Basically, the kids now have access to bikes and scooters that are as fast as motor vehicles (something I wish I had as a kid, not going to lie). However, the kids are not trained to use the roads in the same way (or at all) as people with motor vehicles are. So now you have kids running stop signs and eating shit for it: getting hit by cars, getting into accidents and at very high mortality risks. You and I think it obvious that you should stop and look all three ways at a stop sign, but this is actually a trained skill learned from driver's ed., and the kids just don't know any better, so they run through 'em at full speed. Now I guess they are wearing motorcycle helmets, even though I'm pretty sure it's not mandated by law (yet), for safety reasons? They might have to wear full moto-gear with the long sleeves and jeans soon as well.
I am getting the feeling that this will be similar to r/KidsAreFuckingStupid. Green Reddit maxxing!

How these kids speak is like an alien language. Also i remember one time while i was out some kid looked at me while crossing the street and i shit you not, started singing that one “sigma boi” song. I felt myself die inside that day.
I'm glad I don't even know the song.

My Gen Alpha nephew came to our place last Christmas with his family. He went on my computer and played shitty AI videos when we were at home along with some random browser games.

I'll give him one thing, even though he's an iPad kid, at least he knows how to navigate an actual desktop PC. He grasped how to use browser tabs unlike my dad who's been using computers since the 90s and still can't. Also used my dual monitor setup for games and videos at the same time.

Is SYBAU a Gen Alpha thing? For some reason I fucking hate that retarded phrase and its weird “meme” image with that broken heart emoji, the empty parking lot (?) background, and some random ass fictional character. Anytime I see someone use that phrase or one of those images on the internet, I automatically assume they’re a minor.

Are we finally done attributing all of Gen Alpha's dumb shit to "Gen Z?" I don't think the boomers figured out that a sizeable portion of Gen Z are in their mid to late 20s now XD

had to tell a gen alpha to quit driving their hover scooters near my lawn.

I was talking about the solar system with an 11-year-old cousin and she didn't know any of the Roman gods the planets were named after or how to pronounce the word "dwarf" when asking AI about Pluto. I read LotR at her age...

"shut your bitch ass up" has been a phrase for decades but it does seem like it's recently somewhat entered an astroturfed/forced meme territory in it's specific recent usage.

The youngest of Gen Z were born in 2012 so that still makes them 16-17 at the youngest. Plenty of stupid shit to be had. If anybody's trying to attribute the Ipad baby name to them that's mostly incorrect, sure. Most of gen z however didn't really know a world without easy access to the internet with a computer in every home and spent most of their life with actual memories living with the maturation of the smartphone.

The biggest issue there is also categorizing early Z vs late Z. There's a major difference between someone who was limited to chatrooms, the general 2000s web and it's games and ps2/xbox/gamecube/ds in their childhood etc, and, stretching that definition if their family had more cash to burn, x360, ps3, wii as the height of entertainment technology and someone who never lived a year of their life before Steve Job's greatest mistake and the true rise of social media. Plus growing up in the post 9/11 environment and sandwiched with 2008. Early-mid Z would have also had a lot of experience with cable/sat TV while I would doubt you have a majority of alpha knowing anybody besides their grandparents who watch that shit with most of what they're shown on their personal chink smart TV being streaming content.

I'm not the best at quantifying this, I'm sure there's been far more in depth discussions on the generational intricacies here, and late Z haven't even gotten past high school yet.

2012 would make them 14.

If that's the case then the criteria for each generation needs to be narrowed. A 29 year-old has almost nothing in common with a 14 year-old.

Oops, was still working on thinking the cutoff was 2010 for whatever reason.

I've been thinking this way for a while, the way gens are organized past the 1900s makes absolutely no sense. The information age has taken a torch to a lot of ideas. This in particular may have made a margin of sense when things developed and altered much slower in the greater culture.

oh boy i can't wait for more new join dates that admit to fucked up shit getting aroused to shitting themselves when they were 11 like that fucked up diaperfur thread kid was. And by 'can't wait" I mean FUCK MAN WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD TODAY GET ME OUT OF THE DIGITAL CIRCUS
There's some terrible shit out there from Zoomers alone, an example from a two effortposts I made: a 12-year-old who a guy almost twice her age did rape ERP with apparently knew about porn since she was 7 because a YouTuber she watched covered a Mario porn game. Admittedly this is a pretty extreme example but I agree that I'm also a little worried in what horrors will be revealed by powerlevelling by new join dates.
