E: Also, I don't know all the ins and outs of the PWI beyond it being a kayfabe rag and that people can pay money to appear on it, but I'm amused that CM Punk didn't appear on it.

He's one guy that the IWC was completely wrong about. He wasn't being "held down" by WWE, he's just an upper-midcarder at best.

No one has ever left an AEW or WWE event saying their favourite match of the night was Miro/Rusev v. whoever.

I don't disagree, but for a little while there he was fairly cool with the "God's Favorite Champion" stuff when he had the TNT title. After that he was always either injured or stayed at home not wanting to do jobs.

Rusev got exactly one thing out of that Mania - he and Lana fucked on the Tank.

Cena got one of the better of his later runs with the US Title, so he’s still the real winner regardless - the IWC being ignored is always one of the better things any wrestling company should do.
 
My contention with AEW matches is that I dislike when wrestlers kick out of being thrown into a volcano at some small house show.

WWE has been guilty of this for years of Undertaker's WM streak matches, but those were at WrestleMania and the rules can be bent a little when there's stakes (like a streak that has existed for years or a legacy championship) and it's literally the biggest pro wrestling show in the world.

The anniversary of Ric Flair winning his first NWA world title was recent and that match ended with him landing on top of Dusty after Rhodes dropped him. Dusty's knees buckled because of the Figure 4 and I miss those sort of finishes.

Apparently wwe is bringing back Saturday night's main event in a similar position it used to be back in the day as effectively a quarterly free "mini" ppv
