Why do all these old-school wrestler podcasts popping up have the same 2 guys cohosting each and all of them? I get these guys are old and might not be able to carry an entire hour or two of conversation, but if that's the case, why even start a podcast in the first place?

Damien Priest looks like he could be a world champ, but he doesn't have the presence, psychology, or move set in the ring to convince me he is the WHC.
I think they've basically trying to make him a modern Dolph Zigglar/Jack Swagger. A guy who languishes in the mid-card who can have a rocket strapped to him at any time and be a credible threat to the champ for an easy feud leading into a B PPV.

Face MJF wasn't working so AEW turns him heel again. Won't he just get lost in the shuffle given all the other top heels?

It's a promotion built on heels, so what could we really expect? MJF won't work as a face in AEW because AEW doesn't have the ability to develop and promote true face wrestlers. So, in that case, was it REALLY a heel turn if that was the only possible outcome in the first place? MJF will end up like the other talent on AEW: great potential, tremendous talent, but wasted in their prime to become glorified jobbers.

Money and having a podcast is the "in" thing right now. Pretty much everyone and their grandmother has a podcast nowadays, but most of them are throwaway content that only reaches niche listeners. Wrestling pods have taken advantage of the death of kayfabe and rely on shoot interviews to garner attention. The only wrestling pods I listen to that cover current events are Jim Cornette's Drive-Thru and Experience. Cornette does a great job, as does Brian Last, to keep things level, even if it comes off as being negative in some aspects. It also helps that they're a week BEHIND current episodes, because then there's some time for me as a viewer to digest what's happening, form an opinion, and then be challenged on my conclusions. That is how a current wrestling podcast should be.

But dudes like Undertaker that do nothing but reminisce about their prime is boring as hell. Chris Van Vliet does great interviews where guys do reminisce, but there's also a lot of space for them to elaborate on other details and stories. I wish he did some longer interviews, especially with some of the guests he's able to pull, but I usually listen to Ariel Halwani if I want longer form segments (even if not focused entirely on wrestling).

Dynamite was actually quite good this week. Feels like they corrected course on a few things and changed up the dynamic of the show a bit. They still have way too many heels/tweeners though. There's nothing wrong with a pure white-bread corny face and they need to establish one now that Cody is long gone.

I'm also impressed that they seem to be slowly righting the ship with the womens division. The fans loved the Willow v, Statlander match, Britt and Mercedes got a good reaction and Toni is still as popular as ever. They still only get one match and maybe one in-ring segment a week so it shouldn't be hard to build a relatively small core of popular girls who can actually do a promo and/or put on good matches on a weekly basis.

Punk, McIntyre, Gunther, and a couple other guys could make that belt the envy of the entire roster. Dudes like Cody or Roman aren’t the target for it. You have to have a definitive cutoff between those two classes. Universal needs to be leagues above the WHC. That doesn’t mean the WHC on its own merit is lesser than Universal, but it could be used as an important stepping stone to get to that higher echelon.
So... treat it like the intercontinental title was meant to be treated?

I don't think so. People were pretty pissed that Drew got screwed at the Clash and if they keep pushing Punk as screwing with Drew, it runs the risk of turning Drew as a real face and Punk as a heel.
Except Drew isn't sympathetic and most people wanting him to beat Damien Priest is 100% due to people still going "what the hell?" wondering why Priest is a world champion. He's being a shithead to Punk and Punk's giving him the Bugs Bunny treatment trolling the fuck out of him and Hunter is all-in on Priest as Raw champion purely because of contrarian reasons due to everyone pegging Prest as a placeholder champ.

It also hurts that no one wants to really boo Punk and he still has the sympathy factor from what happened in AEW. Turning Punk heel would require a massive storyline where they'd have to find an angle to make it work and commit to pushing Punk as the top heel and jobbing out people like Roman Reigns multiple times to Punk to firmly establish Punk as the new top heel of the WWE.

I don't think they have in their plans turning Punk heel. The guy is way too sympathetic to cheer now than he was just two years ago. WWE is enjoying the downward spiral that AEW is experimenting right now and they're gaining way too much with Punk as a babyface than his classic heel persona for a turn to occur anytime soon.

I think that Punk screwing Drew over and over is kind of a win for both sides given the fact that heel Drew has almost no redeeming qualities as his character, so seeing him get screwed over by Punk feels more like a proper punishment than Punk acting in a heelish way. Even then, Punk is more like the babyface that is a good guy, but he takes no shit from anyone, so getting his dues with Drew like that feel justified, if he was a white meat babyface like Cody Rhodes, then that would be a problem.

The thing I love about Punk/McIntyre is there's no real face or heel, but it still works because their motivations are obvious/logical and their rivalry is compelling. They somehow actually pulled off the whole "there's no faces or heels" thing that Vince unsuccessfully pushed for decades.

I get there's some smark snark towards Punk, but while he's uninjured he's still got it. Too bad he's fragile now.

Punk if he wrestles at all is better of working a Cena-type schedule, making non-wrestling appearances and occasionally coming in for a big match once in awhile, I like Punk but you have to call a spade a spade, he cant go like he used too without getting hurt.

I've been calling hime "Empty-headed Dumb Fuck" (EHDF for short) ever since. It has a ring to it.
I used to call him that in a Wrestling chat group and often make fun of his "workers rights" catchphrase.

It made the AEW fanboys in that chat seethe because of it, it was a delight to see.

To be fair, the guy is an absolute tool too lol. Paige really sees himself as hot shit because he got lucky with AEW. Punk was right about him and the "I don't really take advice" thing he was saying in interviews was completely true. Sucks to suck.

thats the thing with AEW-fans theres no criticism of the wrestlers or company in general tolerated, even in jest, I don't 100% agree with Cornette on everything but one thing hes fundamentally 100% right on is that AEW fags are a bunch of thin-skinned retards, to them AEW is good simply on the basis that it wasn't created by Vince.

They're sickos alright, but not in the endearing way that Tiny Klown intended with his remark. MarkyD123 had to stop covering AEW because (in addition to AEW copyright striking his videos) their fanboys kept harassing him and attacking him when he'd criticize their product. It's pathetic hivemind bullshit.

Cornette did "commentary" for an AEW match on one of his recent shows and it's really funny hearing him mald over all the different little things they get wrong. He might get me to start watching more AEW if he keeps it up.
