Sometimes there's games where the woke writing or ugly aesthetics make it difficult to tolerate despite good gameplay, but other times there might be a game that people avoid because of how the fanbase behaves online or certain parts that were very badly written, but the overall game is still worth playing. Perhaps you think that woke reputation was unwarranted even. What are examples of the latter?

Two that come to mind for me are Greedfall, where the game railroads you into working with the native americans and there's annoying dialogue, and Ultrakill, which has an infamously troon infested fanbase but is still a really well done FPS.

Part of the reason I'm making this thread is because I'm curious about 2018 Spider-man game, which has a reputation for being libtarded but seems to have really good combat and traversal mechanics.

If I'm being objective there's some cases, but I can't really enjoy them because it's kinda like eating out of clean toilet or something, it just feels disgusting.

VA-11 Hall-A comes to mind, it is a visual novel that features faggots. I didn't know going in and it was enjoyable until that popped up, so if you can stomach it then it's got a cozy cyberpunk atmosphere.

Another is Rogue's Legacy, It's too hard and repetitive but for the first few hours it's crazy addictive. It, too, features fags, but in an even worse way. Every time you respawn as your descendants the next generation gets a random trait, each with some effect (like more health or whatever), but one trait is being gay, and it doesn't effect anything, that's supposed to be their clever commentary on how being a cock sucking faggot is totally normal. Of course, that should be the end of the lineage right there if they had a brain in their head.

I'll start with the most obvious one. Stardew Valley.

It's a great casual farming game that defines the term cozy. The main problem with it is me, who keeps trying to maximize output and collections, instead of "do each day as it comes" laid back attitude. The game is condemned as woke for the high crime of ...having a mixed race relationship. One of if not the only black guy in the game is dating a white woman. That's basically it. Some also complain about certain character designs. ie. There's a few people with brightly coloured hair. Other complaints like the game using pixel art don't work for me either.

That said, I don't feel strongly enough to say definitively it's not-woke, but I still think it's good.

I'll give an honourable mention to Palworld. This was hated by wokescolds, but at the same time I hear people say it's woke because it has Body Type A/B.

i follow steam curators and DEI Shitlisting Groups to avoid woke games, there hasn't really been any good one.

It's the exactly same as the Arkham Batman games but with less weight to punches, over reliance on gadgets and fabulous dodging that always feels a frame to long. Story is mid and forgettable same as the world. Just play Spiderman 2 for the PS2 as it's the better game in every way.

Signalis kinda has the reputation of being a woke game, but that's mostly because of its fan base, who are obsessed with making yuri content involving the main char and her love interest. If you can avoid the game's subreddit and its xitter mentions, it's an amazingly atmospheric game.

Baldur's gate 3 is another obvious example of a woke game, from the bear sex scene, to the option of playing as a dwarf dickgirl with titty streamer hair. Again, if you can avoid the aforementioned cesspools and give the game a fair try, you can avoid most of the woke garbage and enjoy a very good game.

This the first time I've seen anyone claim that Stardew Valley is a woke game, and it's for an incredibly retarded reason. Holy shit. It's a game where you fish, grow plants and raise animals and befriend villagers, for God's sake.

I heard it also has faggotry, and some degree of communist themes or something like that.

I never really felt that Baldur's Gate 3 was "woke" because it's actually a really good game
Yeah I think it's not so much woke as it is crowded by weirdos, hence said weirdos rallying around the druid/bearsex guy during the testing phase.

Despite being constantly blinded by Mary Jane's colossal chin, I'd still say Spider-Man 2 is worth a punt just for Kraven and Venom. Anything that'd irk or rankle is mostly in side quests that can be ignored.

It was getting the woke label because everyone is bi and there's like, one or two rando nobody NPCs that allude to being gay.

I admit I barely remember the plot because I haven't played it since release, but I don't remember it being particularly political. It's largely "stop super-villains from rampaging throughout New York" while getting distracted by a variety of sidequests and minigames. Spider-man is even pretty friendly with the cops/the cops are typically shown as being the good guys. There's a few MJ segments, which I admit suck, but it's not because she's #girlboss or anything, they're just really lackluster stealth segments that you can fortunately cheese by ignoring any form of stealth and just running from checkpoint to checkpoint.

The sequels are a little more woke, Miles's game especially has some really bad writing in that everyone in Harlem feels like they're written as the perfect minority community who all get along perfectly well and haven't ever committed a single sin in their life. It kinda has the vibes of one of those movies where they have to save the community center, but it'll cost $50,000, but thankfully, there's a community talent show taking place with a $50,000 cash reward. There's also a "corporation = evil" plot, but to be fair I don't know if that's necessarily a woke writing thing or just a common comic trope.

The second game (again, going off memory) isn't *that* bad, I remember MJ being more of an action girl in her very forced segments, but again, I'm not sure if that was really like...a woke thing or just them trying to make the stealth segments suck less (which to their credit, they do suck less but are still pretty bleh) but the main game is pretty fun and an overall improvement off of the first one. I remember liking the boss fights a lot more in the second one, they're not awful in the first, but they weren't particularly memorable.

It's just that Larian are horny belgian faggots that keep doing this shit. The game is OK, but it isn't different from their previous titles. DOS2 had straight up smut and necrophilia in it, but no one is talking about that.

Anyways, to answer the threads question? Pathfinder WOTR. If you can ignore the obnoxious dykes* (one of them is a man that drank a potion to turn into a woman), then the game is very good overall.

A thing that I've noticed is that woke games which present their wokeness as optional tend to be significantly better than those for which wokeness is a core part of them. Having fun gameplay and an enjoyable story is more than enough for me to ignore background wokeness as long as it doesn't substract from the overall experience.
Like, I get it, some people want to have same-sex romances or play as a weird race or character. Having the option to do that might be a plus to other people and that's fine. As long the devs don't prioritize it over important mechanics, and the woke garbage is easy to ignore, or is inserted into the world in a believable way, it's possible for it to not worsen the experience.

tl;dr: good games with woke elements are fine, games which simply try to fill every woke checkbox, with no other concerns are not

Idk if this counts but Terraria has some troon references (gender change potion with the troon flag colors, no gender selection in character creation) and the devs are openly left wing but the game is still amazing in my opinion and the troon shit isn't in your face and it's optional. Same goes for the Calamity mod of terraria.

Infiltrating established franchises and smearing good games with tinges of woke shit is the only way they have of spreading their universally hated ideology to gamers. When they do try to make their own games, like Concord, it ends up becoming the biggest flop in the history of video games.

Arkane's Prey has a reputation for being proto-woke, though it's mostly awkwardly inserted lesbianism (no troons). The game's other issues eclipse any woke elements, though I still find it to be quite good overall. The last decent game Arkane made.

Take a step back and it's obvious: All but 1 or 2 title updates have been sex themed. More dick sucking, more kisses, longer dick riding, more poly-gooning. Sure, I know that's a large drive for D&D games and you saw it in medieval times too; sex and death aplenty in equal measures.

But BG3 is literally just a visual novel with sex scenes. Of course chicks are gonna sit down and read every single tooltip and drag their non-gamer bodies through a hugely complex game cause they get to ride a red tiefling who would've fucked on first date if not a convenient hellfire engine in her cunt or whatever.

People play BG3 in spite of its gameplay, not because of it. Had there been no sex scenes and no fetishism - at best, hetero marriage, it would've been written off. Yet on the other hand, you got Pathfinder where a succubus (?) makes you both invisible and you fuck on an altar during a sermon, but I guess that's too straight and not-quirky-in-the-right-way for a slice of that Larian pie.
