericho's. Their subsequent books suffer from diminishing returns, though.

Bret Hart's book is great. He is very much a mark for himself but does own up to a lot of his own stupid bullshit.

Flair's book is also interesting.

Dynamite Kid also has a book, easy to find online. While he does skip over some of the wildest things about him, you still get to know how erratic he was.

The most interesting ones for me are the japanese bios, the Jumbo Tsuruta bio or the Misawa bio, there are some forums out there translating the important things from these books.

There is also this site that had very detailed bios and info about FMW, it has the entire book translated of Shoichi Arai, written while he was escaping the Yakuza, that one and the Hayabusa bios are very good shit.

I remember when Hogan thought Bam was dead. This helps my theory that all his lies might be some kind of dementia.
