As a long term and pretty disappointed aew fan, it's crazy how refreshing the continental classic feels. All of a sudden it feels like the old aew promises can somewhat be kept. Wins matter, the time limit matters, tony can't just keep both his favorite action figures pure by having run-ins that refs are blind to interrupting matches. We get to see fresh matchups, and it's already much more interesting on day 1 than "guy goes to interview, says 2 words, gets interrupted, now they're going to fight at the ppv 2 months later" that 90% of rivalries are currently born from.

I've thought for awhile that a tournament format would benefit aew. Especially since Tony's proved he consistently can't provide a compelling reason for some of the best wrestlers in the world to fight. I hope this proves to be successful and tony doesn't screw with it too much.

True, the tournament is a fresh breath of air bc they now have simple, pure, sports based wrestling matches without to much shenanigans or that are an overbooked mess.

I liked 2/3 of the CC matches. Swerve vs Lethal and Rush vs White were pretty good. Briscoe vs Mox suffered from AEW being not able to plan their 2h time slot properly and thus being rushed in the end.

Tony already screwed with the tournament but whatever. Not motivated enough for an autistic rant. Too bad this Saturday is Survivor Series otherwise I would have tuned in into Collision just to see the other tournament matches.

The latest AEW PPV slop was so bad it's caused Corny to completely derail the latest 'pod and swear off modern pro wrestling for good according to him. Brian has spent the last hour trying to get them to segue into an ad read and Corny just won't do it lmfao.

I spoke too soon. The match being a complete embarrassment to wrestling really upset him but "The Great" Brian Last managed to wrangle him and now they're reviewing the whole show.

Maybe it’s just the inner chud in me but it’s kinda hard to feel bad for a guy who screeches about Americans being dumb privileged cultists and then does the most meticulous Muslin religious ceremonies ever.

Sami, if you hate America so much, why do you wrestle for an American company? Sounds pretty hypocritical to me.

Yeah, I'm not saying it's a new idea or AEW is saved or anything, just that it's some reason to care about who wins or loses. That alone is a nice change from how boring shows have become generally. The more Tony can keep his hands off of it and let wrestlers win and lose the better. It might also give wrestlers an understanding of just how much Tony likes them compared his actual favorite toys.

Tony Cokhan will throw money at anything with a pulse.

To be fair, Will is probably the best in-ring worker in the world at the moment now that Omega is less active.

I just hope that Tony doesn't completely fuck up his handling of Ospreay for however long he has him. He's genuinely good enough to push the company further. The Elite managed to get the thing off the ground and get a TV deal and do a huge attendance in Wembley along with consistently solid PPV attendance/buys.

A talent like Will Ospreay can win new fans if you book him against people who are at his level. It can't be downplayed, WWE were actively looking to sign him because they could see he has a massive upside.

Since moving up to the heavyweight division Ospreay has been doing his best work when he's restrained from being a total spot monkey or dangerously reckless. In AEW he won't be restrained. Working matches like he has against guys like Okada, ZSJ, Naito or Shingo would draw more fans to AEW.
The type of matches like the Ricochet match or the two Kenny matches will only ever draw the type of people who are already watching AEW. Ospreay has admitted he's a slight autist/retard, without people handling what he does he'll seriously injure himself within the year.

Disagree. Tournament's dogshit, the match-ups are dogshit, it's filled with people with no real stories or who Tony can't be arsed to push properly, and the grand prize is something that is meaningless and reeks more of Tony refusing to let Bryan go to Japan to compete in New Japan's version of this farce and so is creating his own and thinking it will keep Bryan pacified and not having him continue to count down the days until he can go back to the WWE if only so he can shut up his cunt wife Bella Fuck 2 (or is it Bella Fuck 1?) since they are super fucking pissy they failed to prepare for the day they would legally be banned from using the Bella surname.

As for this Saturday, one rumor floating around is that the big return is Big E; at which point Big E might as well an-hero himself in the ring on live PPV, since he's going to never fucking live down not being CM Punk if he is the big surprise.

This rumour has literally been repeated by no one, you fucking missed opportunity of an abortion.
