Yeah, Reigns sure lost a lot of muscle definition for being off only a month.

Anyways, Battleground was fantastic, the only low point was whatever the hell the Darren/Miz match ending was. The rest was fantastic, and whoever booked it so that The Usos had to lift Ambrose on their shoulders should get a medal or something, they looked pissed and it made me laugh my ass off.

That has "Vince" written all over it. Just like Rusev's "HAPPY FATHER'S DAY" last PPV.

Battleground was fantastic. I really missed watching a WWE PPV and being this satisfied when it was all said and done. Most of the booking decisions ACTUALLY MADE SENSE, which is great (Poor Becky).

And if you have to pick only one match from last night to watch, please... watch KO X Sami. Wonderful, wonderful stuff and their best match in WWE so far. Quality storytelling!

P.S.: Someone had a "DELETE BROTHER REIGNS" sign, and another person had "ROMAN'S PISS TURNED HEEL".

Right, time for a review of Battleground!

I only caught the tail end of the pre show because I was watching Ghostbusters at Movie Night. I did catch the end of Breezango vs The Usos match and the crowd was hot for Breezango. I can't blame them, they shower together and tan together, what's not to love?

ANYWAY

Sasha Bamks w/mystery Partner vs Charlotte and Dana Brooke.

The mystery partner turned out to be Bayley, who emerged to one of the most monstrous pops of the night. They went on to have a pretty good tag match, both Dana and Charlotte played their roles as evil heels well and the crowd loved it when the two faces got their comebacks in. Sasha tapped Charlotte out clean in the middle with the Banks Statement.

GREAT!

The New Day vs Uncle Bray's House of Fun (Also known as the Wyatt family.)

This match featured Braun Strowman hitting everyone violently, a Big E spear through the ropes that caused him to land on his neck and Xavier Woods being terrified of Bray Wyatt. It was fun. Wyatt one after grabbing a terrified Woods and Sister Abigail right in the middle of the ring.

Rusev vs Zack Ryder.

This match wasn't GREAT, but it was still pretty good. Zack got to hit his finisher, which he hasn't managed in literally decades. Rusev locked the Accolade in and Ryder foguht and fought and just as it looked like he was going to get out of it, Rusev pulled back harder and Zack had no choice but to tap.
It was good storytelling really.

AND THEN MOJO FUCKING RAWLEY RAN DOWN AND CONFRONTED RUSEV. I can already see Bryan Alvarez gnashing his teeth in rage as this played out.

Zayn vs Owens

Beautiful. These motherfuckers killed each other in this match, it was great and I loved it. Watch it, if you watch nothing else from this PPV.

Natalya vs Becky Lynch

This match proves that Becky Lynch is one of the best female babyfaces of the current generation. After a good technical wrestling match, with several attempts at Disarmers and Sharpshooters, Natty finally locks in the Shooter in the middle of the ring. Becky fights and claws to the ropes and Natty pulls her back. This repeats twice while Becky weeps and cries and screams and eventually tapped out and my heart literally fucking melted. One day Becky Lynch will win a PPV match. I keep telling myself that.

The Miz vs Darren Young

This match was completely average until the end. Bob Backlund got slapped by Maryse, who then tried to claim he slapped her. While the ref looked confused, Miz got out of the ring and confronted Backlund, who then ripped off his shirt, though he never quite got his hands out of the sleeves for some reason. Now, I for one believe that Bob Backlund could kill the Miz quite handily, but fortunately we didn't have to, as Darren Young rushed outside and locked Miz in a Crossface Chickenwing as the ref called for the DQ for some reason. However, Darren wouldn't let go of the hold and afterwards stared at his hands in a shocked manner.

This parallels what Bob himself did after he did the same to Bret hart back in the early 90s and it is a pretty interesting thing to see happen. Plus, the Miz being choked out is always fun to watch.

Enzo, Cass and Big Match John vs The Club

Enzo and Cass cut the best promo of the night. They called themselves, "3 Certified Gs", before correcting themselves and saying that because they had John Cena, they were in fact "4G, well connected." Cena looked impressed at this promo, perhaps wishing that he was allowed to cut such great ones.

The match itself was pretty good, Enzo had the shit kicked out of him until the hot tag. The match ended when Cena hit the Mega AA off the top rope for the pin. I'm fine with this finish, it will lead to a blow off at Summerslam and frankly, an AA from the top rope should put someone down for the count.

The Highlight Reel, With RANDY ORTON!

So Jericho came out and then Randy came out. They bantered for a bit, Randy received the gift of Jericho 'DRINK IT IN MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN' and then they spoke a little of Brock Lesnar. Then Randy did something awesome.

"It take, what, twenty suplexes to get to Suplex City? Well it only takes one RKO to send you to Viper Ville.....no enhancements neeeded."

This has to have been a shoot because Chris started howling with laughter before saying 'You're gonna pay for that one.' Randy is bland, but holy shit that was awesome.

Then the RKO from outta nowhere happened. As ya do.

THE SHIELD TRIPLE THREAT HOLY FUCKING SHIT.

Zero cheers for Reigns. ZERO.

The match was pretty good, the three men threw each other around and through tables and stuff. The finish was bizarre. Roman was turnbuckle powerbombed, no sold it and hit the Superman Punch and then speared Rollins, only for Ambrose to run in and Dirty Deeds Reigns for the pin. Roman no sold the move that almost killed Sting. Why?

Overall, this PPV was great, possibly the best they've done all year. Onwards to the biggest party of the Summer!

Oh, thanks! I knew that had to be a reference to something... I just didn't know what was it.

Look at Uso #2's face, and BONUS - Simon Gotch's black eye. Thanks, Sin Cara:

Apparently Jeff Hardy's more of a shitshow now than anyone remembers.

“I attended Bloodymania 10 tonight at the Gathering of the Juggalos, and Jeff Hardy was involved in the main event. He botched several moves over the course of the match, including one that caused several people to be concerned for his well-being.

After the match, Jeff went on a rampage and continuously set up tables and ladders and began dropkicking or just generally attacking and destroying the chairs and ladders.

So I almost forgot to add this as well, from the same article.

He also took a cardboard cutout of Arnold Schwarzenegger and climbed up a ladder with it, then pointed to the sky, I assume he thought it was a person he thought was dead. It was just a trainwreck of a moment for him."

Considering his history of substance problems, it's most likely that Hardy was in a state of intoxication during Bloodymania as well which is the possible reason behind his actions.

The other day, I watching old WCW clips on youtube and in a moment of what I can best describe as temporary insanity, I decided to google "Van Hammer where is he now". Among the first results to appear was this lovely article from about 3 years ago.

The main thing to take away here is that he got married at a fucking Cracker Barrel.

Cracker Barrel is important to wrestlers.
