Maybe they can get Trump to mention GamerGate. But I'll settle for Tucker Carlson name-dropping it. After all he already did a Chris-Chan segment.

The Holy Name of GamerGate was invoked/the Lovecraftian Horror known as GamerGate was summoned (depending upon one's perspective) over this recent kerfuffle.

Unfortunately the Con pussied out and took down the sign. Apparently some sort of hatchet job/smear piece was written about the con last year in Kotaku, so this mildly amusing response was (a) reasonable and (b) had absolutely nothing to do with #Goobergrape. Until it did, like all criticism of Kotaku does, and don't you think otherwise, sweaty. Bonus points for the sign making people feel "unsafe."

I'm too lazy to venture down the rathole more than to post the opening salvo, but it is all there on Twitter.

Apparently a Woman was recently fired from her job because the company couldn't take the heat on social media. Apparently this was some small game developer that ResetERA didn't like for some reason, maybe the ResetERA thread has more details, so they started the cancel mob. Tucker explained ResetERA was initially resposible, then interviewed the Woman, who turned out to be quite resigned to the fact that this just happens these days. Tucker said he was actually more outraged than her.

I know what Gamergate did for me specifically, I don't know about anyone else.

At the time I knew the gaming industry inside out. And when the stories of Zoe Quinn banging for awards, industry position, and coverage, it didn't surprise me.

What surprised me was the entire gaming industry, this institutions backlash against it's own patrons, branding all of the them fascist/racist/misogynistic/nazis/ISIS. That shocked me. And led me to the revelation that these institutions are just run by people, flawed, corrupted by power, people. Who merely wanted to protect the facade of their institution and their supply of pussy, while the women wanted to protect their grift. Others who were still trusting in those establishments went along with the narrative.

Once I applied the framework of this particular scenario against the wider world. Everything started to make much more sense.
