Of course, that heart warming story of former Escapist employees coming together to go independent after escaping their evil overlord is bullshit and the new company is being run by a collosal faggot. Why the hell am I even surprised?

I'd love to be proven wrong, but I don't think there's enough people that are angry enough for a Streisand effect. If Quartering and some of the more center-left Youtuber's cover it, it'll have a chance, but SmashJT doesn't seem like he's popular enough to mount that kind of reaction.

Wix has taken down @SmashJT's website for Kotaku Identified, a blog which tracked games journalists who moved on from Kotaku including to video game development. They've mass-reported his blog for privacy invasions, so Wix stole his domain and the archive of his entire blog.

Its going sour in a hurry. Most support went to Second Wind because of Yahtzee, but clearly the powers that be at the Escapist had good cause to fire these mongoloids. The mistake Escapist made was hiring all these fools in the first place that they had the collective power to ruin them when they tried to get rid of them.

Its pretty clear that Second Wind, far from being a breath a fresh air, is a stale fart from the same rotting corpse of the Gaym Media Komplex.

Was The Escapist a thing without Yahtzee? I'll admit I entertained some of their other talent, but it seriously felt like Yahtzee was floating the entire platform; as everything else eventually withered away (or fired). I remember the first shake up, where there were reports of people not getting paid on time or other issues, and I'm not gonna say running a website is easy, but it felt like one dude was financing upper management's cocaine parties.

Historically Yahtzee likes to stay out of controversies like this so I'm sure if he suddenly starts losing pay because his boss decided to stick his dick in a hornets nest, he's going to be pissed and this time, I'm pretty sure he owns all his IP.

FFS. I have Assassins Creed Black Flag sitting in my steam library unplayed for a year now because when I bought it I did not know it required Ubisofts launcher program. And when I read the end user agreement bet your ass I clicked no. But apparently refusing to accept third party contracts is not acceptable for refunds on Steam, so now I am out 10 bucks.

I sit here, and look at that title on my steam library and seethe every day. But what makes me seethe more is all the gormless idiots who don't read the agreements and just sign that shit at the bottom like its just the normal part of doing business with these vile corporations.

Really hope this isn't power leveling, but this is expected behavior for "gaming journalists." Seeing this featured was more of an eyebrow raise than a gasp lol. Even on LinkedIn, Kotaku is one of many shitter publications (alongside CBR and thegamer etc etc) to post job listings, either under the publication or through its parent company. Interestingly, Kotaku's parent company's portfolio is comprised of mostly neoliberal publications that are, imo, at fault for the current decline of digital journalism by shitting out listicles like Top Things You Must Buy As A Retarded Consoomer or very feeble, poorly written "commentary" that use a lot of words to say nothing and push misinterpretations of language like "male gaze" (film term) and other shit.

Kotaku is one of the publications that ask for a strange amount of experience (5-7 years, iirc) despite having the reputation that they do, with a recruiting process including a beefed up portfolio and a cover letter that has you twerking on their meat to make sure you are "one of them." Which, again, isn't uncommon for "gaming publications" in general. The real spergs won't be the ones applying to those listings, especially not Kotaku, so it always seemed that they hired and promoted from within the parent company and its other publications. Won't be surprised if this blows up in their face for good. Most of the people who write for gaming publications do backflips for shit pay and are tabbed into TV Tropes more than the games they should be playing and talking about. The copywriting industry is hard to break into right now, so to get into Kotaku, writers and editors had to do some major bootlicking for $28 per article. No wonder they're so defensive about having a shitlist on them, lol. Probably means that they won't be hired to an actual decent journalism position because they're getting tangled up in some stupid shit and having their faces and real names tied to controversy.
 
They're feds. All journalists are effectively feds. They can have your livelihood shut off like a light switch. It doesn't matter who you are or what you have, they can take everything away from you. This is how the government gets around the constitution. They just privatize and outsource this to a civilian NKVD. There is nothing left to say that isn't a fedpost.
