Agree, however WHO? They don't have that guy. They have a boatload of talented mid carders and some main eventers, but Austin caliber? uh uh. No one anywhere close. They would end up putting the strap on Cena and having the huge jawed mongoloid talk about skidmarks
There's also the matter of power levels within the show, too.
Brock's power levels are some crazy shit like Mil Muertes at this point.

I'd go with Owens or Ambrose or Cesaro, but they could also go with Orton or Rusev or Big E. They could also bring up Finn Balor, have him do nothing but win, and make him the guy, but I doubt they'll go for it.

That said, it's not gonna be Cena. If only because I'm almost positive they're booking Cena/Taker for this year's 'Mania.

There is no way in hell they are going to take this huge asset that is Brock Lesnar's run the past two year and let Owens, Ambrose, Cesaro, Rusev or Big E have that rub of being the one who "conquered the conqueror". Finn most certainly no. I feel the WWE does a lot wrong, but this asset they have in Brock's current run can help make the next number one face. I don't think any of those guys are ready to make the most of that rub. Owens would overachieve, that's what he does, but Big E, Rusev, no. Ambrose? I don't see the WWE backing him, even though he does have it in him (I think). Finn? That ain't happening.

Cena is most likely because the WWE overvalues him as their "merch" leader and do not plan for 1-2 years down the road. Cena "merch" sales are down, that's why he went on the current tear after the whole Owens thing. He's beating the World Champ left and right, it's nonsensical, but it is what it is. If this was last year, they would waste it on Reigns, have him win the Rumble. I could still see Reigns be the guy who takes Brock down.

So AAA's ppv happened. No Park or Wagner, but they debuted "Taurus" a minotaur looking thing and Garza jr, apparently a relation of Hector Garza. Really a great show.

Mark my words. Cena will face Taker this year at 'Mania, or I will eat this comment.

meanwhile, not to be outdone by NXT Zone's Damn Luck, The Artist Formerly Known As Sin Cara, Formerly Known As Mistico, and apparently Soon To Be Formerly Known As Myzteziz showed up in the indie that has very strong ties to his pre-WWE company CMLL, the rival of his current employer (AAA).

No one burns bridges better.

Why do I ever watch RAW? WHY?

Every few weeks or months I'll find myself with free time on a Monday night and the desire for a little escapist entertainment, so I'll tune into the FLAGSHIP SHOW of pro wrestling worldwide... and every time I totally regret it.

New Day are hilarious. Watching Randy Orton corpsing as he got called a groupie on live TV was great... but that was THE ONLY THING that entertained or engaged me... 30 seconds of material, 10 minutes into the first hour. The whole rest of the show was stale, embarrassing, boring, corny or sad. Wasting talent like Cesaro and Neville that badly should be illegal, and watching Reigns die an agonizing slow death on the mic is so cringily anti-entertaining I feel like I should get paid to sit through it.

I used to love RAW, but now it just crushes my spirit.

tl;dr: RAW robs me of my spoons.

Familiarity with the idea of watching wrasslin on Mondays.

I suggest DVRing some promotions on cable, like I record Paragon Pro, Championship Wrestling From Hollywood, and ROH off cable as my reserves in case the onlines are dry on a Monday.

Taima tv over in the 420chan sphere of onlines usually has some alternatives, too. Last night starting at... 10? I think nine or ten Eastern time, I'm on a lot of painkillers from a tooth out so I forget, but last night CMLL (the near-100 year old Mexican promotion) had a decent show live on youtube. You can catch replays at

I tuned into raw at about 9, saw it was John Cena vs Mystery Wrestler, allowed myself to hope it would be somebody interesting, and then Dolph Ziggler came out to flop around like a fish hit with a cattle prod so I turned it off as soon as it was clear he was really the guy and Samoa Joe or James Storm or Tatanka or anybody wasn't coming out to beat him up then be Cena's real opponent.

Only thing on Raw worth watching is New Day.

I've got to admit, when New Day first came around with the "So obnoxiously face that they're heel" gimmick, I just cringed at it. But now they're actually starting to grow on me, they've tapped into the Spirit Squad (in a good way) in terms of "annoying, obnoxious heels you just want to see get knocked the fuck out".

And the trombone is the greatest heel manager thing since Jimmy Hart's megaphone.

She's a columnist or whatever, so it's her job to make hay of Cornette being a dumbass. I'm glad that, while calling him out, she still emphasized that she appreciated his contributions to the sport.

The live wrestling I go to is all super family-friendly and the audience is maybe almost half female, including shrieking eight-year-old girls running around during the show hitting each other and front-row old ladies who cuss at the heels and try to grab the babyfaces' butts. This is NOT saying any of the experiences Matheson talks about are untrue, just saying I'm glad all the shows near me are backwoods style family entertainment instead of ironic fedora smarkfests.

When I did once go to see Jim Ross' live show he was a condescending dick to the female audience members who asked him questions, making jokes about their boyfriends dragging them there or whatever. Then he told a hi-larious anecdote about a trans lady being beat up by a wrestler. har har Jim, thanks for that as I sat next to my 50-year-old trans lady friend who I'd convinced to take a day off work to attend and who'd been a fan of yours basically her whole adult life.
