If that's the case, that is hilarious. Itd because of him and Patrick that I just sort of stopped listening to Giant Bomb.

Was annoying hearing everyone suck his dick because he was working on a English PhD.
They did that because it would finally give them something to point to when someone said they were all idiots. Which they are.

LOL. I love seeing Shrill getting his hypocrisy thrown in his face and hiding behind the block like the thin-skinned bitch he is.

THOSE LEAKS WERE OK BECAUSE IT WAS ME WHO LEAKED THEM!

Ok, Bloomer.

He's dancing around the fact that his reported "leaks" were actually selectively released by the marketing teams of the various studios he talked to. Can't spoil the fun and make himself look like an even bigger shill.

Having been on quarantine for a couple of weeks it became just so glaringly obvious how inefficient some of these people are.

Giant Bomb for example has at least 10 people working there to include at least 4 full-time video producers. Between all these people here's what they're putting out:
- Out of the 12 most recent "articles" posted on their site 10 of them are "Community Spotlights" put together by one of their forum mods. Between the other two only one of them is a review and the most recent review posted before that is from November
- For videos I'll refer to the time before all this virus shit: they put out 3-4 quicklooks and 2-3 features per week. Which may sound like a lot but for the most part these are completely unedited programs where the staff members just lazily boot up a game on Steam that they "meant to get around to" or is some 2D pixel art brawler.

For every video series they have that is worth anything (Demo Derby and Game Tapes where Jeff just talks about the industry in the 90s and early 2000s) they have like four that are total unwatchable garbage (anything with Abby where she just explains that she's never played any games other than The Sims and Gone Home or whatever).

That's where the time question comes into play:
There are a ton of Youtubers who write, record, edit, and publish videos once a week or more by themselves as a hobby. Why is it that between a dozen or so "journalists" presumably working 40 hours a week we get 4 hours of content a week with maybe someone doing a "lol so random" transition with a Tricaster a handful of times in an otherwise unedited video?

Sad to see because at a point I really enjoyed their content but now they're getting completely BTFO'd by some 19 year olds on Youtube.

That second screenshot is a screenshot of Jason getting murdered.

"Instead of leaking, he should have organized the workforce"
"Like you did at Kotaku?"

Savage.

LOL. I bet Jason didn't do shit to unionize or even so much as shoot an email at his new bosses. His dwarf looking ass just logged onto Linkedin to update his resume and look for a new job. If Kotaku was the Titanic, he'd brag about being Leo helping Rose escape when he's really Billy Zane pushing down old ladies to get on the lifeboat.

Giant Bomb has always been total shit, it’s just taken til now for most people to notice it.

It is slime like him who are the most to blame for goobergrape. More than worthless cunts like Zoe Quinn who mainly existed just to be able to claim it was all just soggy knees.

That is because in a same world instead of the "GAMERS ARE DEAD!" article bullshit, there would have been articles about "Holy shit a major game reviewer used his position to get sex from a married woman." but we live in god damn Clown World so they circled the wagons to protect one of their own.

I used to enjoy their content a lot more, but frankly they spread themselves way too thin and have lost too many people to really course correct. Splitting the office was a bad idea in retrospect as it meant they severely cut down the ability for several people to work together (such as Jeff + Vinny content) and then losing Drew and Dan on top of that really left them in a position where they have to lean on people like Ben and Abby, when clearly that's a bad idea.

I really have no idea where they go from here, but they are on a short(ish) time table. The "core" is down to Jeff, Vinny, Brad, and Alex - and they're all getting older, having kids and/or thinking about retiring, and not even in the same office so they can't lean on each other as much as they'd like to.

There's also the total lack of innovation - Giantbomb (through Jeff) became so large because they were able to innovate in the video game journalism space; with a huge (and correct) focus on video content. They haven't really innovated beyond that, though, and it shows.

Giantbomb (currently) only "works" during the special events they have, which are primarily excuses to get both offices into one room (Christmas, GOTY, big conference coverage) and they don't seem to do it all that often.

It's always fun when Vinny or Jeff is talking about something and Abby cuts them with some dumb take about how she's never done it so she can't relate. I doubt we'll ever get segments like Vinnco or Johnny V. giving a psp full of porn to a NBA player ever again.

Once Drew left I was done with GB. He was kind of boring but in a good way that countered Dan and Jeffs insanity. If Ryan dying was the end of one era, Drew leaving was the end of another, since they brought in fucking Ben and Abby shortly after.
