Even WBD are in full on cope mode about the ratings.

They blamed a bad run-in (Black Panther), Juneteenth and good weather for the lack of viewers. People aren't watching because nothing really matters for this couple of months in AEW every year because none of the people coming through the Forbidden Door are going to win any AEW belts but it still becomes the main driver of the show for a while. AEW signing all of the top talent from NJPW hurts the concept a lot as well.

It's funny, because you can basically formulate an excuse in any which way to support your argument. All that really matters is having something interesting and compelling.

People will watch if the nuclear apocalypse was happening right outside their front door if it's interesting enough.

Personally, i like seeing NJPW and CMLL guys in AEW but i can understand your average US wrestling fan not giving a solitary shit about them showing up.

There's nothing wrong with that shit, but good god, at least give people a reason to care about these guys beyond 'THEY HAVE BANGERZ.'

That's the killing thing about AEW. Their roster is stacked with remarkable talent and they ship in the best from other promotions to have great matches but they have nothing behind it to make people care.

The fact that Ospreay got signed and every match he has had since is a legit MOTY candidate but it can't move the ratings needle speaks volumes about how AEW mis-handles things.

if the feud doesnt end with the three of them sticking dildos requiem for a dream style the entire toni, maria, big tit jap angle has been a colossal waste of fucking time. both cmll ladies wrestle circles around aew roster

The best way to run out the angle is to have Mina win the belt at FD due to Maria siding with her over Toni. Spin off the Toni and Maria angle for a few months and have Mina get a few handy cocky wins before she has to defend against a mystery opponent at Wembley who turns out to be a returning Jamie Hayter who wins the belt handily.

Sets it up for Toni and Maria to try to win the belt back afterwards and builds Jamie up if she beats both of them.

Does TK just pay in coke or can i get actual money for booking his company better than he ever would?

Yeah it reminds me of some sort of 'shock' debut that I think might've been Tito Ortiz showing up in TNA where he's just standing there, nodding, and no one is really explaining WHY him being there is a big deal.

It might've been something else I'm misremembering. But like, if the viewer has no context, no one is going to give a shit.

At this point I don't even know what the fuck is happening on AEW anymore, I barely watch anything related to it now. The Young Bucks showing the CM Punk / Jungle Boy footage was really the final straw for me and their dumbass product, it killed my interest on watching it. There's no good reason to start watching now.

Also, I guess I'm really adding Will Ospreay to my list of people I really liked in the indies but really starting to hate for his run in AEW, that Rolex "own" is the trademark of a fucking douchebag. Dude is a massive mark of himself.
So far, showing that CM Punk footage was AEW's "what were these idiots thinking" blunder of 2024 but I think they might top it with something worse. That scene turned me off complete from their product and with a literal special child running the company & having worse ratings than before, AEW's getting a slow death.

At least they’ve now defined who the face and heel are in this feud. I kinda like the ambiguity where both are angling themselves as tweeners.
I mean I wouldn't necessarily call this very heelish as much as effectively just deserts for screwing drew in his hometown for effectively no good reason depending on how you view it it is a pretty tweener vs tweener feud

Is it me or did he lose a LOT of weight? Jacob Fatu was the one Samoan I was excited to see come in and besides the absurdity of him blowing off the Kevin Owens superkick, that was a strong debut.

I'm getting tired of seeing so many Samoans jump ship to WWE. But I'm willing to make an exception to Jacob Fatu, the dude is legitimately awesome in my book, I encourage some of you to watch some of his work in the indies, the guy is fantastic for a man of his size.

Also, WOW, the guy lost a shit ton of weight! He looks very skinny! Good for him.
