Never messaged him directly or @'d him. This mustve just happened as I was able to see his tweets a few days ago. He was trying to do damage control on reddit but on Xitter there were a lot of threads talking about how much he knew about the Blizzard assaults.
The faggot is probably using an auto-blocker.

Schreier used to post pro-Israel anti-Palestine stuff back on the old GameFAQs offshoot and I'm sure his views would definitely clash with the modern left.
I don't remember specifics of what he said but people always used to give him shit for wanting to bomb Palestinian kids or something to that effect.
So that picture is real?

I think a lot of people didn't even realize because Giant bomb has been irrelevant for like a decade at this point, but, they actually got sold again in 2022. That is another sell mind you: CBS got rid of them in 2020 and then the new buyer (Red Ventures) got rid of them 2 years later.

That's when Gerstmann left, or more accurately was fired. According to him anyway he was planning on quitting that year after E3 was over but Fandom (new buyer, yes the shittily designed wiki people) got fed up and purged him.

So yeah, there hasn't been an original member at the website for almost 2 years now. Kinda surprised they haven't been shut down yet. Maybe with no office and so few employees they manage to get by with people who've forgotten to unsub from premium + the little ad revenue they get. But I somehow doubt it lol. I have to imagine they'll get axed at some point.

Nextlander (if anyone remembers it, that's what Alex, Vinny, and Brad went off to do after GB) is still hanging around. Their patreon numbers are good technically (close to 9k) but the only time they've ever seen growth is when Jeff was fired from GB; otherwise their numbers have been stagnant if you're being generous but being real if you just look at their bar graph on graphtreon they lose like 100 subs nearly every month. Not a huge drop off but death by a thousand cuts I'd say.

Which isn't surprising, can't really grow an audience when you disable comments on youtube (which they do for every video lol) and you have such a shit lineup. Brad has always been boring as hell but he somehow gets more boring as time goes on, and, Alex is completely insufferable and apparently has only gotten more unhinged these days. Vinny only works when he has someone to shoot the shit with, which he does not anymore. Even the current zombified GB gets more youtube views than them lol, though probably doesn't matter a ton since Nextlander relies on patreon.
Alex going on the same gaming union vs corporation rant every other episode has gotten way long in the tooth.

Honestly, Vinny should do like Gerstmann and just go solo.

I don't understand the appeal of the Gerstmann show. Tuned in for my second episode yesterday and it was just 30 minutes of him drinking grape soda and talking about how much he likes grape soda and misses 4 loko.

Who the fuck is paying for this?

I take back this comment. Been subscribed to him for about six months or so now. His wild AM Radio style podcasts are generally pretty good.

I get the impression he hates everyone he ever worked with tho.

No... I tend to agree with your first take. Its completely bizarre that people pay for jeff to monologue in a messy room of his house about video games. Its a pale shadow of Giant bomb in it's heyday. All these journos launched their patreons with the promise that they were going to redefine games coverage... I still havent seen it yet. I think they survive because there is a hardcore base that worship them (check their reddits) and there are people like me that put it on as background noise or to hate watch.

The picture is faked from the early gamergate days to try and get Neogaf to turn on him. I still remember when he kept trying to get his personal "Gaming news" website off the ground and offered to pay writers with clout. I wish I downloaded my stuff when LL died.
So was Schreier NOT Fox1337 (the nose-rubbing furfag guy) then? I thought I distinctly remembered his arc trying to break into games journalism, but maybe I'm way off and conflating two different users - it was a long time ago.

Giant Bomb update:
They're still around. Dan Ryckert continues to breathe life into it every now and then.
In light of the death of Rooster Teeth, how long does Giant Bomb have?
It can go on forever, basically.

RoosterTeeth died because they were burning millions of dollars every year with very little to show for it. Giantbomb costs next to nothing to produce - it has almost 0 overhead (everyone works from home and has side gigs), only 6 "employees" who are likely contractors, and hasn't rented office space/invested into the product in any meaningful way for like ~4 years. It's part of what likely drove Jeff Gerstmann away - they were clearly in a skeleton crew mode and the parent company had 0 plans to invest in it.

They're just a group of mediocre streamers now - the time where Giantbomb was considered to be an industry leader is long gone.

That was explicitly his reason. He was souring on the company for a few years, but stuck around because they still did interviews and things around E3 and the other conventions. When everything went to work from home he knew he could do that himself, keep all the money, and not have any of the dead weight newbies they were bringing in.

Giant Bomb cant even do stuff like timestamp its podcasts or organize its videos into playlists, the excuses is that they dont have enough staff, even though they have a full time video producer.

Its a joke, even their subreddit is full of people that acknowledge it. Dan is just there for a paycheck, everyone else is a literally who.

Don't think they'll be getting to that full-time tier. Problem with user-supported media is you have to provide a product people want.

Just taking a glance at the website.
- Article about other video game website network
- Article about Games Journalism
- Article about booths at a convention
- Boilerplate article about a speedrun done with a drum set at GDQ (which ended over a month ago, very timely)
- An article that's just an advertisment for a podcast where they discuss the "conspiracy" around Sweet Baby Inc (side note - the conspiracy being the CEO saying and doing things on camera at a conference). This article is by Nathan Grayson (lmao) who is known as the "I said I didn't fuck Zoe Quinn but I did but totally trust me here".
- An article about FF7:Rebirth (but not about the game itself, but about the AAA industry)
- An article about how RoosterTeeth deserved better (side note - they did not deserve better)

WHAT A VIDEO GAME WEBSITE FOR VIDEO GAMES.

2,700 subscibers (their min tier is $7/month) means they're getting $18,900/month for this absolute drivel. The "4000 sub/We can all do this full time" would only leave them at $67,000/person and they can't even reach that (and then even less for expenses, hosting, etc).

I don't think Aftermath is going to make it.

He was? I can't imagine even a retarded VC firm giving a 15 minute look and not realizing he was the only person still around keeping that heap of shit together. For fuck's sake, they even have the legacy content still pay-gated and put all their post-Gerstmann stuff up for free.
