He's been microtargeted by the so-called SJW hate brigade since he made a joke about something being retarded and then making the guy who claimed to be VERY HIGHLY OFFENDED by it look like an idiot. Jon's not going to tone down the attacks on him all that much from this stance, but it will stop some doxxing attempts.
Bear in mind, this same thing has been the lot of pretty much everyone pro-GG who's high profile and a number of neutrals - see also Boogie and the like. The anti side has already shown a willingness to SWAT people and dox them. Can we really blame anyone who relies on their continued online presence for going neutral or quiet, this in mind? We have the likes of TB, who won't be silenced, and many, many others who won't be bullied or bought. Take solace in that.
We're going to be losing people as we go. They're going to try to break us by going for any apparent leadership. Just like we're targetting Gawker's advertisers and hanging their every mis-step around their throat, the Anti-GGers will do anything they can and then some to stop us, and that means they're trying to go for anyone who could be a rallying point. The biggest advantage Gamergate has in being essentially leaderless is that this tactic won't amount to much in the long run.
Make no mistake, though: The Anti-GGers view this as war. They were willing to have a man fired. They were willing to have another incarcerated. Expect all of this and worse as we move forward. At this point, we should expect no less.
