I can't be the only one who is sick of the "I am the table" gag, in addition to very poorly trying to make song lyrics with wrestling promos.
Promo Joey does the same shit and it's equally as bad in execution.
well i still like it.

Alright bros, I'm going to see Raw tonight in Dayton. I've been hyped as fuck since I got tickets and I'm ready to mark out.

I went to the Raw show in Boston right before MITB and it was good ol' fashioned carny fun. The first live taping I've ever been to as far as WWE goes; I had only ever been to house shows as a kid back in like the late 90's/early 00's. I will say though that the 'tism was off the charts, I couldn't believe it. Hopefully you get to see Jey and/or the Wyatt Sicks, those 2 alone were worth the price of admission. Have fun dude.

Have a great time! Bring a very tall sign so as to ruin the night for as many people behind you as possible.

The only reason I have an interest in wrestling nowadays is because listening to Undertaker and Maven Huffman talk about the industry is utterly fascinating to me.

I've just heard this for the first time. I recommend you to hear it at least once.

I've fucking LOST IT when Jim said that he saw Johnny Ace's face on Santino and then proceeded to slap him. LMAOOO Cornette smelled blood that day.

This WWE angle with Joe Hendry is really good.

One of the commentators on tonights NXT show made a remark about how Joe Hendry was surely watching a developing situation with the NXT title and a split-second later Hendrys music hit and he made his way to the ring because if you say his name then he appears.

A midcard guy from Jeff Jarrets carny-as-fuck Total Nonstop Action wrestling is one of the biggest stars in WWE at the moment.

Cornette is a brilliant storyteller and a savant when it comes to pro wrestling. It really is a shame he does the whole swinging thing and his politics are unbearable for anyone remotely close to center. I don't find it difficult to listen to him when wrestling is the topic. I'd argue the minute tales of his day to day life are a good listen as well. In a lot of cases, he end up shooting promos on average, unassuming people that probably don't even know what a John Cena even is.

Wow, what an experience. If you've never gone to a wrestling show (TV, PPV, or house) please go. It had been 19 years since I had seen a live show and I totally forgot how great it is to be in the arena seeing some good ol' fashioned rasslin. With that said, I've got some thoughts about Raw last night as I catch up to last Friday's Smackdown.

We get things kicked off with the return of Rhea Ripley. Great pop for Mami last night. Liv Morgan is doing some great work as spoiler between Rhea and Dom. I'm enjoying how this story is panning out and can't wait for the match at Summerslam. Backstage segments had a great romcom feel to them and I got a kick out of Priest having a seemingly hard time not breaking character. Obviously this is taking a lot of cues from the Geurrero/Chyna pairing in 2000. But something gives me the feeling that once Rhea has that belt around her waist...Dom may not want to be around. Or could he end up helping Liv?

Sheamus vs Bronson Reed: I gotta be honest, I wasn't a fan of this match but I could dig it for what it was. Sheamus getting the win was expected, as was the appearance of Pete Dunne. I was fully expecting Pete to turn face, but looking back, I'm glad it didn't happen and that Pete is a solid heel. Could we see these two in a program? I hope so.

Gunther vignette is based as usual. My Ring Fuhrer will be dominant for 1,000 years.

Sonya DeVille vs Zelina Vega: Terrible, even by squash match terms. One minute and six seconds I'll never get back.

Then we get Damien Priest and Gunther in the ring together for a joint promo before their clash in Cleveland. Priest has definitely elevated himself in my eyes. His mic skills keep getting better, his ring presence is commanding, and he just has the gritty look I want to see in a champion. Gunther was fucking VICIOUS with his lines and boy did Priest sell 'em perfectly. You could damn near cut the tension with a knife at the Nutter Center. Speaking of Priest, I'm surprised more people aren't talking about how his improved skills aren't translating to becoming a face. He's obviously extremely over as a heel in a heel stable, but I think he could get over easily as a solo attraction.

Braun Strowman vs Priest: Loved it. Two big men going at it doing big man moves. Loved the way these two worked off each other and the crowd was heavily invested. Seeing the South of Heaven chokeslam applied to Strowman was fucking electrifying and I marked HARD for Priest at the bell.

Baszler/Stark vs Chance/Carter: Again, another yawn inducing snorefest. I couldn't bring myself to really pay too much attention. The only interesting thing about this match was I got to hear a 10 year old girl yell "BREAK HER NECK" at Baszler.

Adam Pearce and Drew McIntyre then come to the ring to discuss the situation at hand. Both parties seem to let bygones be bygones, except that Drew must apologize to the bum ass refs that have been part of the screwjob against him. Pushing, shoving, and some choice words are exchanged. Drew ended up looking even more resolved to get his restitution against Punk. But wait, here comes Rollins for a little dust up and boy was he fired up to get a piece of McIntyre. This is easily the best storyline going on Raw right now and I can't wait to see how this continues to unfold. I also like that Adam has been much more upfront and looking ready to brawl. I'd love to see him get in a match in WWE, and I think McIntyre would be a great partner for him to work with.

Jey Uso vs Dominik: We yeeted and it felt so damn good. I genuinely felt my ears come close to popping when Jey's music hit. I was immediately taken back to when I first heard Steve Austin's music at my first WWF house show in 2001. The amount that Jey is over is beyond astronomical. He has the crowd groveling on their hands and knees just for the privilege to yell yeet. Man or woman, young or old, there was not a single person in that arena that wasn't dancing and yeeting. Despite this, I feel that Jey still has an extremely limited move set. His character work is good, his mic skills are on point, but when you get him in the ring...I just don't feel that this incarnation of Jey Uso is as formidable as heel Bloodline Jey Uso.

Chad Gable and the Wyatt Sicks: Well, well, well, yet another Wyatt segment. After an earlier vignette with Erick Rowan, Chad Gable seems to have finally solved the greatest mystery in WWE. Did he really find out who Mr. America really was? No, but he figured out that Uncle Howdy is actually Bo Dallas! The beatdown ensues as the Creed brothers join Gable. This summons the rest of the Wyatt family, who are shrouded in near total darkness. Say what you want about paranormal or supernatural gimmicks, but this works. And if you have a chance to see a show where the Wyatts appear, you will be thoroughly creeped out by the appearance. Gable and the Creeds run away as Bo is rescued.

And finally, our main event is an Intercontinental Title match between Sami Zayn and Ilja Dragunov. Dragunov is so much larger in person than what you see on TV. The guy is toned for his size and boy howdy does this man work. That was what a wrestling match should look like, as both talents bring out the very best in each other and push themselves to the edge. And right when we're at the apex, here comes Bron Breakker to end the match. Again, you just HAVE to see this guy to get a true representation of his size and power. TV only goes so far to show how fucking fast and huge Breakker is. Having seen his dad and uncle wrestle many times, Bron is being set up perfectly to continue the Steiner tradition of fucking shit up. The speed Bron has running the ropes was scary. I could have sworn he broke Ilja in half at ring side and the power of his spear on Zayn was nothing short of devastating.

Overall, the wife and I had a ton of fun. This was my wife's first experience at a wrestling show and she is definitely converted. I'll probably go back and watch the recorded broadcast eventually, but that was a very well booked show. WWE has really upped their game and it is clearly entering a new era of cultural relevance. I can't wait to see where Hunter takes this company. I've already resolved to get tickets for the Rumble when it comes to Indianapolis and I'm even more excited than ever.

I'm a Gunther mark now
