Also stay away from that creepy fortune telling gypsy. She's been kidnapping men and burning their faces as part of some insane scheme to created mixed up zombies. Also, brainwashing Ray Dennis Deckler so he can fuck her sister Carmelita as part of some strange messed up female cuckolding thing with she has going on for some strange reason I can't fathom.
 
That AEW tournament shit is exactly the problem they have. They don't have characters and actual storytelling, just spamming moves won't create compelling entertainment and it certainly won't bring in more people. You need good character work, interesting storylines and angles, otherwise if people want to see fights they'll just tune into MMA or boxing. Wrestling is about character work, the matches are just the medium you tell your story through.

Since when did a tournament need a storyline to start? You build them up as you progress. The biggest issue is that they don't have enough people to care about such a tournament. You could literally just do the whole thing at a ppv, that's how few people there are.

Big E is likely to never wrestle again. His neck is too fucked up. That "rumor" is just something you made up in another drug induced fever dream.

He's French Canadian. While Montreal tends to be a decent place, he was born and raised outside of the city so he's more like a typical Quebecer.

The main reason why he didn't go with WWE because then he'd have to live in the US and leave his woman. He didn't want to do that. Working with AEW pays better and gives him everything he wanted without any sacrifices. While sweet, I doubt he would do this if they weren't engaged secretly.


That being said, Dante was seen at the last AEW show backstage so it's good to know he's healing well. Must be weird though seeing your ex with another man after she left you the moment you got a major injury that would get you off television for nearly a year. least she's still being used as the fall girl to protect better wrestlers. Though sadly she's not on the same level as Red Velvet, which is where she should be thrown back to. She's no Julia Hart no matter how much she tries.

Also, can't say I'm a fan of the new Young Bucks faction that's coming up. Killing the Business indeed.

Over on the WWE side of things. Normally I'm not a fan of Survivor Series, but they have a few interesting matches. I hope they don't make Dragon Lee take the pin for Escobar and have it a DQ, Dragon Lee's been doing well. Miz vs Walter sounds interesting even though I've never been a fan of a guy who can only chop people. Maybe the weight loss will allow him to do more in the ring and the Miz can drag him through a good match. Not a fan of either Survivor match. Rhea's is rather meh, but I guess none of the female stars want to wrestle her.

it also works a lot better when you have more established interpersonal dynamics
like look at Kinnikuman, that's almost nothing but tournaments but they get drama from who's tagging with who and stuff
obviously it's easier to raise the stakes when you can steal people's arms and other crazy shit, but still, the _theory_ of tournaments can be a great framework to prop up a bunch of drama on, even if there's no reason to expect AEW to do it

I missed Smack last night so I didn't even realize we were getting Dragon Lee instead of Carlito against Escobar. Hell of an improvement!
Have you not seen a Gunther match? The man is quite easily the best active wrestler today. And his program with Miz is good stuff so I'm excited for that one. Feels like Rhea has been in quite a bit of filler feuds since winning the title, despite being one of the most prominent faces on the show every week. I feel like they're just killing time until she faces Becky some time next year.
Even if Punk doesn't appear, which I still think he will, it should be a good show.

Yeah, at best they have Danielson and Andrade (who still wants to leave because he can't get on one of the four PPV's they have every year.) and Cassidy and Moxley to fuel that. Everyone else is just there to feed to other people. You also have Swerve doing his own thing which is fine. He wont win the tournament though but I hope he get's pretty close to help his own storyline out. Best we can hope for is that it can start some new feuds after Worlds End.

Carlito did a in-ring promo, Escobar showed up, they scuffled and then backstage Escobar attacked Carlito "injuring" him. Aldis was about to cancel the match but Dragon Lee showed up, begged to replace Carlito and got his wish granted.

i would rather punk just stay gone just to spite the people on twitter who wont shut up about him coming back. but at the same time punk returning to wwe will not end well. they have nothing for him to do that would not destroy everyone elses storylines.

does cody have to wait another year to finish his story so that punk can get his mania main event against roman reigns which he will lose or get injured in or both? or will punk just sperg out backstage because somebody says something bad about troons or looks at him the wrong way?

either way punk coming back to wwe is a waste of time dude should just stay gone till he gets a hall of fame induction or something.

i dont mind the tournament so far but i wish they got more people in it. i dont expect every single person to do amazing but tournaments like this are great ways for some of the lesser known guys to make a name for themselves and prove they can hang with the more experienced guys in the ring. you can also set up storylines that might not happen otherwise as well. maybe if this does well enough tony will make a bigger version with more guys.

A tournament like this is a great way to showcase all the major talent they have that isn't locked up in a story arc or injured and that's usually how they're used in other promotions. I agree though, if this does do well after the new belt comes out that can be defended cross brand than we can get more people next time. However, they should have had some people from other promotions in it. Really they just have Kingston there for ROH and NJPW. Great guy for ROH, not the first guy to come to mind when it comes to a workhorse in NJPW or a guy that does well in tournaments. I would have had a few mystery guys appear like one of the GoD guys or Bad Luck Fale as your big guy in the tournament.

i am actually pretty surprised they did not have any actual new japan guys show up like ishii or whoever else. but i guess this is just a test run to see how things work out with the new belt so if there is a next time maybe we will see some people from NJPW or TNA or wherever else.

Cody's not going to finish the story. He's not Cena, who goes full Veruca Salt demanding Rock job to him after being made to lose to Rock the first time around. Roman's got everyone by the balls and if he wouldn't job at Mania when everyone expected him to do so, when it made the most sense, it's not happening at WM 40. Fuck, I fully expect Roman to do Roman versus Random Uso Brother or Seth Rollins instead of Cody purely to stretch out his reign of terror while continuing to hold the prospect of Rock coming back to face him over Endevour's head.

Punk coming back would at least shatter the current failed paradigm and you can get some actual heat on the Raw Consolation Title by having Punk one-punch beat Seth for the belt at RR and then be given free reign to shit talk Roman without consequences to devalue and dehumanize him and his reign of terror by way of outright saying Roman's title doesn't count/isn't the top title anymore, but the Raw belt/Punk is now Alpha Dog and go full on Titus Andronicus with Punk trolling Roman by way of making him canonically beneath Punk in importance and stature, while Roman seethes impotently.

I feel like Tama has a lingering stink with the majority of old western fans because he was extremely mid and right in the middle of that shit BC civil war storyline when Kenny was still full time, which is why I think he hasn't been on a Forbidden Door show yet. Loa and Fale are absolutely busted and can't go anymore, most other heavyweights aren't going to risk getting injured before WK or are in WTL right now.

If I had to pick a name, Jeff Cobb or Tom Lawlor would fit, be able to cut promos and get over with that audience, and aren't doing anything at the moment. I don't know if they'd actually be seen as real NJPW guys to that audience though.
