The FBI FOIA requests show that like almost all the fucking death threats came from third-party agitators (and mention Something Awful by name):

[redacted] resident of Boston, MA, was also receiving threats via twitter, email and youtube. Grand Jury subpoenas were also served [redacted]. Due to the use of proxies, no subjects or actionable leads were identified. Based on the videos posted on youtube, SA [redacted] identified [redacted] as the originator of those videos. [redacted] was interviewed by the FBI and it became apparent that [redacted] as a joke. Boston USAO was contacted regarding [redacted] and declined prosecution of the matter.”

This is on top of the fact that multiple inquiries, including the one from Women Action Media, showed that approximately 0.65% of all accounts using the GG hashtag, at the time, were actually harassing. I wish to christ if these assholes were gonna keep lying, they'd get less shit at it.

This guy is making up exaggerations about gamergate since 2014, when that whole gamergate investigation report surfaced, it turned out they did question some people but didn't even find them suspect. Even though several events like one with Anita were cancelled due to bomb threats - something law enforcement would take very seriously if they caught the real perpetrators, because responding to fake threats costs thousands of taxpayer funds. They also seemingly dismissed many cases as unsubstantiated.

If you wanna look up those papers just google "KotakuInAction FOIA request". Although I'm sure they were shared somewhere here before too.

All this said, it's funny that even with GG being dead, this guy keeps trying to hold a spin on it and uses four people, one of whom was against GG in the beginning, as "proof" of GG's poor reputation. Because surely three who are more or less nobodies beyond Twitter mean something that isn't "axe to grind".

There's a reason KiA both got that report and distributed it.

All it proves is that the FBI had good reason for declaring that there was literally nothing to prosecute about this hysterical bullshit.

That didn't stop the fake news from lying about it until this day, though.

The closest he gets to making a point is with IMC who I'm pretty sure has a thread here for a good reason.

In terms of hinged and unhinged, Cran mentions he moved on from GG while the people he's replying to "came barging in and demanding with their questions". Yeah, meanwhile Cran still spergs about Mombot, IMC, Lo-Ping, and that RespectElves guy. Add to that the possibility that if one simply didn't share the same view as Cran such as seeing both sides of GG as shit instead of thinking the pro-side is shit or thinking Zoe is terrible rather than a good person, Cran could end up sperging about that with saying the former is apologism and the latter is "a horrible judge of character".

Far as I remember with his "proof", Mombot doctored up some DM's where a hanger-on known as 9volt asked for feet pics. Of course while Cran can say Mombot was making lies and slandering 9volt, mombot not only admits to it being a ruse but also says to not trust DM's in a screenshot. Then again one would like to see how Cran would retort to that.

IMC has a thread here and to tl;dr it: he's more or less making tweets to own the libs so to speak. Another way to put it from what I remember in the OP is that Cheong is a hypocrite.

Funniest part with said controversy was respectelves getting blocked for making a joke about it. The guy behind the block then tried to pass it off as people being angry for the deleted tweet.

I've been very interested in that book since it was brought to my attention that I'm in it. I was said to be a prominent member of Gamergate (not true though I was vocal), a dominant personality (not true) and someone that influenced others (again, not true).

Edit 2: It seems the woman that posted the book on amazon didn't actually write the gamergate section. Instead, it was information contributed by a bunch of other people.

They got their analysis through people blocked by Randi Harper's ggautoblocker, not actually GamerGate as a whole. There was no mention of youtubers that were super vocal, or all the heavy hitters with huge twitter followings in the book. These were the 9 "generals" aka "leaders" of Gamergate and I would bet the only one most people would recognize is mombot and she's the tiniest name on there. Me? I'm right smack dab in the middle.
