The whole state of Okada right now is so fucking sad.

I had him as the best of the best in 2018. I'm sorry that I had to say this in this thread considering the feeling about them but I don't care, but the two matches he had with Omega I consider it to be the best two matches in modern wrestling, and probably the best in the history of New Japan Pro Wrestling. I was so naive back then, thinking that Okada would do amazing in America if he ever gets a job there.

Well, here it is, Okada is in America, and he's the fucking curtain jerker of the most insipid and braindead version of the nWo I've ever seen. And is occuring just as I thought it was gonna go. The Bucks would get to him like cancer and drain the stock and popularity out of him and he would get to midcard staus probably until the guy retires. I don't think he's ever going to win the world title now, and even if he does, it would feel pretty artificial and rushed, considering TK's booking.

This is a guy who main evented a couple of times in a stacked Tokyo Dome. This is a sad state of affairs for him. I just hope now that he gets the better deal out of this and could retire peacefully.

Eh, AEW can just flip the switch on him at any time and make him champion and people would buy it.

The current angle he is doing is keeping him in cold storage because they have other shit going on at the top of the card and Omega isn't around.

Same thing with Jay White.

I wouldn't be so sure about that.

I think Jay White is a lost cause at this point, considering the times we've seen that everytime he appears on TV the ratings have a massive drop, I don't think they will have him as a priority to push in the future. That ship sailed a long time ago, and if they did considered him at any point, he would've gained the title already.

The thing is, this was just the wrong introduction to him. Do you remember how one of the main criticisms against AEW was that you couldn't guess half of the shit that happens in the product if you didn't watch Being The Elite? This is one of those cases, consider the fact that you're a casual viewer and not someone who saw the webseries. Why is this guy suddenly joining to them? Did this guy have a reason? What is their history?

I don't know if this is my bias blurring my insight a little, but I don't think Okada needs The Elite to gain himself some popularity. They could've mentioned that the guy was a world champion in Japan and people probably would be behind him because of this "Japanese legend" aura he has. Have him win some matches against important people and he would probably win a main event spot in no time. My point is, he doesn't need those fucking idiots on his side to build something, especially when these guys are ratings poison.

that's because according to AEW fans anyone can be world champion, being satisfied with your favorite being a midcarder is unacceptable to Smarks, look no further then the Daniel Bryan 2014 situation, this was before AEW existed as a containment fed so they infested WWE.

After years of watching Pro Wrestling and after spending years absorbing the culture I can proudly say that...... Fuck this dumb Carny shit! I want those years wasted back on this pseudo-Hollywood Faggotry! Fuck this industry and I want it and all those who worship it died! Fuck these druggie ass wannabe actors pretending to be men. Fuck these BPD whores. From Playboy to OnlyFans so not much has fucking changed! Fuck these corporate companies who killed pro wrestling in the first place! Thanks, Vince, for Black Saturday you cocksucker! Thanks for killing the business. Fuck the fanbase! Full of Moral fags like Jim Cornette, retards like Vince Russo, or anyone in that parasite class known as "Wrestling Journalists" aka corporate dick rider! I hope this retarded Carny industry supported by man children leftists and run by corporate degenerates get thrown into the cultural and literal dumpster it belongs in!

I admittedly really dislike Sami and have never seen him as any sort of serious wrestler.
"We have Bryan Danielson at home"

Sami's ok. It really is a size issue for me when it comes to him. I see people like him, Dominick, JD, etc and just lament that people like Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit were basically killed by the business because they were "too small". Now we have twinks that any Joe Shmoe working a blue collar job could take in a fight doing stunts. AEW's even worse in this regard.

Bron should've won. I don't see Sami as being it.
I like Sami but I agree, Bron is one of the future top guys in the company and should get a run with the IC before going for a world title, Sami really has nothing to gain from a long IC title run at this point.

Not all Small Guys suck as you said, Bret and Eddie were credible champions because of how they were presented, I kind of view guys like Sami and KO in the same regard but what pisses me off the most is the insistence that wrestling should be all flippy manlet shit with no real story, smaller guys I think to a certain extent unfairly get a bad rap because that portion of their fanbases

Looking at the vid the screenshot I posted is from it looks like she really was at at least one event for it. Whether or not she was really fired and then replaced for being black idk. Given her first instinct was to go make a shitty passive aggressive tiktok claiming muh racism, I'm inclined to think if she was fired it was probably for being an insufferable cunt.

lol oh yeah I remember seeing an ad for that on Instagram a month or so ago.

Yeah, she was probably fired for being a cunt not for being black, although I could see why she'd make the mistake these days.

I also have to wonder how much control the Hulkster would have over this? It feels like something he just licensed his name/likeness too and will do a few ads for but not really oversee or anything...

It’s the Hulkster - him not having control over anything with his likeness would be really out of character for him.

And honestly I’m not sure if him carnying a Beer Company for that level of control is more or less impressive than his Wrestling Control…

How has NXT been? I haven't really had a chance to watch it for a hot minute but now that I have my desktop back I am going in blind. Has Shawn been able to build up anyone like Bron?

NXT has been a snorefest as of late (the Joe Hendry bit was their last highlight). Watching their PPV as I write this and the first match is by far the worst match I've ever seen on NXT that didn't involve women. Wes Lee looked rough out there.

The main event was much better but even then it was not really that great.

At this point you’d need to start from scratch for a wrestling promotion. Not just in terms of the company itself but the workers involved. The small guy indie style has been in vogue since 2001 at least and hit mainstream in the 2010s. The only company that tried to go back to an old school style is NWA to universal laughter and disgust

But how would you do it? Like what kind of wrestling would genuienly draw a crowd on the level of the really mainstream monday night wars?

Dagestani wrestle humping ala current MMA to appeal to the "its fake fighting!" crowd? I think that's already pushing viewers away from current MMA.

Doing away with live crowds and shooting it like a martial arts tv show where every action scene happens to take place in a square shaped arena? But then why watch that over something like Warrior?

Appealing to the fetish crowd? I guess considering the popularity of Rhea and Jade you could make MMW(Muscle Mommy Wrestling) or something? But I'd wager there's some fetish porn studio for that. If there isn't one there should be one.

I admit I'm not the most creative guy but I can't think how you'd do it.

Im not a booker so i only know some basics.

You can’t be too old school inspired. NWA did this and while it was a novelty for a bit it has its limits. The pandemic hurt a lot and Tyrus being a fat bastard didn’t help at all.

You need to have a clear message, target demo and agenda. CYN was a laughingstock because EC3 was unfocused, trying to be so many things at once and it flopped hard.

You can’t have too many old guard at the top either in terms of talent or backstage. It’s tempting to have people who ran shows in the past do the heavy lifting but don’t. So many companies went under because they trusted and paid stupid money to guys like Jimmy Hart, Hulk Hogan and friends. See TNA circa 2010 XWF even WWE is guilty of this sometimes

You can’t use most indie guys under their current gimmicks. Otherwise you’re just another super indie or local promotion and while you can function like that it won’t help you break out. Your aiming for WWF not PWG.

You need someone willing to throw money at you. Not just cash but a TV/streaming deal for exposure.

This is all just to get started not counting any major creative directions. Usually wrestling adapts to current trends but the current trends are political and short form in nature which wrestling always struggles with
