Hard to say. It turns out Gawker has a lot of listed advertisers that aren't actually advertising with them. So far, I think we managed to get like, three-four pulled out, and three that said they were never even advertising with Gawker? And I think there's a total of 56 advertisers.

Not really. There is an image of their partners page floating around (which Gawker took down when people started emailing them), but now it seems that some of their "partners" aren't actually sponsoring them at all. Adobe didn't have a relationship with them and Bonobos' partnership ended months ago.

Anyway, can we get back to laughing at things?

I find it rather interesting that both ZQ and LA have fled to England. I wonder if BW is there too.

I had edited my post after i found the wordpress blog about zoe with the proof (this also helps confirm this), but people are still not going to believe that this is true

Haha, well, important words like hot or cold aren't going to change for awhile. (Or if they are, I'm fucked.) Just talking about recent slang, which is kind of what hashtags are. Slang changes a lot and it's easy to change. Like how we don't say things are groovy or keen anymore. (Well, until those words become retro-cool again...)

Massive piles of evidence of corruption in the IGF and the surrounding organisations, especially with Fez, which was a game partially funded by the judges of the IGF and then promptly given an award by the same organisation. You can´t act like this is nothing.

Have you ever seen a GG video from the Quinnspiracy era? Not one of them advocates harassing her, or talks about her gender, or calls her a vicious SJW harpy or anything of the sort. They're just mad that this individual screws her way through the industry without repercussions, and that the people that talk about it get censored.

Are there any gamergate supporters with enough resources to create a concrete an organization which will have no less influence than the current gamergate movement has? If the answer is no, than abandoning the gamergate label will just be more damaging to the goals gamergate supporters try to achieve. Not only will the new name for the movement will have to be abandoned as well once the opposition accuses it of being sexist, the opposition will easily link the new gamergate to the old one by the similarity in public statements. Once this happens the opposition will add to their accusations cowardice and dishonesty as well.

Furthermore, adopting a new name will be gamergate's Tower of Babylon. Gamer Gate doesn't have any formal institutions, so who decides on the new name? There will probably be several different new gamergate replacements rather than just one. They'll either all be weaker than the original gamergate and will fail to link with each other due to obscruity, or alternatively will gain enough traction leading to the same problems mentioned above.

The name gamergate definitely has a lot of bad connotations in the minds of many people, but abandoning it will just cause more damage to the movement.

I didn't say anything about changing the definitions of words. The word "hot" is still the same. But what if everyone started believing that the Sun was cold? Do you think reality cares what people believe when we send a robot over to explore the sun?

I'm not entirely sure why that's inherently bad. Just because it wouldn't be as bad if it was a guy makes it sexist when nepotism is what started it all? It's a sexist movement because of a what if?

This is turning into feelz logic: There's really no way of knowing what the reaction had been if Zoe had been a man.

People have actually considered turning it into a formal organisation, but since #GamerGate has no leaders to begin with that process would be almost impossible. Plus, it's a lot more dynamic without leaders: people can decide for themselves which operations to support.

I have to agree. Maybe I'm just old and unhip but I still don't get twitter. It just seems to fuel petty shitstorms and just seem to lead to unproductive and wasteful energy expenditures.

Or maybe I'm just looking at Homers Gamergate tweets to much. (:_(
