A lot of "classic" gimmick stipulations kinda suck in terms of building a suspenseful match finish. I might be in the minority, but the Last Man Standing stipulation blows unless it's both of them down for the final count and only one of them stands up. Besides that, what are you doing? A high spot and then you sit around while the Count from Sesame Street counts to ten?

Then there's the Texas Death Match stipulation variant where you have to score a pinfall, and then a LMS style ten count. Get out of here with that nonsense. Cool name for a match stipulation but I've never seen it pulled off.
First Blood is always a guarantee shit hype.
Congrats you've promised there is literally only blood at the very last moment of the match.

The only good first blood match was that random Tyson Tomko vs. Samoa Joe first blood match on a TNA Impact show in either '07 or '08. Even then, that was more down to the clever finish that I've never seen replicated.

A few minutes in, Tomko swung at Samoa Joe with a chair and Joe blocked it with his arms. Not long after, Joe locks in the Coquina Clutch on Tomko, Tomko taps like crazy, and the ref calls for the bell. It seems like they were ending the match due to submission which would be a WCW 2000-tier ending, but the ref points out that when Joe blocked the chair shot he started bleeding from his arm, making Tomko the winner.

It was helped by being a mid-show match and not a real showcase match. For a stipulation that's been done time and time again, it's a pretty bad sign that the only good ending was from Russo-era TNA.

Why could they never just book a FUCKING MATCH!?

It was always with some fucking stupid twist. I know the old farts showing up is often blamed as the reason TNA lost its only bit hot run potential, but that stupid Russo booking. Wasn't just Russo mind, he takes the lion's shares because of who he is, but Dutch was not much better at times, whole lot of them fucking around with twists.

Still, sitting down with my cousin after work, sipping bears and watching Burn Notice and TNA. Good times.

What could AEW do to make Dynamite ratings go back up?

A really big name or a long term company threatening story line aka NWO that non super marks can get invested in.

The only big name free agent i can even think of that would move the needle is maybe Brock coming in and murdering the entire roster.

Long term story could be capitalizing on the who killed wcw doc by bringing in Russo and or Bischoff to try to oust Tony for control of the company. Guys stuck in catering vs those who share white claws and coke with tony.

I want Tony and Russo argue about how to make a female wrestler in the match show her tatas while Bischoff tries to make NWO 3.0 from the wrestlers and Hogan.

The company threatening stable is exactly what the Elite is doing, with the bonus that they are ACTUALLY killing the company for a shoot. :story:

But if you want a real answer, I can give you a freebie, one that I'm sure I mentioned before, but RIGHT NOW could be a turning point for AEW.

Bring back Planet Jarrett. No, this isn't an excuse to post "A Wild Slapnut Appears", as funny as I still find that meme.

Give Jarrett the win! This is the third time Tony's exploiting Owen Hart's memory, and neither of the fucking LOSERS that won it accomplished jack shit with it!

Give it to Jarrett, and let him run as the top heel in Collision, they can keep the Elite Fingerbang Gangbang going on Dynamite and beat that horse until it's glue, IDGAF.

But make Collision the Planet Jarrett show. Let Slapnuts and Jay Lethal shine as the top heels there for a while.

It still makes me laugh how Tony Khan called WWE the "Harvey Weinstein" of pro wrestling and then you have Jay Lethal on a weekly program with Jeff Jarrett.

Brock would never be allowed in AEW period.

NO ONE would want to work with him because Brock never loses unless it's forced upon him (Cody, Roman) and more to the point, even ignoring the piss fetish shit and him being implicated in Vince's current scandals, Brock's got the whole homophobia shit hanging over his head from his infamous SI interview he did that is just waiting to crash down onto him like a sword of Damocles.

You think the Bucks were cunts before, wait until they have to deal with Brock. The only upside is that Brock will probably legit murder the Bucks, Hangman, Perry, and Omega if they start shit with him.

Their only real option would be for Discovery to force Tony to bring Punk back, force Tony to fire the Bucks, Perry, and Hangman, and basically force Tony into a position of utter castration where Punk is handed the company to do whatever the fuck he wants with it as far as being made head booker and being allowed to fire people as well, to cleanse the company and recreate it in his own image. Nothing short of Punk returning to AEW in triumph will bring people back and stop the anal bleeding and nothing short of Tony being stripped of his company and Punk given what he probably wants most of all at this point in his career, a company to control 100%, would make him leave WWE at this point.

It's still baffling that they somehow signed CM Punk only to throw him away for PWG upper-card talent.

It'd be like if ECW somehow signed Lex Luger in 1999 and then threw him away for Danny Doring & Roadkill.

Funny if true
Saturday’s AEW Collision will include Kazuchika Okada versus Ultimo Guerrero. The match was said not to go well. AEW promoted Ultimo Guerrero under his masked identity. Ultimo Guerrero has not been a masked wrestler in 10 years come this September, though he was masked when AEW CEO Tony Khan was watching CMLL. Khan’s interview style is like lucha libre, where he repeats not moves but full sequences, and so I think I’ve heard/read some of the same greatest bits many many times. His go to story about CMLL is talking about watching Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Bucanero, Tarzan Boy and many others in the early 2000s – about the same time I started doing the same – and explaining that fandom to the various Mexican wrestlers who come to CMLL. As he has so warm memories of that time, that was my guess as why AEW asked Ultimo Guerrero to wrestle masked. Another theory is someone in AEW just grabbed the wrong Ultimo Guerrero graphic and, once he was shown as a masked man on Dynamite, AEW felt like they had to present him that way.

FantasticaMania viewers know Ultimo Guerrero wrestling masked is usually not an issue – as best I know – Ultimo Guerrero was not aware he was going to be asked to wrestle masked and did not bring one with him. That led to a mad scramble to find a mask or mask up a mask, and Ultimo Guerrero ended up wearing a mask that wasn’t really suitable and would not stay on his head. It appeared Guerrero tried to cut out a lot of spots that would’ve risked his mask coming off, which resulted in a lower quality match – and the mask still came off multiple times during the match. The match was not what Guerrero and Okada are capable of doing, and even editing around the mask issues probably won’t work. I hope UG gets another chance to show what he can do.
Which is more offensive: Cokehead forcing a Mexican wrestler to wear a mask or Vince having Mexicans come out on riding mowers?

I know kayfabe is different now, but they didn’t make any real effects of the Wyatt Sicks happen on Smackdown other than some mentions.
Most of the production crew and security on Raw are fucking dead (that guy with all the blood behind his head in the gorilla pit isn’t going to walk it off) and Gable looks like he got shot in the head (but it was already confirmed he’s not dead, so it was probably a hammer blow).

I read the Wyatt Sicks coming back is going to ripple across the whole WWE universe, but so far nothing.
It’s not like they need a ten bell salute for everyone who got assaulted/murdered lol, that’s going too far, but no somber moments or anything.

It would be great to see them bust into NXT somehow not just Smackdown.
Or they might stay on Raw, either way I’m interested to see how this develops.

And Drew looked like a beast carrying the bloodied and unconscious Punk all the way out to the arena, then attacking the stretcher.
More of that please.
