I'm still hoping to find that someone's taken that animated gif of the Hulk smashing Loki around and labeled Loki 'Gawker'.

This isn't censorship for censorship's sake, this is the law saying that unless there's a compelling reason that serves the public trust, you can't air someone's legal but dirty laundry obtained through illegal means for no other reason than it makes you money.

Basically, there is no Constitutional right to free juicy gossip. Only unethical tabloids could hate this ruling.

Old media don't like this guy's arguments. CBS tried to treat him fairly on Sunday Morning, but he couldn't answer their questions without looking like a douche. I mean, Jesus, look at the face the poor interviewer made listening to his bullshit. You know she hates the clickbait. Real journalists can deal with the ethical issues just fine without a loudmouth fighting for the right to watch horrible, horrible videos.

With the extra $25 million, that would be at $55 million now.

Who wants to celebrate with laughing gifs and celebration vids?!

Incidentally, the punis are split up between the parties rather than joint and several, like the actual damages. So that's $15 million from Gawker, $10 million from Nick Denton personally, and $100,000 from the bum A.J. Daulerio probably because he's a broke guy.

ETA: source, this Hollywood Reporter article posted somewhere else on this board earlier. It's well worth a read and is the first article I've seen that gave a solid rundown on the actual procedural stuff as to how the case got to where it is.

Lo, the Hulk of Hogan rode forth
To prove his worth.

He said to himself, thinking of their dismay
"Brother, today, those limpdicks are gonna pay"
For, the great beast Gawker, he would slay.

The battle went on for day and night
But eventually, even the great beast could not resist his might.
It writhed and squirmed, screaming in spite.

But, that was the end of the great beast.
And in the Hulk of Hogan's honor, there would be a joyous feast.

Makes sense they're hemorrhaging money, it's obvious Gawker didn't take their vitamins and study everyday.

And now, the best one so far.

I love you, Taiwanese Animation Studio.
